I always glance at other reviews to make sure I am not biased or even perhaps wrong. This has a few negative reviews that in my opinion are based on not reading the product description or wrong device for wrong use. ... said very respectfully. Why this works for me.... 1) I sometimes want a small cup of coffee for just the caffeine without having to visit the lou a bunch. 2) It is what it is. YOU NEED a hot water source. I have a coffee pot that has a temp gage on it. THis is the perfect combo. I set my temp for 185 and go do morning routine. When I return.. I open the puck... and either freshly hand grind or use pre ground coffee. I lost the included measurer/tamper and my finger works just fine... 3) It makes an absurd number of cups without charging. I dont use the included container on the bottom but hold it and let it make in the cup I am going to drink from.. 15 seconds max from start to finish FOR ME.. this is a very quick.. very easy to clean up.. way for a shot of caffeine. YES>>> when I want a super tasting cup I use my AeroPress with my pre cut filters etc and it is of course excellent.. Amazon sells them. I actually use the base of the AeroPress to hold the unit if I dont want to hold for the short time. It brews directly into my cup. The aeropress requires much more clean up and time. This device is quick brew and go.. shot of coffee.. and I even run water through it twice if I want a little stronger although this is almost too much in strength. Hope this helps.. Not to disrespect some other reviewers as their points are valid. It does not have a heat source but this is why it makes 100 cups on a charge.. PERFECT for camping imho. Hope this helps.. Cheers

This mini espresso machine is easy to use and is very portable. We tried it out using some Lavazza espresso pods and were pleased with the results. It works very quickly, and the results are very palatable. From a usability standpoint, I did find the capsule for the espresso pod a little difficult to assemble. That's something that may become easier with time. Although we still prefer the espresso from our countertop maker, this would be a nice addition to our car camping equipment. I can't see taking it backpacking - it would take up too much space and weigh too much. There are a couple of things which prospective purchasers need to keep in mind. First, this unit does not heat the water. The user must pour in hot water from another source. This might prove to be a problem when, say, you're staying in a hotel. Second, there are a lot of bits and pieces to clean up afterward. If preparing espresso for multiple people, it's best to dispense the coffee into each person's own cup or you'll lose that lovely crema. Finally, if you want cappuccino, you'll need to provide means of frothing milk. The maker includes both a cartridge for powdered coffee and a capsule for pods, making it somewhat versatile. It also includes a scoop, the USB-C charging cable, and something resembling an owner's manual.

Heat your water hot... then place within this and press away some espresso, N capsule or pack your own. The battery can even charge while pressing. many cups can be made as long as you keep the hot water coming. Very compact and very efficient. No waiting for the extraction of your brew. Nice display for percentage of charge.

I have played with this thing quite a bit. I love a good cup of espresso to make Americano.... this little device is a great idea and has all really nice parts (even includes a way to use the mini-pods). It does not heat the water, but it processes the water through the coffee or grounds. What I don't like about it is that it pushes the water through too fast. Even with quality beans the coffee tastes like the old drip coffee pots that used to be in every home. It comes out weak and not dark enough, even when I use the max amount. Also, the coffee doesn't have a way to be agitated (for bloom) so it's basically just a fast pour-over, and not a true espresso maker. Like I said, it's a cute idea but my manual espresso unit that I travel with that allows more time for the water to go through the coffee makes much better espresso than this does.

I should have read the fine print before adding this to my cart. Nonetheless, it’s not a bad little unit. When comparing to my other two portable espresso makers, this one lacks a heating mode and, is made of plastic in two sections. With that being said, the plastic is really thick and looks to be well made. For about, 45% more money, you can opt for one that is made a little better and heats up the water. If I’m being honest, the fact that it doesn’t heat up the water kind of defeats the purpose. Hot water extraction is required for a good cup of espresso not to mention, we don’t just have access to hot water when on the go. I decided to keep this for home use or gift it. I prefer my hot water extraction machines. When I use this with hot water, it does a good job and makes a quick cup of espresso. This is great for folks that have a portable kettle. I wouldn’t recommend cold extraction, it's simply not feasible. It’s a great option for those that already have access to hot water and want one of these within a budget.

It says right there in the instructions that you have to add hot water. So, the whole self-heating thing is false advertising. Even after you pour hot water into the top, by the time it gets through its process, you have to nuke it because it's cooled already. I'm talking about water going from "too hot to comfortably touch" to "won't melt the sugar" cool. Yes, it's relatively fast and simple to use. The espresso tastes good. However, the portability factor is negated by the fact that you'll also have to travel with boiling hot water or a solar powered microwave. Don't think for a minute you'll be taking this little number camping. I was woefully disappointed.
