Pond Aerator So I'm using this for something just a little different - Or maybe it's not, as I've never had a 'pond' per se. The set up is a baby pool, the 2nd smallest one you can get at large department stores. It is for the chickens, who prefer that over their actual waterer. It tends to like to get green stuff in the summer, and also in the winter since we keep it heated to not freeze. But I heard that these can be used year-round, to keep the top from freezing, so I can skip the heater. So that is why I wanted to test this aerator. Though I've never used an aerator before, this seems pretty standard to me. It isn't too loud. It has four nozzles with tubes that can be turned on, off, or anywhere in between with individual valves. I feel that the instructions could have been a bit more detailed, as I'm new to these, and the print could have been a bit larger, and the paper better quality. They give you PLENTY of hose. Since this is a shallow pool, I was able to cut them to length to get them just where I wanted them. It comes with big weights to keep the hoses from floating. The motor itself is small and unobtrusive. You do have to keep it out of "direct sunlight" and keep it dry, so that does make it so you have to install some kind of cover. We put ours up on a brick, and then put an upside down bucket on it, with another brick on top. I don't like that look, so we'll be investing in an actual housing later. (The motor itself looks nice, but if it's in a housing, you'll never see it anyway.) The power cord is long enough to be useful, though if yours is out in the middle of the yard like ours, you'll need an extension cord, or to install an outdoor outlet. This appears to be a mid-priced unit, judging by similar ones on Amazon. We have all valves open to full and it is making very nice bubbles in the pool. ... show more

Let me start by saying this: I only bought this Devopet aerator as a backup. My usual brand has been letting me down for a decade straight — one to two years of life, then poof, dead pump, stressed fish, and me sprinting to the shed like a firefighter with a net. So I figured, “Alright, my current pump is about due for its annual dramatic exit. Let me grab a spare.” Then this thing showed up on my porch at 6‑something in the morning. I didn’t even know Amazon trucks were awake at that hour. I was still half-asleep, holding coffee, wondering if I accidentally ordered a pizza instead of a pond pump. But nope — it was the Devopet kit, and wow… this thing comes loaded. Air stones, hoses, check valves, filters — basically everything except someone to install it for you. Build Quality Right out of the box, it feels like an upgrade from the brand I’ve been loyal to for 10 years. Solid housing, copper motor, and the airflow? Let’s just say when I plugged it in to test, it looked like my pond was trying to boil itself. In a good way. Performance I’ve got a big setup — a main koi pond with some hefty fish, plus two bogs with goldfish. This pump didn’t even blink. It pushed air like it was trying to impress somebody. Noise Level Quiet. Like… suspiciously quiet. If my old pump sounded like a lawnmower with allergies, this one sounds like a polite whisper from across the room. Why I Bought It Because when you’ve got years of time, money, and fish invested, you don’t gamble with oxygen. I keep backups in my pond shed like a doomsday prepper keeps canned beans.
