While it has high breaking strength, it is not designed to absorb the energy of dynamic lead falls like a dynamic rock climbing rope. Does the rope absorb water or sink? No. Our rope is made from high-tenacity polyester which naturally repels water. It remains lightweight and retains its strength even in wet marine conditions. Can I cut this rope? How do I prevent fraying? Yes, you can cut it to your desired length. We recommend wrapping the cut area with tape before cutting, and then melting the ends with a heat source to seal the fibers and prevent unraveling.

I picked up this 200-foot spool for some heavy-duty clearing and tree work, and it has absolutely held up its end of the bargain. Right out of the package, you can tell the build quality is there. The 1/2-inch thickness gives you a great, substantial grip in the hand, which is exactly what you want when you're managing heavy logs or rigging down large limbs. It has a nice, tight braid that doesn’t instantly start fraying or fuzzing up the second it rubs against rough bark or passes through a rigging block. In terms of performance, it has just the right amount of play. It’s a low-stretch line, so when you tie off a load, you don’t have to worry about the rope acting like a rubber band under tension. It holds knots incredibly well—knots seat tightly but are still relatively easy to untie after being loaded down. The fact that it meets ASTM standards gives you that extra peace of mind when you are working with heavy material overhead. The only minor thing to watch out for is that it can be a bit stiff right at first, which is pretty standard for a brand-new polyester rigging line. After a few uses and running it through a few pulls, it breaks in nicely and becomes much more pliable. Man this rope is awesome and heavy duty. I use it as my emergency descent rope while climbing trees. Once I have climbed high enough I secure this rope to the tree and descend. There are lots of products that lend themselves to bargain shopping, climbing rope are parachutes are worth paying a little more for. That said, the rope appears to be of sufficient strength and quality to hang a swing in the back yard or to keep for emergency towing, or any number of uses other than rappelling. As a top rope climbing rope it's a little stiff, but would be fine. I don't plan on using it as a climbing rope or for rappelling, but it's good enough and cheap enough that I'm ordering another 150 feet. ... show more

We used this rope today in a controlled rigging application, and it failed well below its advertised working capacity. The rope is rated for 9,000 lbs. Our winch is rated for 2,000 lbs, and the load being rigged was approximately 1,500 lbs—well within both the winch’s and the rope’s stated limits. Despite this, the rope snapped during a standard rigging operation. This was not a shock-loaded situation, nor was the rope subjected to forces anywhere near its listed rating. Based on the conditions and setup, this failure raises serious concerns about the accuracy of the product’s strength rating and overall reliability. In tree work and rigging, equipment failure like this is not just inconvenient—it’s a significant safety risk. Fortunately, no one was injured, but this could have easily resulted in property damage or worse. At this point, we cannot trust this rope for professional use and would not recommend it for rigging applications where safety and load reliability are critical. ... show more
