The pump motor will not operate unless the adjustable knob is set all the way to the highest position. If you turn it down to adjust the flow rate as they state, the motor stalls and quits pumping.

I used this on a small backyard pond that needed a little more water movement during the warmer months. Having the tubing, check valves, and air stones included meant I wasn't making extra trips looking for parts before I could get everything running. The pump is quiet enough that it blends into the background once it's set up. Standing next to the pond, the bubbling water is more noticeable than the pump itself. Both air stones produced a steady stream of bubbles, and the added circulation was easy to see. The tubing is long enough to give some flexibility with where the pump sits, although routing and hiding the airline takes a little planning if you want everything to look tidy. Once everything was in place, there wasn't much left to adjust. After letting it run, it became one of those pieces of equipment that you don't think about much. It just sits there moving air into the pond, and that's exactly what I wanted it to do.

This is an inexpensive aerator/air pump. Although it says it's for a pond I'm not totally convinced it can be left outside in the elements without the pump itself filling with water or shorting out. I guess time will tell. It comes with two air stones but they are very low quality in the bubbles are very large. The whole idea of aerating your pond is to dissolve oxygen into the water to benefit the fish in the plants. Smaller bubbles provide better aeration. The pump itself has two outlets and a knob to allow you to adjust the air volume coming out of them. The pump even at its highest volume can barely keep both stones bubbling. I invested in a much better stone that is flat and can lay easily on the bottom of the pond. It produces very tiny air bubbles. I have closed off one of the air outlets on the pump and have just one feeding the new stone. The volume is set to high. The fish are constantly swimming through the stream of tiny air bubbles particularly on hot summer days. The biggest problem is the tubing. It's very narrow stretchy and floats. You have to wait the tubing down on the pond bottom. I've tried to camouflage the tubing as it comes up and out of the pond but inevitably some animal, probably a squirrel nod through the tubing. I've had to fix it three times in a month. I highly recommend you invest in a higher quality tubing that is designed to sink into the pond and not be so tasty to the wildlife.
