  • Easy to read and informative
I learned a lot. Very easy to read for a new DIY person. The projects are practical and attractive. Farmhouse table plan could be a future project.

  • Not what I was hoping for
This book is just a list of basic tools. It doesn't really contain anything new or interesting for me, maybe this is for children. I should have returned it.

  • Pretty basic
My husband bought this and bought one for his nephew but it was a bit simple for what he wanted.

  • Lots of good stuff
Comprehensive book

  • Worthless
Do you need to know what an extension cord is, or a hammer? Maybe you're not sure what a ladder or safety glasses or tape is used for? What could that be, a table saw? Wow not sure what that might be used for. The first third of the book, before I stopped reading, was a list of basic tools you might teach your 5 year old along with Thomas the tank engine. Total waste of time and money. Shame on you Popular mechanics, AI could have wrote this garbage. ... show more

  • Extremely basic overview of tools. Nothing ultimate about it...
This book is written for the bargain bin at Barnes and Noble for a 8 year old child to buy his Craftsman father for Christmas. There is very basic information, and if you've worked with toos or are a handy man you will find 0 new info here. They should have made the pictures half the size and included a few pages on each tool covered and also removed the dumb projects section. ... show more

  • Too basic.
Absolute waste of time. No real info.

  • Disappointing: too simple, too superficial
It has a good list of tools to cover but doesn't tell you much about any of them, doesn't tell much about what to look for in a good one, very short coverage of each tool. Might be a good book to go over with a child.
