(Had actually thought I'd be receiving suction cups too be able to move item between locations, but received NOTHING to secure this item to window / window frame. The material is great easy to cut, especially with their included paper cutter tool. Only thing I would suggest is maybe updating to a 3M style pool tab that is magnet on one side the Velcro is kind of foggy and pulls it, decently far of all

I wasn't sure about this when I ordered it but thought it would be worth the try. This comes in a large sheet of vinyl or plastic. One side is black and the other is silver to reflect the sun. It comes with velcro, cutters a marker and tape measure. It's pretty easy to use overall but takes up a lot of space (initially). You measure the window you are placing it on, then mark and cut the sheet to fit. Attach the velcro to the window and the corners of the cut piece of fabric (on the silver side) and attach the sheet to the window. I messed up a little with the first one but quickly saw where I'd made my mistake. The others were easier to do. Last night the fabric blocked out about 95% of the undesired street lights. The 5% that got through was definitely user error. This would make a great gift for anyone who loves to sleep in a dark room, anyone who is traveling a lot and wants to block out light, anyone who works night shift, and anyone with a baby or child that doesn't nap well due to sunlight. I had used a set of these before and I needed another one to finish one of the huge windows I have in a room that gets unobstructed sun all day and heats my entire condo at the same time, killing my HVAC. And, just as the description reads, this was a great solution, even if only temporary (because the product is priced so nicely!). The instructions are easy enough, measure and cut, and the application is also easy (probably easier for others without 15 foot ceilings where the window takes up 3/4 of that space), but not only does this completely (I mean COMPLETELY) black out any incoming light, the side that faces outside is a reflective silver, so that keeps the temperature WAY down. This blackout shade *kit* includes: a large sheet of blackout fabric, flexible tape measure, (silver-on-black) marking pen, sliding fabric cutter knife, and several velcro pads. While the kit includes everything necessary for a good installation, I chose to also use a large steel yardstick (as a straight edge) and a few large binder clips to hold the fabric in place and taught for cutting. I was unusually careful and parsimonious during cutting because the sheet of fabric in this kit was just a tiny bit over twice as large as my target window. I used half of the fabric for the recommended velcro-adhered installation. I reserved the other half to use: (1) in case the first installation somehow went terribly, terribly wrong; or (2) with a bit of additional work, as sliding vertical panels (using the [giant Swedish retailer] curtain hardware already installed in the widow). The initial velcro-backed installation of this blackout fabric panel turned out fine. It doesn't interfere with operation of the extant curtains/curtain hardware. So at least in my installation, the blackout panel can be used in conjunction with existing window coverings. I've not yet returned to this project to make/install vertical panels from the remaining blackout fabric. ... show more

I love these easy to use blockout curtains. They really aren't curtains I guess....It's actually blackout fabric, black on one side and silver reflective on the other side. You can cut this to the size of your window frame and the velcro sticks to the frame, and then put the other side of the velcro on the curtain, and voila! Easy peezy, had my first window covered in less than 5 minutes. And they do what they are supposed to do, block out the light and reflect a great deal of the sun as well. The fabric won't unravel or anything like that when cut...it has a nice flat edge so no mess and I expect them to last a long time. GREAT value for the price. ... show more

The film is thin and lightweight but does a great job keeping the room dark. In turn this keeps the room cooler than it was before. The tape provided started to loose its adhesion after a few days. The film is wider and longer than the standard windows so it was easy to modify to fit. On days when I want more light I can easily remove then reapply as needed. Overall no issues ... show more
