  • Not bad but there is better...
I have 2 of these portable ice makers by different brands. This one (for being portable) is about 1/3rd the height taller vs the other and about 2 inches deeper (front to back). Also, this model doesn't have a handle at the top or any good way to be able to pick up and move it( not very easy to carry without a handle, thus not as portable as the other machine). Not having a handle also makes it rather awkward to change out the water to clean it. There is also a very noticeable difference in the noise while operating it. This ice maker is much louder overall and you KNOW when it's running. The other brand makes a little noise when you first turn it on and then that's it until the ice falls into the collection bin. Also, it takes 2-3 runs before the ice comes out at the full size (the other brand does this on the first run, using the same temp of water). Yes, it does make ice and does it well. However, there are other similar portable ice makers that do this better for the same or lesser price. For the reasons above, this is why I gave it 4 stars overall (not 5 stars just because I received it via the Vine program). ... show more

  • Hole-y Ice, Batman!
I see the Amazon driver bringing a big box and I’m like, what did I order that’s that big? Folks, the description “portable+countertop” automatically set to mind that this was a small unit. And the pics in the listing are a bit deceiving. It’s way bigger than I thought, by a lot! It’s like a giant bread maker, and kind of looks like one, too. Operation is pretty straight forward, and directions are understandable/easy. My first challenge was finding a spot for this. Lesson learned again to check dimensions. But anyway, I cleaned with some warm water and soap and rinsed it well and dried with paper towels. I also used the line clean feature just to clear any manufacturing residues. The basket is above the water reservoir and there is a line marking the fill line. The basket is small, and it comes with a small scoop, too. Both ice settings start to make ice within 10 minutes, but the small setting makes ice quicker. The ice is shaped differently than I’ve seen before, but I like it because the ice fits into the mouth of the bottles I have. Sometimes the ice jams up the sensor and it stops making ice. Not the biggest deal, though. Aside from the size, everything about this is as expected. It did have a bit of an odor upon arrival, but it went away. It’s quick and efficient as far as I’m concerned. Ice doesn’t taste funny either. ... show more

  • Make sure to use distiller/bottled water
As simple as they come, this portable ice maker meets expectations by producing ice in less than 10 minutes. From past experiences, I rinsed this machine with distilled water on the first use and then used bottle water to make ice. This helped with any "off-tasting" ice that is common for machines of this type. The compressor inside is a bit noisy but no more than a small beverage fridge. Remember this is not an ice machine to be used constantly, but a desktop ice maker that produces additional ice for social gatherings and personal enjoyment (it will not keep the ice). Just like any other small appliance, it will require you to unplug it, clean it, drain it, and then put it away when not in use. It will not keep ice the same way your freezer does, and it will just keep cycling until there's no more water. Very easy to clean, make sure you're near a sink (or outside), the drain is a bit hard to find but it is on the bottom of the unit. If possible, use distilled water to keep the unit clean to prevent the taste and scale build-up that comes from using tap-water. Lastly, this machine produces bullet-type ice and does not make the fancy round ice that people have become acostumed to. ... show more

  • I’m still learning how to best utilize this ice maker
I need to start with the primer that I have never owned a countertop I’ve maker. I am used to an ice maker in my refrigerator. I have wanted a countertop ice maker to place in my basement home theater wet bar. That way I could have a small supply of ice on hand when we have movie parties or are just too lazy to use the stairs. So far I’m my limited use the ice maker is simple to operate. Pour water in. Turn on and let it make ice. It does make noise. You hear some fan noise and the compressor running. So in a quiet environment I find it to be louder than a normal refrigerator so be aware of this. I’m not sure it’s bad or any different than the other much more expensive models but it’s worth noting. The other thing that is worth noting is that the ice will melt. This can be good or bad. On one had your ice is always relatively fresh. The melted ice drips back into the water reservoir. the bad is that this doesn’t have an insulate lid and doesn’t keep ice frozen. All in all I’m happy to have it in my basement and if nothing else it’s nice to have a secondary ice maker when we have larger parties. It does make ice quickly so I can see for a larger party this thing will be a great little addition to our entertaining space. I did want to touch on the other issues so other were aware of how it is in operation. ... show more

  • Works well, doesn’t keep the ice frozen
Slightly noisy when making ice but isn’t the worst. Make sure you clean the unit first before using to get rid of any factory odor. It’s easy to use, the buttons are on the top back and you can choose large or small ice. It also tells you when water is low or ice is full. It’s pretty straightforward. Remember to use filtered water since this unit doesn’t filter your water. Also when the ice is ready you’ll have to store it in your freezer the unit doesn’t keep the ice frozen. ... show more

  • Fast ice maker
The Zvoutte ice maker machine makes perfect ice bullets, has easy maintenance, and set up/use is simple. I also like the self cleaning option and the accessible plug to drain from the inside. (You don’t need to tip it over to use it.) The machine is much larger than I thought it would be, so make sure to measure your countertop if you want to fit it underneath. I was surprised by the size but not disappointed since it makes more ice than the smaller, more compact options that are available. I purchased a similar ice maker for a friend from Costco and it was much more compact. However, I constantly had to keep filling it up, unlike this one. These ice makers (in this price range) do not refrigerate ice and instead recycle the water so they will continue to run and constantly make ice as it melts. You can purchase ice makers that keep the ice cold and not run continuously but expect to pay a lot more. Also, be aware that this is a bullet ice maker and not a nugget machine. I didn’t pay attention to the difference between the two when researching machines. I think bullet machines are great if you are looking to make a lot of ice at once and store it in the freezer. The nugget machines create little ice pellets similar to commercial soda machines and are for those who enjoy chewing tiny ice nuggets in their drinks. Other pros of this machine: - Makes makes ice quickly! I timed the first small ice drop in the bin at 6.5 minutes and then the rest of the time, it took approximately 7.5 minutes. The larger ice took about 9.5 minutes. - The ice does not stick together. - Low noise. (Others have complained that it’s loud but I don’t think any of these machines are silent. It sounds like my dishwasher running which I don’t consider loud. Maybe I’m just used to sounds in my kitchen. 😉) The only downfall is that the machine will stop making ice as it builds up near the sensor. As a result, you just need to check the ice occasionally and push it forward. If you are having a gathering it shouldn’t be an issue since you’ll be constantly scooping and moving the ice around. Also, make sure to follow the directions to let the machine sit for at least 24 hours after you unbox it so the ice is cold. The directions in the user manual suggest 2 hours but the seller recommends 24 hours on Amazon. This is a good investment if you don’t have an ice maker built into your refrigerator, you have a entertaining area or bar in your house, you have a camper, you enjoy small ice cubes, or you just like to have friends/family over for happy hour or other fun gatherings (and don’t want to run to the store for extra ice). ... show more

  • Simple to use, and yummy ice!
The media could not be loaded. I love to chomp down on Ice throughout my day, and my ice machine had been broken in my fridge. I have always wanted the pebble ice machine and never had an opportunity to get one. So when I saw this I thought it would be a good compromise. I really like the shape of the ice and how smooth it is to chew on. I was worried the machine would be overly complicated but it’s extremely simple. The only bummer is that the ice doesn’t stay cold enough to keep in the basket so as soon as it’s done being made if you are not using it right away, you need to put it in your freezer. This is definitely worth getting! I hate the hassle of pouring water in ice trays and waiting several hours until I can use it. This works fast (about 9 ice cubes in 7ish minutes) and I love the shape of it compared to the ice my fridge would make! Definitely worth getting! ... show more

  • Ice Ice Baby
Ice, ice, ice, baby…All day! I couldn’t be happier about this portable countertop ice maker. The packaging for this machine was phenomenal with several protective stoppers on the four corners of the machine. It was super simple to set up. I plugged it in, pushed ON (located on the top), and then added water. There are two options for ice: short (S) and long (L). The wait time is 8 to 10 minutes for each cycle and continues to produce ice as long as you keep adding water. I added two regular size (16oz) filtered water bottles that took about two hours of making ice. When the tray gets full, a red light comes on. You can either dump it in a bowl and store it in the freezer and keep producing ice or just leave it until others use it. It stays cold if you keep the lid closed. Also, as the ice melts, the water will recycle for newer ice. The taste of the ice is cleaner than traditional ice from a refrigerator because there’s no aftertaste of freezer. I prefer water bottled for ice as I noticed the ice comes out clear and tastes cleaner than water from my filter attached to my sink faucet. The ice still tasted fine from the faucet filter, but it was cloudy. Regardless of my personal preference, the instructions require the use of either filtered or distilled water, NOT hard tap water. This icemaker is my household’s center of attention now that the weather is hitting above 100 degrees lately. I couldn’t be more pleased to share my experience with it. ... show more

  • Best Ice Maker For The Price
I absolutely love this ice machine. This is not my first ice machine but it is my first actual quiet one. I mean yeah you can hear it when the ice drops in the tray but its not really that loud. My other one I had was so loud I couldn't even make ice while my husband was home working. Now there is no issue with that he can work and I can make ice. I will get up in the morning put water in it which you put in the base area which is nice no trying to pour into reservoirs like before. Turning it on is easy with one button touch and same with if you want large or small ice just one more button. It lets you know when its full and when it needs more water with lighting up on the top. Other than that there is no over done on bells and whistles its exactly what I needed without all the fuss. Its easy to drain when your done with it and easy to wipe out. This is not only easy to use but easy to clean this by far is the best ice maker I have came across. It is a bit pricey but its so worth it. I will make my ice and leave it in the machine all day. I get ice off and on and it keeps it cold and if it melts at all it just turns around and makes it into ice again. The moment you scoop you some ice it starts making more again. ... show more

  • Ice Maker
After cleaning my machine and awaiting the 24hr period I plugged my machine in filled it with my filtered water and I am overall happy with my results. The ice taste just like my water. The fan isn't overly noisy. The only time you'll hear a loud loud noise is when the machine is empty and drops the ice in an empty bin. Once filled It fills my 40oz cup with a bit of ice left over. I like that when I need to clean my machine out there's an opening at the bottom that I can drain the water out. This machine is easy to operate and doesn't have any hard technical options and it goes well with the rest of my kitchen appliances. I don't like when the ice stacks up and reaches the level that isn't fully full but cuts off because its at the stop level. I don't like that it doesn't come with a holder for you ice scooper. ... show more

I got this to go in the RV for our camping trip. I love the type of ice this machine makes and you have the option of large or small. Set up was easy and it takes up minimal space. • Very Fast
This ice maker makes ice very fast, and the little basket fills up just enough for me to get ice after finishing my drink. I really like how compact it is and it fits on my countertop without taking up much space. It is super easy to set up and you just have to wait like 20 minutes and there's your ice. I prefer the small ice cube setting as if it stays in the ice maker for a bit it has a sort of shaved ice texture which is fun to chew instead of drinking water which to some is less favorable. I'm so happy with this product. ... show more
