  • Amazing
Color: 114 - 1.75mm Grey (Hex Code: #8d8e93)
I've been using Hatchbox PLA, eSUN PLA+, and ELEGOO Plus for the last few years, but I saw a few posts on reddit saying how much better Polymaker PLA Pro is and decided to give it a try. I'm happy to say that the hype was well-deserved. It's by far the best filament I've ever tried. I primarily print small D&D minis with my Ender 5 and when I compare a mini made from Polymaker PLA Pro vs any of the other brands I listed above, the Polymaker PLA Pro minis are stronger with less stringing and a little more detail than any of the other options. The layer adhesion is notably better with a much smoother and clean finish. Because the layer adhesion is so strong thin parts that usually bend or break during printing come out clean and strong. For me, that means I can print minis with thin legs or small tools and they not only come out looking great but have enough strength to be handled. Many of my minis have scales or chainmail and other tiny details that used to be washed out, but now all the small details are there. Some minis have spears or sharp spikes and those used to come out slightly rounded and blunt, using the playmaker they come out so sharp I have to dull them a bit. Usually, I print minis at 130% size so all the details come out, but with this filament, I can print them at their standard size. This saves me a ton of time and filament and the minis are still stronger and less brittle than the other brands I've tried. If I'd known how much better my minis would be I would have been buying this stuff from the start. It's slightly more expensive, but it quickly pays for itself when you have no failures and your prints are strong enough that they don't need to be reprinted. I'm not sponsored or anything, it really is that much better and has really upped the quality of my minis. 10/10 ... show more

  • This is the best filament I have ever used
Color: 111 - 1.75mm Black (Hex Code: #161619)
I have been printing for over 10 years and have used all the "best stuff" as that changed throughout the years. I have also spent a lot of time dialing in to different petgs which is a nightmare at times. I recently began printing some parts that needed superior strength and rigidity. This ruled out pla and petg, I considered asa or poly but those have challenges in getting a good print and need to be printed on polycarbonate plates, which requires me to use another printer besides my prusa, but I love my prusa 🤣, not that I don't love my other printers. Anyway, I ran across someone recommending this polymaker stuff and thought I would give it a go. I started with a prusa pla profile and made a couple tweaks and tried it out. My first print was gorgeous, beautiful layer lines and pretty easy to dial in first layer height and temp etc. Hotter temps tended to cause issues with corners curling on small squares, but dialing it back cured that, I settled on 200-210 and that works well. I had to adjust my extrusion flow rate for each color, they are not all the same so keep that in mind. Over extruding of course will cause issues with dimensional parts and this filament exaggerated it for some reason, but keep the temp reasonable and extrusion at the lower limit and you will get amazing parts. Here is where I had trouble, the filament is so strong and so cohesive that supports suddenly became a permanent piece of the part. It is hard to even cut with a knife, and sanding is not as effective as regular pla so the durability bites you in that regard. I had to take my xy spacing for supports from 50% to 75% and z spacing to .2mm. This eliminated my drooping lines (similar to what petg likes to do) and made the supports pull off often in one solid piece leaving a very clean part behind. With these little tweaks you will have great success with this filament and I swear it's near bulletproof. It has a soft feel in your hand but great rigidity and feels almost like an injection molded part, not ceramic like some pla. If I had to quantify it I would say it's 80% pla and 20% petg, not that it really is, but that's what it performs like. I highly recommend it and I don't think I'll ever buy anything else, bubbye hatchbox!!! Ps, I love the idea of a recyclable spool, but HATE IT in execution, if I could I would rewind it onto an old plastic spool. The spool gets bent and drags, it leaves cardboard shreds in the spool holder, it has a lot more resistance to rotating than a plastic one so I feel a poorly made or tuned extruder may slip while feeding. That is one thing that bothers me, but I guess I'll just have to deal with it cuz I love the filament. ... show more

  • Awesome stuff. Could be just a little darker but still love the color
Color: 113 - 1.75mm 3d Print General Flat Dark ...
The media could not be loaded. So to start off, this 3D general FDE polylite PLA pro is pretty amazing and I’m about to buy my 3rd&4th rolls. Dimensional accuracy is slightly better than .05mm where I checked but I didn’t take pictures of my gauge and only checked twice during 1 long (34hr) print about halfway through the roll. It’s got great properties all around, including both impact resistance and rigidity. It’s flexible but still very stiff. I haven’t tested the heat resistance, although it’s not something I’m terribly worried about. It’s super easy to print with and it prints really well with great layer adhesion, some slight warping on steep overhangs and really thin areas if you don’t use fans. I used 30-50% fans and printed relatively slow for anything too crazy and was virtually warp-free. I probably could’ve printed faster tbh but I prefer quality over speed. (The brace and hand stop were printed on an sv06 using the default prusaslicer speed settings with default dynamic overhang speeds and fan at 40% bridges at 100% and they printed perfectly. The only time I had any stringing at all was about a week into using the roll without drying it. I dried it for 6hrs at 55°c in a sunlu dryer box and it was good to go again. So I do recommend keeping it dry or drying it periodically, as it shows more hydrophilic tendencies or symptoms than other PLA plus filaments I’ve used. It has an incredibly awesome matte/flat finish that’s really hard to get with most other PLA plus filaments (that’s probably my favorite feature of this filament tbh), and the color is really great although it’s more of a desert tan than FDE in my opinion. I guess desert tan could be considered a shade of fde these days with how many different shades there are lol but it’s fairly light. All in all it’s absolutely awesome and I’ve almost completely switched over from eSun (except for a couple amazing colors that eSun does best like the olive green *chef’s kiss* and their grey is awesome too). Still giving 5 stars even tho I wish the color was more of a true FDE. Can’t beat the printability or material properties. And that matte finish tho 🤌👌 ... show more
