  • Make sure the plug in the bottom back is secure in the hole before adding water.
Color: Gray
(1) Be sure to see that the plug that covers the hole at the bottom back is plugged in before adding water so that the water does not go all over your floor. My plug fell out and fortunately I did not pour all of the water from the bucket out. (2) The gauge window at the front bottom is very dark and I must shine a flashlight on it to see the level. However, when the water is low the machine will sound different and start to make a gurgle sound, as the pump for cooling starts to pump up air. (3) The manual does not list items that come in packaging. Look for four wheels, a remote, 4 ice packes, and a user manual. (4) The 4 ice packs have crystals in them that are NOT edible. Other icepacks may fit in the top. The manual says to put icepacks with water in them in the freezer for 8 hours. A pump in the machine pumps water up and over the icepacks. (5) The machine is a little larger than a tall kitchen garbage can and made of plastic slightly thicker than a kitchen garbage can and less flexible. (6) All four sides have vents. Three of those side have a paper-like grid under the main outer covering. The front side is the only side with 2 sets of visors to direct the air up or down, as they are on hinges. (7) There are five circles on the top to touch and operate the cooler: SWING, TIMER, COOLING, SPEED, POWER. (8) I am happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Garbage - does not work!!
Color: Gray
I would rate it at zero stars if I could. I don’t understand how this product has such a high rating and such great reviews, it is garbage! The product box was damaged, but the outer shipping box was fine, so Amazon boxed up and shipped a damaged product. We thought we’d try it out anyway, just in case the product was undamaged and worked. The smell when I opened it was terrible. We put the wheels on, added water to the ice packs and froze them. Once they were frozen, we added them and water to the unit to test it out. It ran for about an hour and it never cooled. The slats/blades on the front are in two sections, the bottom section would only point to the floor. The top section would point up or straight, but would shift downward. There was no way to prop any of them up. It never blew any cool air! The controls kept shutting off. The smell coming from it was terrible, like it was blowing stagnant air, hard to describe it but it had me coughing like crazy! This is nothing but a glorified fan…actually our little Woozoo fan is much better than this! The user manual is so poorly written and not in order. The type is so tiny and faint, very hard to read. We returned it! ... show more

  • Good swamp cooler at an affordable price!
Color: Gray
The media could not be loaded. End of Summer Update: ---------------------------- The cooler performed well and the filter eventually clogged with cat hair. Cleaning was easy, though. I let it dry out completely and then just sucked all the fur out with my brush attachment. Be careful not to damage the evaporator since you can't replace it. I took it outside and blew it out with compressed air just to get everything extra clean and ready for next season. What I learned: The louvres don't stay where you fix them. They eventually sag but a little blue tape fixes that. It's just a combination of not enough friction/no louvre locks and the air pressure blowing over the vanes. Not a deal breaker. The most important lesson is that you need to keep the air moving to effectively cool. Once humidity levels rise to about 40%, the efficiency of a swamp cooler drops significantly. It's working off evaporative cooling and if you can't evaporate water, you're just blowing warm wet air. So, if you're in humid environment, this isn't the cooling unit for you. Overall, I just took 1 star off because of the non-replaceable filter and the inability to easily scrub the reservoir tub without removing all the screws. Original Review with minor edits for readability: -------------------------------------------------------- You're sweating and it's freaking hot in your room and all you want to know is if this thing works. Here's the honest answer: Yes! Starting temp in my room: 100oF. I have 2 gaming systems in my room and we were going for a few hours and it was 101oF outside of our south facing room that gets FULL sun. My wife forbids me from turning on the AC because it literally doubles our bill (>$400/month) if I run it for more than a couple of hours. Today, the ceiling fan wasn't doing jack. I literally got this the day before the heat wave started and gave this a go. The night before, I filled the water bottles up with water (Be careful when you open, there's gel powder inside!) and froze them overnight. I filled the tank up with about 5 liters of water. I put 2 ice packs in the top and turned it on. Immediately, it felt cooler because of the ice packs and the huge fan but once I turned on the water pump, OH MY GOD... what a huge difference. I'm in the CA bay area and the air is dry as heck... what a relieve to get even a little humidity in the room. I tested the temperature of the air coming out and the instant read showed 54.5 degrees after a few minutes of circulating the water. The first day I used this, I have to be honest, the air coming out of it didn't smell the best. It has a fishy odor from the evaporator. After a few days, the smell does go away, though, so be patient. In about 30 minutes, the temp in the room dropped from 100oF to 81oF. That's a HUGE improvement! Humidity in the room jumped from 0% to just under 50%. It made the room feel a little muggy so I just opened the window to move some of the moist air out and it was much more comfortable. Overall, this was a savior for me because I get a cooler room while using less energy. The only improvement I can think of is that the filter should be replaceable and the bottom should be clipped on so that the fan unit can be removed from the main tank at the bottom. Why? It would perform way better if you can put a bag of ice in the bottom to keep the water even cooler than the 2 bottles up top can. This would bring the water below to near freezing and the air coming out would be about the same. I will probably modify the base a little and 3d print some brackets so I can do just that. For now, if you want to do it, you'll need to remove quite a few screws. Only 1 bottle fits comfortably up top. 2 still fits but one will be kinda angled and wont' make full contact with the water. Pros: 1. Portable and easily moved with the rollers 2. Efficient cooling 3. 20oF drop in about 30 minutes in a standard 15x15 den 4. Adds humidity in dry environments (good or bad depending on your preference) 5. Easy controls and remote Cons: 1. Filter can not be changed 2. Bottom doesn't seem to come off so you can only drain the water, not put any additional ice below. Not sure about long term cleaning of the tank. Tips for better cooling: 1: throw a pot of water in the fridge the night before so you can pre-cool the water in the tank! 2: open a window to help the fan push the hot air out and to keep the humidity below 40%. I setup my orb fan next to the swamp cooler to help pull the humidified air out of the room quicker. 3. Run the unit a couple of times and let it dry out between uses to get rid of the fishy smell from the filter. Overall, for the price, this was a great find and I'm so much happier AND cooler sitting in my computer room during the day. The video is how loud it is at full power from 10 feet away. ... show more

  • Quiet, powerful
Color: Gray
I really enjoyed this evaporative cooler after our last one broke! Some comments: - Water leakage: unlikely. The top and bottom of the unit are integrated, I haven't figured out how to get them apart. You pour water into the top, which is convenient and lovely (other evaporative coolers strictly contraindicate this!). That's all to say, this has not leaked and the chances are very low! - Build Quality - elegant, this is fairly lightweight for the size and confers confidence as far as what plastic they used throughout. This was also build to have THREE sides of water radiator type strictures on all sides of a large, slow-moving fan, which is maximizing evaporation. The fan itself is large and slow to make it as quiet as possible. - For ease of movement, I would say this would be easy although I haven't tried it with a full tank. Because the bottom tank is sealed, I would not expect any leak during movement, modulo the weight. - The "swing" mode goes up and down and left and right. You can turn it off at a desired position if you want to "aim" the air flow, which is a nice option to have. - It's fairly quiet, I would say it's quieter than a nice box fan. It comes with a remote that works fine and battery included. - The reservoir is quite a bit larger than some competitors which is important, water can evaporate quickly with these things. Altogether I was very pleased with this product and it has kept me very cool! ... show more
