The reviews are so confusing because they are literally for different models in the lineup. Amazon please fix this. ES20 Review: I live in a studio apartment in NYC so getting a 5.2 system was overkill by far. I bought these ES20 monitors to compliment a single ES60 in a bi-amp configuration. As standalone bookshelf speakers, these aren’t bad at all. The mods and highs are CRISP and CLEAN. As you can imaging the bass is not ground shaking but it is adequate. Where these monitors really shine is when I connect my ES60 giving me an immersive experience. I ordered everything in white and omg they are a masterpiece. Zero regrets here except perhaps I could have gotten away with using the ES10’s as well ES60: I’m operating a white single unit in a big amp configuration. One channel for the highs and another channel from the amp for the mids and lows. Much like my review above for the ES20, the 60 is crisp, clean and loud once powered up well. I initially had 80 watts going to the speaker but they seemed weak so now it’s 160 and perfect. Could probably be even better with more. More than adequate for an apartment. Again it’s not going to rattle your floors but damn this thing can get loud. I probably don’t need a separate subwoofer but that’s always an option if you really crave hair raising bass. 5 Stars all around for build quality, weight, appearance, clarity and loudness! ... show more

I purchased a 5.1 system from Polk: ES15 bookshelf speakers, ES10 Surround speakers, TL1 center speaker, and a PSW10 subwoofer. It replaced a Cambridge Soundworks set of speakers. I have had these for a couple years now. I'm not an audiophile but I find the clarity and range of the speakers to be great. They were very reasonably priced and the sub-woofer in particular performed well. I am driving them with a pretty basic Sony receiver (STRDH790) and it just works. An especially loud shoutout for Polk's service. I had an issue with my sub-woofer and they worked with me and made it right very quickly. So I ordered a new pair and an Amazon “refurbished” pair. I’m leaving 5 stars because I don’t want this review to negatively impact an EXCELLENT set of speakers. Polk has really stepped up their speaker game again and it’s refreshing to see. BUT, The refurbished pair came in the correct box, but inside was a set of T15’s and NOT the ES15’s as ordered, (see pic). The new pair ordered arrived as described, so I’m able to rate them 5 stars. The highs are crisp and while I’m in a 7.2.4 set up, I cannot comment on the base response as I’m crossed over at 80hz to the dual subs, but the to front presence ES15’s have a fantastic build quality, sound great and look fantastic, (as opposed to say KEF’s which sound great too, but look boring af). Oh and these ES15’s compliment the ES35 Center beautifully as well. I’ll be returning these refurbed ones back and when I get refunded, intend to (without hesitation) will purchase another set for rear surrounds, but NEW this time! BTW, I’m replacing my 17yr old Bose AM16 system with these Polks and feel like I have significantly upgraded my surround system, even though those Bose sounded great still, I got an Rx-A8A and felt like a speaker upgrade was in order too. I have ZERO regret on these so far, although I did opt for Klipsch 12swi subs, (which are awesome too)! If I didn’t purchase KEF Q950’s for fronts before, I would seriously have taken a second look at Elite Polk towers. Keep it coming Polk! Affordable, quality and beauty, what a recipe!! ... show more

Purchased these as near field monitor speakers for enjoyment purposes as I'm not a producer. I do zero musical creation. I have these connected to a Fosi BT30D Pro at my desk and am thoroughly impressed! They're still breaking in, but initial impressions are a HUGE upgrade from an old Vizio soundbar with subwoofer I had connected. Audio feels full and vibrant. Speakers are set at a downward angle towards standard sitting position, which is 4ft evenly from each speaker. Volume does not have to be set obnoxiously loud to enjoy the bass levels. Tuned properly, there's no reason for you to second guess the audio quality. Appearances are well up there in my ratings as well. The black stained wood looks phenomenal. Cloth covers for the speakers are magnetic and do not look required to be connected. Aesthetics would not be compromised with the panels removed. Are there better options? Sure, possibly. However, you should get what looks as good as it sounds. ... show more

These speakers are great. Expensive, but worth it. Music is so much clearer, cleaner. I'm glad I went ahead and paid the money for better sound. I bought a Marantz single CD player too. So that helped a lot also. But these speakers replacing old Bose speakers are much better speakers.
