First off, I live in AZ and we all know how hot it is here. I am in the process of purchasing a new 5 ton AC unit, but the temps today are already close to the 100's. Regular fans were just not cutting it. They both arrived neatly packed and with very easy instructions. I put the ice packs/water in and turned on at 9pm, crossing my fingers that it would stay cool through the night. I woke up this morning at 6:30am to cool air and a comfortable night of sleep. I am so happy with my purchase! Yes, it's not cooling my entire house, however, I work from home and I can easily wheel it into my office with no problem. They are pretty sturdy and lightweight for a 60 year old lady to move around. hopefully, my new unit will be installed in a couple of weeks!! These machines are straight garbage. Okay, this is not gonna do nothing and no weather, and it don't cover up small rooms, so stop lying, you're advertising something that's not even true. What you're not saying you're supposed to do in Amazon that and you do it, don't buy this product right? You're wasting your money.     • Please Read. Might help with others who are disappointed in machine.
I have "2" different machines. I literally need to make these work to my advantage. I live in a tiny apartment in Northern California. The AC wall unit doesn't do it's job and costs over $200 in the summer. I'm a person who never touches the heater in winter, either. I'm also from Arizona. I understand and hate the heat. Here though in Northern California. It can get up to 117 degrees. Literally 100 or so inside without a decent AC that doesn't cost a ton. It doesn't even reach into the tiny bedroom. This place is poorly designed. 😢 It's been about 108 or so already and it's beginning of June. These machines are a chore but can't live without them. I suffer. We tend to fill a pitcher of water and put in fridge for next day usage for each machine. Cold water helps. We also freeze blocks of ice in baggies and hammer them down to fit in older machine. This machine is nice because it opens up easily like so at the bottom. Easy to put ice in. My other machine.. hammer 🔨 the ice down. We do this on a towel. All that has is a tiny opening. He also brings ice home from work. I bought a giant pack of titan ice packs this year to try out. I got those from Costco for $15. This takes up more than half my freezer for summer. I can't cook anyhow. Too hot. Lots of make shift ice bricks and ice packs and giant bag of ice. These work best with ICE 🧊 👌 🙌 😍 as much as you can do within a single day. We also have Styrofoam around the machine to help keep it cool. (Home made project). Now these machines have filters. These machines are highly prone to MOLD!!! My old one I put filter outside to dry every morning. Fast to dry. I dump water out every morning and put ice packs in freezer for evening use. This one, the filter is ( screwed in ) so blow JUST the FAN and not the cooler for a bit in the morning to help dry it out. Vinegar helps with mold if you need to clean machines. It builds fast. It does. So.. yeah... Vinegar. You can't neglect these. They're work and they're a chore. But it's what we have. We are not allowed to modify windows in any way for some other type of AC unit. It's grounds for fines and evictions. The best we do at night is a normal window fan. These are literally what we use in 117 degrees. Plus a neck wrap. Cooling neck wrap. ... show more

    • Cool, not cold but great cooling fan.
While this puts out lots of forced air, and it is cool... it is NO COLD. I was expecting much colder air to help keep the temp lower. In the SoCal desert, it gets pretty hot. I thought the ice packs would do more than it did. I got these for my boys to use in their rooms to help lower the use of the AC. So far, im not impressed, but they are helping a little. They are easy to set up and use. Keep an eye on the water line though, when you are trying to use it on the cooling feature, this will run out quickly. It doesn't really cool even when aiming at my body. This is a worthless device. Unfortunately, it took me a while to put it together and start using, so now I cannot return it.

    • A lifesaver in AZ heat
Very energy efficient. Only draws about 60w which is a lot better than a normal AC. Functions well in dry areas like az. Good airflow for the size. Not huge but more than enough for a small room. Good value for the price.

    • Not bad, but...
A swamp cooler, not an air conditioner, so will raise the humidity in a room. I measured air temperature as low as 68 coming out of unit with ice packs in place (70 seems more common). My one concern is that the evaporative filter in the back is made of paper. I'm not sure how long it will last. Maybe it's possible to purchase a replacement. I have hard water, so am using distilled water in the unit, and no problems so far. ... show more
