I'll admit, I questioned whether adding height speakers would really make that much of a difference. After installing the Polk Monitor XT90s on top of my XT70 tower speakers, I quickly realized why so many home theater enthusiasts recommend them. The biggest improvement wasn't that sounds were louder—it was that movies felt more immersive. Rain, aircraft, and ambient effects have a sense of height that wasn't there before. Instead of all the sound coming from around the TV, it feels like it fills the room. Installation was incredibly simple since they're designed to sit directly on top of the compatible Polk XT towers. They look like they belong there, making the setup clean and seamless without needing to mount speakers on the ceiling. Like the rest of the Monitor XT series, the sound is clear and well-balanced. They blend naturally with the rest of my system instead of calling attention to themselves, which is exactly what you want from height speakers. If you're already building a Dolby Atmos setup with Polk Monitor XT speakers, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these. They're one of those upgrades you don't fully appreciate until you hear the difference for yourself. These work really great in my 10x12 living room. I mounted them high on a wall, produce great sound perfectly rounding out my 5.1.2 system. Highly recommend if your on a tight budget like me.

The speakers perform really well and I’m very happy to finally be watching movies in Dolby Atmos. But, I really want to commend Polk’s customer service. I purchased these speakers in Feb of 2025. They worked great until a couple of months later one of them developed a slight hissing sound. So I called Polk customer service and immediately spoke to an advisor. She dismissed the issue as a driver problem and said they would send me a new one. So on Wednesday May 28th I first called Polk and by Monday June 2, had the new driver in my home. Excellent ATMOS speakers for the price. They can be mounted as Upfiring to reflect off of the ceiling; sitting on your towers, or wall mounted facing toward the main sitting area; as front height speakers. If you know what you're doing, these speakers will work for you and your ATMOS. If your ceiling is more than about 9 feet, upfiring speakers don't work well. Bouncing off of a ceiling takes some acoustical physics. But if your ceiling is less than 9 feet (like a basement theater room) then these can be a decent option. I actually use 3 sets of speakers for my atmost. These plus 2 other different brands. ALL 3 sets are up firing, but these polks sit on my towers, the other 2 pairs of speakers are mounted close to the ceiling on an entertainment wall unit. They still reflect off of the ceiling, but they are only inches away from the ceiling. (For those concerned, my receiver only has output for 1 pair of atmos speakers. My other 2 pair are 8 ohm speakers. I put them in parallel to give me 4 ohms; then these polks are 4 ohms so I put them in series with the other two that I've connected, and now I have 8 ohms again). Definitely worth buying if you have low ceiling OR if you're going to mount them at the wall/ceiling and point them down. ... show more

I am new to atmos so decided to go cheap to check it out. I am quite unimpressed by the feature - not sure if it is the speakers fault. Have tried new High Def Blu Rays of the Lord of the Rings, Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary concert, Harry Potter etc. and can't see any difference in sound except the left and right channels are now too loud. Will try to fix that via Yamaha AVR room customization. ... show more
