I’m pretty impressed by this solar fountain! It’s a fantastic option if you don’t have outside electricity and don’t want to run an extension cord out of your house to the pond, or in my case duck pool. It’s super easy to set up, and it’s plug and play with the solar panel. I would note that the strength of the pump and flow/throw of the fountain fluctuates with the strength of the sun. (Eg if a cloud goes over, it gets weaker, and if it’s 100% clear sky it’s at full throtle!) Obviously since it’s solar it does not work at night because there is no battery storage for the solar. It only works directly off of the panel. In terms of keeping the pool clean, two ducks and I a 200 gal pool. It helps keep the pool decent for about 8 days, along with barely straw, before it needs a water change. The more often you clean the filter the longer it helps filter out the muck. Ducks are messy, so I think this would be ideal for an ornamental pond or something with fish. I believe in that case it would keep things clean way longer than with ducks. All in all, I think it’s great! I love that you can set it and forget it in terms of the solar. It does as much filtering as I expected knowing ducks are messy. They love the fountain and it keeps the water circulating. I’d totally buy this again if I ever needed another one!

It cleared up the algae, but I have to clean the foam filter media daily. If there is no flow, there is continuous algae growth. I bought cotton batting to add to the filter box and hopefully that will catch all the algae. It will take time, regular cleaning an plenty of beneficial bacteria I suppose. The solar panels suvk though. They are extremely sensitive compared to the panel for my aerator. If it is slightly cloudy, yet bright, it won't power up. There has to be full sun and I have to move the panels every couple hours to follow the sun.

Foe a small.8 foot wide pond this has been the best pump I've purchased . Easy to use and put together, and the height of the fountain on a sunny day is about 4 foot tall. It's beautiful

This would be perfect for my small turtle pond (2 turtles) but it does not stay submurged in the pond, it keeps floating to the top. My loss. The instructions are not that helpful either. Nothing matches any of the parts.

I was skeptical about how effective it could be, especially after unpacking and seeing how easy assembly was. But the moment I plugged the cords together the pump kicked on and the fountain was going. I’ve since used the included tubing to take a small waterfall about 3’ over the filter with plenty of flow Took a few days of fiddling to find the right location/folding of panels to capture the most light, and I had to put a small stone in the filter to keep it from lifting at first. But otherwise very easy to use.

We've had it less than a week and the part where you connect the solar panel to the stake is already broken. We have sandy soil and it isn't that hard to put stakes into. My second complaint is that for $100, I wish it had a battery to store solar power. If it's not full on blazing sun then it doesn't work at all.

i WAS VERY AGRY WHEN i FIRST RECEIVED THIS (see ORIGINAL REVIEW). There is an easy fix. When you receive the product, just pop off the solar panel back plate. It is the black one inch square plastic in the center. It is lightly glued on. I used a good gel super glue -- entire small tube -- to put it back on. Be careful when mounting, as it is still fragile plastic. It holds well. The functions are magnificent. Water stays clean as a whistle. It is well worth the money, if you don't mind the initial hassle. Superb product with one major engineering flaw. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Total and complete garbage! After preparing the post to hand the solar panel, I tried to hang it up. What a joke on me. The LOAD BEARING piece of plastic to hold up this rather heavy and substantial panel was spot glued on. It fell apart during the mounting process. Totally and completely disgusted with the LACK of intelligent engineering that went into this product. How much brains does it take to know a "load-bearing" point must bear a load? I certainly know where I'd like to mount the solar panel now!
