Description
Polly Plastics Moldable Plastic is perfect for making plastic parts without injection molds or 2-part epoxy systems. Just heat the pellets in hot water above 150 degrees F for 2-3 minutes until they turn from white to clear. Remove them from the water and you can mold them into any shape you desire. Upon cooling, they will be strong and permanent. If you change your mind, you can reheat and modify until you get it right. Since this plastic is so strong, you can drill it, sand it, varnish it or superglue it to something else. Safe to use. Polly Plastics Moldable Plastic is great for crafts, art projects, home repair, model making, toys, cosplay costumes/masks and prototyping. Use it make custom parts, handles, grips, hooks, brackets and cases. We’ve included an Idea & Instruction booklet to help you get started and inspire your creativity. Add color by melting a few Polly Plastics Color Pellets (sold separately) along with the moldable pellets. Or you can add powder paint or alcohol dye (available at craft stores) to the molten plastic. Alternatively, apply acrylic paints or special spray paints for plastics after your part has cooled. Add a polyurethane top coat to lock in color. You can even color the surface with permanent markers. MAKE props, costumes, decorations, jewelry, or toys Use to MEND broken parts and pieces, fabricate missing game pieces, repair objects, fill gaps, cover exposed wires or even make a nut for your bolt. Oh the possibilities!

This stuff is neat. Very easy to use. I recommend an electric kettle and starting with really hot water and letting it cool to a handleable temperature after becoming translucent and removing from the water. Although I did read the instructions, without thinking I donned my vinyl food service gloves. I barely poked the softened material before realizing that was a bad idea. It would have stuck to it. So I quickly removed them and carried on. Now, the reason I bought these thermoplastic pellets (in addition to just being the crafty sort of individual) is for an off label use. The instructions clearly state that it is not for internal use and I accept any liability in my usage of it. With that disclaimer in mind, it does work for making a mold of your teeth. It doesn't taste bad or like anything actually while molding it to teeth. I can imagine that it could very well stick pretty well to teeth if you swished cold water around and it really set up, but that's not what I'm trying to do with it. I love that you can just keep warming it back up to reuse it. I can see using it for many different prototypes and quick fixes where you need to replace a lost piece. Done with one modeled item? Make a mistake? Remelt it and make it into something else. It is fairly flexible when cooled, but solid, not brittle. I tested it by bending several times and it didn't break. Excess material needed to be cut away. They say it can be sanded but I haven't tested that yet. It is white in color but is not fully opaque. I can't wait to try coloring it! And now that I have a better idea of its material qualities, I can't wait to see what uses I will find for it. The 7oz I purchased will go a long way but I can definitely see myself reordering!

Let me tell you the story...

...of a dumb person. That dumb person is me. Once upon a time, a complete idiot put a non-dishwasher-safe water bottle into the dishwasher and washed it. The bottle emerged warped, and thankfully the lid still screwed on so it was usable, but the bottom had shrunk so the plastic in the center stuck out, making it unable to stand upright. The child who owned the water bottle was none too pleased. That left the dumb person with a conundrum. How to fix the water bottle? Then, a flash of inspiration. The dumb person sought out and purchased a bag of Polly Plastics pellets, having used a similar plastic in the past for making silly things like props and monster teeth for LARPing in their youth. In the old days, this friendly plastic came in strips and was a hassle to heat and shape. The Polly Plastics pellets, however, were very easy to use - with only boiled water from a kettle, the dumb person was able to put some pellets into a coffee mug that the water bottle fit snugly into, heat them with the water, then pour off the water and jam the water bottle into the mug. After twisting it to and fro a few times, the dumb person easily extracted the water bottle and was delighted to find that it now sported a crude-but-functional flat bottom. The child was pleased, and the dumb person was now slightly less dumb, and could almost be considered innovative. Please note that the water bottle certainly now cannot go into the dishwasher as melting Polly Plastics pellets would surely wreak havoc, but fortunately this water bottle is very distinctive and the lesson has certainly been learned. Since repairing the water bottle the child has absconded with the bag of Polly Plastics pellets, as they are working on cosplay and were very keen to use it to make teeth and claws and all sorts of thingamajigs. Thank you, Polly Plastics, as your pellets have positively saved the day.

Santa was repaired

Great stuff. Have repaired blow mold Santa and Mrs Claus because of wind damage. This moldable plastic is paintable and matched the holes perfectly. Is stronger than original material. So glad I found it. Repaired instead of costly replacement. Thank you.

HANDLE WITH CARE!
Well I like how easy it is to shape to my needs. Sucker is hot AF tho! Be careful when handling it when out of the water. I let the water drip off for about 3 seconds with 2 gentle shakes. What I didnt like was, it stuck to the bottom of my pot and my tongs I used. I'm not sure of it's the type if pot I have but I let it cool down a bit and I was able to just wipe the pot clean. My tongs however I had to pick a bit to clean it off. I am using this product to to refill my polymer 80% lower I messed up on while milling. I'll try to give an update when I remill the lower. Hope it works. But so far excellent product.

All around useful and a Handi-Accessible must
I have gone thru numerous bottles of this stuff, and given it as gifts to several friends and family members. I even put some into my toiletry kit for emergencies while traveling. How have I used it? Making hanging accessories for my rolling desk. Replacing a broken door basket bracket in my refrigerator. Fixing a broken oven door pull until I could order a replacement. Re-attaching a cut piece of body trim in my car when my lift was removed. Filling in stripped out screw holes to make quick repairs. Replacing the top of a car key fob so I could put it back on my key chain. Making various handi-assist items I can put on the end of a metal tipped paint pole. Like... Custom socket/hook so I could unlock and open a door without having to roll up over a large tile border. Custom socket to open and close heating vents in my ceiling. A large hook so I can close my van doors from the other side of my scooter lift without scratching the paint. A custom socket to turn the stove knobs from a seated position without leaning over hot elements, and putting tabs on numerous things so they can be hung where I can easily access them. I love this stuff.

I have made moldable plastic dental dentures for missing bottom and upper teeth. NICE!
I am a 78 year old retired guy who has lost a lot of teeth. I wanted to avoid multiple trips to a dentist spending $1000-$1500 for a flexible partial denture. I thought that I might be able to fabricate these non toxic Polly Plastics Moldable Plastic Pellets into a denture that could be molded exactly to the empty area of my bottom jaw. It worked pretty good. But... I lost some more teeth and I need to make an upper denture! Well... I just did it, I made my own plastic upper dentures! I only have two teeth on my upper jaw, a molar on the right upper side and another tooth on the left upper side of my jaw. My bottom jaw is missing three teeth, for which I've also made a bottom, plastic denture. I used about $1 of moldable plastic pellets to mold a denture across my upper jaw, making sure that the plastic hooked over both teeth and also covered all of my jaw in between the two teeth. I heat the plastic pellets, in water, in the microwave, for 90 seconds, then carefully remove the soft, hot plastic and, after it cools sufficiently, I mold it where I need it on my jaw. For the first time in years, I can actually eat normally, chewing using my front teeth (so to speak), or chewing any other place along my jaw! It might not be pretty, but it works, and it costs pennies! I don't keep them in, I remove them after eating, because I am not sure if it would be healthy to leave the plastic in my mouth.

I Think I Received An Old Batch

I followed the instructions precisely when trying to use these casting pellets. I heated the water to exactly 150°F (using a candy thermometer) and added the pellets. I allowed the water to come back up to 150° but the pellets didn't even start to melt. I raised the temperature to 200°, and the pellets finally started to gel a little bit and congeal. They never did melt into a clear mass as they were supposed to. This made it very difficult for me to mold these pellets, since they never did what they were supposed to. Not impressed!
