  • Good a/c fan—GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
Color: Gray
***UPDATED REVIEW: spoke with company about the issue I had with the initial cooler I ordered. They went through a few troubleshooting things with me to try to solve the issue but it didn’t help. So then they sent me a whole new cooler at no cost to me to replace the defected one. I was shocked….that is the CUSTOMER SERVICE companies should have. They were helpful, tried to correct the initial problem and when nothing worked, they corrected the whole issue by replacing the product. Received my new cooler and it works great! I was impressed on how they wanted to make things right. Reminds me of the way customer service used to be. Thank you! Initial review: Fan cools great. Quiet. Easy to move around. Happy with that. The reason I gave a 3 is that the horizonal blades wont stay up. Once air starts to flow they drop downward. I have to keep raising them up. I tried using a zip tie to keep them up, but only works for so long and then I have to keep raising them up.. This isnt helpful bc the air will blow downward. ... show more

  • Made My Room Hotter, Not Cooler, Returning It Made My Room Hotter, Not Cooler, Returning It
Color: Gray
I honestly don’t understand how this product has any good reviews. It does not cool. I followed all the instructions carefully, added very cold water to the tank, used the included frozen ice packs, and let it run for hours. When I returned to my room, it felt like a humid, overheated steam room. And it smelled bad. I even checked the temperature using a room thermometer. It had gone up after hours of use, even as the outside temperature was going down! Instead of cooling, this device just filled my bedroom (and even my walk-in closet!) with warm, heavy humidity. It made the space completely unbearable. My first picture was taken at 5:16 PM when I turned the machine on. Notice outside temperature is 89 degrees. When I returned three hours later, the room was hotter (and humid!) at 80 degrees, and notice that the outside temperature had gone down to 78 degrees while my room got hotter thank to this machine! I’m returning it. It simply didn’t work for me. ... show more

  • Good swamp cooler at an affordable price! Good swamp cooler at an affordable price!
Color: Gray
End of Summer Update: ---------------------------- The cooler performed well and the filter eventually clogged with cat hair. Cleaning was easy, though. I let it dry out completely and then just sucked all the fur out with my brush attachment. Be careful not to damage the evaporator since you can't replace it. I took it outside and blew it out with compressed air just to get everything extra clean and ready for next season. What I learned: The louvres don't stay where you fix them. They eventually sag but a little blue tape fixes that. It's just a combination of not enough friction/no louvre locks and the air pressure blowing over the vanes. Not a deal breaker. The most important lesson is that you need to keep the air moving to effectively cool. Once humidity levels rise to about 40%, the efficiency of a swamp cooler drops significantly. It's working off evaporative cooling and if you can't evaporate water, you're just blowing warm wet air. So, if you're in humid environment, this isn't the cooling unit for you. Overall, I just took 1 star off because of the non-replaceable filter and the inability to easily scrub the reservoir tub without removing all the screws. Original Review with minor edits for readability: -------------------------------------------------------- You're sweating and it's freaking hot in your room and all you want to know is if this thing works. Here's the honest answer: Yes! Starting temp in my room: 100oF. I have 2 gaming systems in my room and we were going for a few hours and it was 101oF outside of our south facing room that gets FULL sun. My wife forbids me from turning on the AC because it literally doubles our bill (>$400/month) if I run it for more than a couple of hours. Today, the ceiling fan wasn't doing jack. I literally got this the day before the heat wave started and gave this a go. The night before, I filled the water bottles up with water (Be careful when you open, there's gel powder inside!) and froze them overnight. I filled the tank up with about 5 liters of water. I put 2 ice packs in the top and turned it on. Immediately, it felt cooler because of the ice packs and the huge fan but once I turned on the water pump, OH MY GOD... what a huge difference. I'm in the CA bay area and the air is dry as heck... what a relieve to get even a little humidity in the room. I tested the temperature of the air coming out and the instant read showed 54.5 degrees after a few minutes of circulating the water. The first day I used this, I have to be honest, the air coming out of it didn't smell the best. It has a fishy odor from the evaporator. After a few days, the smell does go away, though, so be patient. In about 30 minutes, the temp in the room dropped from 100oF to 81oF. That's a HUGE improvement! Humidity in the room jumped from 0% to just under 50%. It made the room feel a little muggy so I just opened the window to move some of the moist air out and it was much more comfortable. Overall, this was a savior for me because I get a cooler room while using less energy. The only improvement I can think of is that the filter should be replaceable and the bottom should be clipped on so that the fan unit can be removed from the main tank at the bottom. Why? It would perform way better if you can put a bag of ice in the bottom to keep the water even cooler than the 2 bottles up top can. This would bring the water below to near freezing and the air coming out would be about the same. I will probably modify the base a little and 3d print some brackets so I can do just that. For now, if you want to do it, you'll need to remove quite a few screws. Only 1 bottle fits comfortably up top. 2 still fits but one will be kinda angled and wont' make full contact with the water. Pros: 1. Portable and easily moved with the rollers 2. Efficient cooling 3. 20oF drop in about 30 minutes in a standard 15x15 den 4. Adds humidity in dry environments (good or bad depending on your preference) 5. Easy controls and remote Cons: 1. Filter can not be changed 2. Bottom doesn't seem to come off so you can only drain the water, not put any additional ice below. Not sure about long term cleaning of the tank. Tips for better cooling: 1: throw a pot of water in the fridge the night before so you can pre-cool the water in the tank! 2: open a window to help the fan push the hot air out and to keep the humidity below 40%. I setup my orb fan next to the swamp cooler to help pull the humidified air out of the room quicker. 3. Run the unit a couple of times and let it dry out between uses to get rid of the fishy smell from the filter. Overall, for the price, this was a great find and I'm so much happier AND cooler sitting in my computer room during the day. The video is how loud it is at full power from 10 feet away. ... show more

  • Excellent product
Color: Gray
I am very impressed with this lightweight product. Living in AZ where temperatures reach 115+ I wanted this to augment my air conditioning. Today's high temperature was only 106°. After filling the reservoir with cold water & 2 provided little ice packs, I turned the unit on and immediately began to feel cool comfortable air. I moved my house air conditioning unit up to 85° to check if product would keep my large den/living room comfortable. It certainly worked. My house air conditioning rarely turned on today. Product is very easy to use. The remote is handy. I have put 7 gallons of water into my refrigerator to use as AZ tap water is very warm/hot during the summer. Using cold water and ice packs is the key in having very cool air inside house while blazing hot dry AZ heat stays outside. I ordered the 10 pack thin ice packs from Amazon which are excellent and a little larger than the 4 provided. Product seems to be well made and durable. Happy I bought it particularly for use if I experience a summertime power outage. My smallest Jackery solar generator easily runs this product. The outside humidity is very low . This product adds moisture inside my house. Unit isn't loud. Unit has a small footprint. It's attractive. Very easy to use. ... show more

  • Only functioned for one season
Color: Gray
I live in the desert, so swamp cooling is a pretty effective method of cooling your home here, and this thing helped immensely last summer. But I pulled it back out today (the hot season has started earlier than usual), filled it up with water, plugged it in and hit go. The fan comes on, the swing function works, but the pump to cycle the water across the cooling gills doesn’t turn on at all. Since that’s what makes it a swamp cooler instead of just a fan, it’s no longer working for what I need it to do, unfortunately. ... show more

  • Nope! Not even beneficial in any way here in AZ!
Color: Gray
We have two different swamp coolers. They both came from Amazon. The first one is fabulous, does cool well, and is so user friendly. It held enough water to cool for almost 12 hours, so through the night which was essential. This one is no where near as cool as the pads are too thick. Additionally, the pump is not as efficient as the first swamp we bought. It goes through water twice as fast yet provides only a mediocre coolness. We are AZ people and know our swamp coolers. It's not our first day using them. We have a massive whole house unit that does a fabulous job, but it's out of order. So these were temp units to get us through until the house unit was repaired. I do believe we would not repurchase this unit due to it's lack of efficiency. Oh, BTW, the tiny little ice packs are a total waste of time, period. Never has ice or any coolant of any kind made a swamp cooler more icy or beneficial. That's kind of a big joke. ... show more

  • System Struggles in Humid Climate
Color: Gray
I'm in Hawaii-- this system would probably work better in a dry climate. With the ice packs installed, this system is much cooler than a regular fan, however, the ice packs (2 at a time) only last about 70 minutes. After that, it's a giant fan and the water system flows properly (after the ice packs expire), but it's barely cooler than a normal fan (in humid conditions) The four ice packs are insufficient if you require cool air for longer periods...probably need at least 8. Another issue is evaporation. The water tank was initially filled with about 5 gallons, but was almost completely dry after approximately 13 hours (cooling system on and set at medium fan speed). When running the system fan without the cooling function on, the water level did not change. So, water flow and evaporation on the filter elements works as advertised, but you could ruin your system if the cooling function is on and the water tank is drained. Your tank must be 100% full before running the cooling function all night. Finally, my remote stopped working after the first day. I changed the battery, but it's still dead. Bottom line: This system is portable, light wt, easy to set-up, quiet and when the ice parks are full of ice, it is very cool (not AC cool). You need at least 9-10 ice packs for 8 Hrs of cool air, but then the cooler without ice may suffice in a dry climate. The remote (at least mine) is junk. So, if you live in a humid climate, you may not be happy with this system unless you stock up on ice packs and enjoy multiple trips to the freezer.. Also, forget cool air while sleeping...just run a regular fan. ... show more

  • Quiet, powerful
Color: Gray
I really enjoyed this evaporative cooler after our last one broke! Some comments: - Water leakage: unlikely. The top and bottom of the unit are integrated, I haven't figured out how to get them apart. You pour water into the top, which is convenient and lovely (other evaporative coolers strictly contraindicate this!). That's all to say, this has not leaked and the chances are very low! - Build Quality - elegant, this is fairly lightweight for the size and confers confidence as far as what plastic they used throughout. This was also build to have THREE sides of water radiator type strictures on all sides of a large, slow-moving fan, which is maximizing evaporation. The fan itself is large and slow to make it as quiet as possible. - For ease of movement, I would say this would be easy although I haven't tried it with a full tank. Because the bottom tank is sealed, I would not expect any leak during movement, modulo the weight. - The "swing" mode goes up and down and left and right. You can turn it off at a desired position if you want to "aim" the air flow, which is a nice option to have. - It's fairly quiet, I would say it's quieter than a nice box fan. It comes with a remote that works fine and battery included. - The reservoir is quite a bit larger than some competitors which is important, water can evaporate quickly with these things. Altogether I was very pleased with this product and it has kept me very cool! ... show more
