This AC unit is small but powerful. I’m using it in a pretty large room but it cools it down quickly. I had a little difficulty with the window panel and securing it but otherwise, I’m happy with the unit. I especially like the timer function so we can set it and bedtime and have it go off in 1-2 hours. It has a remote control which makes turning it off and on, setting the timer, etc from bed nice and easy. It makes some noise but it’s like white noise and I certainly would not describe it as noisy. This room is unbearable once it gets warm but not anymore with this unit.

I ordered the “8,000 BTU” version of this portable AC unit. My home here in Florida has central air, but it’s an old system. That means that when it malfunctions from time to time in the oppressive heat that exists during most of the year, we figured it would be helpful to have a unit like this available to provide some respite in at least one room of the house while we’re sourcing parts and attempting repairs to our main AC. We figured it could also serve additional functions, such as possibly being something we could plug into a power bank or generator (we’ll have to check compatibility) when the electricity is out after hurricanes or during bad thunderstorms, just to cool, again, at least one room. When those disasters aren’t in play, as they usually aren’t, we thought it might be a good idea to keep this in our guest room so that guests could choose whatever temperature feels most comfortable to them rather than suffering thru what we tend to prefer for our whole home, which I believe is hotter than average. It was moderately easy to set up the window exhaust panel in our guest room, but it doesn’t feel as secure as I’d like, and it feels pretty flimsy as well. It will work temporarily for us, but we’ll probably end up splurging on an upgrade for that specific part. The unit itself feels much sturdier than the window panel, and it works well, cooling our guest room way down below the temperature of the rest of the house. I’ll have to buy one of those under-door guards to keep the cold air contained to that room, I think. It does make some noise when running, but I consider it a white noise that’s not really bothersome. It pulls lots of moisture out of the air, which I don’t necessarily consider something I always want, as I sometimes run a humidifier in my own room to prevent my throat and skin from getting too dry while I sleep. Hopefully, guests will enjoy the dry air. I do really like the wheels, which make it easy to move this unit from room to room, even across my carpet. And it doesn’t take up a whole bunch of space, which is great for my already cramped guest room.

The media could not be loaded. Just installed today and working great so far. Pumps out cool air, and the dehumidifier is running with a tube draining into a larger bucket and immediately started pulling a substantial amount of water out of the air. You will probably have to cut the window set, as other reviews have maybe mentioned, I forget. However, it is not metal (as I think some said), it’s plastic. A pair of tin snippers will cut it easily anyway, but you could probably use just a sturdy pair of scissors cuz it’s not that thick. Context is I bought a Black + Decker last year and the compressor stopped working after a month, so I’ve been paranoid and doing research on better ones. I may be back to change this review if this machine also knocks out. Still, the compressor on this machine is already substantially quieter than the B+D and the dehumidifier works better. It’s also very easy to roll, even on carpet, not super heavy to lift, and is working great for my space so far. Overall, very happy with this purchase so far. For the price, it’s def doing what it needs to do rn. Just know installation will take a bit longer if you don’t have something to cut the window kit.

Selected this unit due to the value, reviews and reported coverage area. I guess you can only trust reviews so much. So far, so okay... It's loud and fearing that this is a major electricity sucker. My current electricity usage is already more than we used for the entire month of June and we're only 9 days into July. It's starting to make a noise and not sure if it's normal or we have an issue already. The room we use this in is only 250 sq ft and it's rated for up to 450 sq ft. We've set the cool to temp at 68 and it has yet to cut off. Running for almost a week without shutting off automatically. We've had to shut it off manually.

The unit cools my small room quickly, and it's been a lifesaver during the hot summer. However, it is a bit lout, not unbearable, but definitely noticeable. One thing that disappointed me was the BTU rating. It was advertised as 10,000 BTU, but the box label says 6,000BTU. I understand that 10,000 might be under ideal lab conditions, but cleaner labeling would've helped manage expectations. also, the window bracket it comes with feels filmsy and doesn't stay steady - gotta buy a new one (about 30$) cuz it wobbles a lot and doesn't seem built to last! overall it does the job well for small space, but there are a few things to keep in mind!
