This was easy to install and a good replacement for the original. The key is a little hard to insert in the lock, which should keep the dirt out.

The plate on the latch was bent in shipping, probably not the sellers problem. It was easy to straighten with a hammer and anvil (drive way). Other than that I am completely satisfied with the lock. It fit exactly like the original and seams to be very high quality. I did used a little dry lube on it before I installed it. I used the lube in the locks also, after lubing the locks, the keys seemed to slide in and out easier. Have not been on a camping trip yet but everything seems to be as it should. ... show more

    • Great value for the price vrs dealership.
Used this lock to replace a similar lock of same size on my Cargo Craft trailer. Installation was easy, my only complaint is the key doesn't initially slide in the lock as easy as the original.

This is a rock solid door lock and handle for your RV or teardrop trailer. I made my own door and although it required some tricky cuts to install, the door latch did install easily and is very solid/rigid in the door, giving a very strong feeling of confidence when using it. Would definitely buy again for any other trailer I might need one for. Also the lock mechanism and handle work smoothly without any hitches or excessive slop. ... show more

    • Weak plastic deadbolt latch and flimsy keys.
Looks great, feels flimsy. I installed this door latch in my 2003 Artic Fox travel trailer to replace the rear exterior door that was damaged from a break in. The door frame had some damage from a pry bar and the previous latch was stuck closed. After a tricky removal of the old latch the new one took about 20 minutes to install. If my door frame wasn't damaged it probably would have taken about 10 minutes for the average person who can handle a screwdriver. The Achilles heel of this latch is the plastic dead bolt latch. There is no metal reinforcement so it feels like it would strip easily if the deadbolt has any resistance engaging or disengaging. The keys also feel very bendable yet brittle. I'm on the fence about returning it and spending the extra $15 for an upgraded model. All the other components seem very sturdy. ... show more
