These Polk Es55 are excellent and tone is well balanced! Live performances Sound like they are in my Home! Downside These speakers made my other speakers including the Polk center S35 not Worthy and i now use a phantom center with these es55 towers for Movies. I used to listen to Music in Sonys Multi Stereo to provide false imaging/surround, these Towers changed the game. I now listen to all music and most movies in Stereo w/Subwoofer. Pros: - Warm Mid Range brings Male Vocals, Electric guitars, and horns up front. -Excellent Soundstage. Center imaging is easy set and Stereo imaging can be pin pointed throughout pan effects. - Treble is easy on the Ears! Most speakers in this price range are overly bright. These are detailed but won't be ear piercing during loud listening. - Clean and Defined bass. Not Boomy at all! - Great size. Not to big Not to Tall. - Crossover set at 90hz with a Sub brings out excellent mid punch and definition. - Sound is 3D when speakers are driven Cons -Bass is not loud, You will need a Subwoofer for Movies and a Live feel of music or place them close to a wall. -Treble is slightly muted for acoustic guitars. Good match for a sharp sounding Amp/Receiver. Others might* need to bump up Treble by +1 in Amp/Receiver. - Speakers must be driven/played loud to perform to their potential. Not recommended for someone playing music at low volume. - Dust Screen drastically affects speaker performance. This is a given but screens must removed to fully expect awesomeness of these speakers. ... show more

These hit WAY above their weight class. I have mine bi-amped with a Denon AVR-X2400H with an ELAC Debut 10inch powered subwoofer and they just sing. From Acoustic to classical to rock to rap it doesn't matter what I throw at them. They seem to sound better the longer I listen to them. You won't be disappointed.
