  • Precise, Clean, and Powerful !!!!!!!!
This amplifier is simply amazing from the size of it to what it can do. I have this paired with Infinity Kappa 693.9I and 6.5'' High Performance Pyle pdmw6 6.5 Mid-Bass Woofer, and two 10 inch self powered Infinity subwoofers with a sound storm 3 way cross over net work all neatly tied into a Nakamichi CD500 head unit. After finally getting everything hooked up and dialed in with the right gain setting's on the the amp all I can say is AMAZING!!!. I have all of this in a 2001 Dodge Ram Ext. cab. everyone and I mean everyone from my girlfriend to my friends who are musicians say this is the best most accurate sound system they have ever heard in a vehicle!!!!! The amp is never pushed and with it being turned down to 3/4 power it can still get so loud that you can't stand it! Whats incredible is it never gets distorted!!!! It's all about the amp and matching it up correctly to the rest of your system and its perfect for what I wanted to accomplish. If your serious about music and understand it you need this amp to be truly happy with your system! ... show more

  • bandpassable 4 channel amp , class d 125rms at 2 oms
great amp for a class d 4ch. i have three and two mono blocks , my favorite feature that makes me want this amp in 2022 , its been discontinued for 10 years , is the band-pass-able crossover , my first experience with this amp was two channels running 2 polk mm 6.5" component and two mm1540 woofers at 2 ohms bridged , this amp pushed the woofers to near xmax , couldnt tell it wasnt getting rms visually or audibly , and afters hours of play at high volume amps is cool and the mids never distorted or volume drop in and out when the bass gets heavy. great amp , i expanded to another 4 chn added 2 more pairs of mm 6.5 , now ive bought my third , i plan on putting all the tweeters on one amp , all the mid / high ranges on another and the mid / bass on the third . since the amps are band passable i can the mid high bandpass at 3k - 800 , and the mid bass on at 800hz - 100hz , and subs at 100hz - 10hz ... show more

  • Overheated after a month
I replaced my clarion amps I had on my boat for 4 years - never had an issue just looking for more power. I was surprised how hot these amps get since they are class d - after I month of use the amp keeps going into thermal protection. I called Polk and they do not warrant 3rd party sellers that are not authorized dealers. After spending 45 minutes on calls with Amazon they sent me a new one since the purchase was past 30 days. Let's see how this new one does. The sound is outstanding. ... show more

  • Missing Link to Music Nirvana
This amplifer is replacing a Kicker zx750 amplifier that was powering a set of Polk MM6501 components. I replaced it because I didn't have space for that large amp in my trunk, and I am only running one pair of speakers up front. This amp is about 1/3 the size of the Kicker. (Sub will be added shortly Polk MM 1040). All I have to say is WOW!!! I went from 85watts per channel to close to 150-175 watts per channel. The MM6501s are 2.7 ohm so you get a bit more power. The sound is lounder AND cleaner. I don't know if it sounds warmer, but after running all my music through it (Coltrane, Ozzie, Muse, Bethoven, Cocteau Twins, Robbie Robertson, Change) I have to say this amp handled all the music perfectly. I am not going to get in to the Class D vs Class AB, but I don't see any reason to get a big heavy amp that runs hot over one that's smaller, louder, puts out more power and runs cooler. If there is a difference in the music its too small to tell. I should also note, while this amp has a LOT of features (High Pass filter, Low pass filter which can be combined to make a band pass filter), I ran the amp full range, and crossed it over with my head unit (JVC KW-NT800HDT) AWESOME little amp, can't wait to put the remaining 400 watts through to the sub!!! ... show more

  • Nice Solid Amp with Great High, Low, and Bandpass Filters!
I bought this amp to drive my Scan Speak 4" midranges and 6.5" Boston Acoustic midbass speakers from the signal fed from a Pioneer 80PRS. I have the High feed from the Pioneer going to a separate amp and then to a set of Vifa tweeters (4KHz and up) and the mid signal (80Hz-4KHz) going to the Polk and then to the Scans and Bostons. The Pioneer has a 2-way active crossover and I really wanted a 3-way active system so I got this Polk and I use it to split the 80Hz-4Khz into 80Hz-300Hz for the mid bass Bostons, and 300Hz-4KHz for the Scan Speak midranges. The amp is small, and the connections are solid. The buttons and potentiometers are well laid out and it was easy to set things where I needed them. Barring any hardware failure I can say I am very happy with this amp. The mid signal is clear and gets plenty loud if I need it to. ... show more

  • Worked for 1 hour. No warranty support from Polk
I purchased this brand new. It worked well for one hour and then quit. Local car stereo shop confirmed that all connections were correct and that amp had gone bad. Seller Northern Marine said it could not be warrantied through them as it was more than 30 days since purchase. Polk refused a warranty claim because i did not buy from an authorized dealer. I'm not sure how/why polk expects me to research who is selling their product but they clearly don't stand behind their product. I now have a $300+ door stop. Amazon and Northern Marine have not yet provided any assistance. I will update this review if they do. Clear product lesson. Stay away from this product or potentially buying even a new amp from Amazon. If you do, likely worth investigating if they are an authorized seller or buying directly from amazon as the seller, not just the distributor. Update. Filed a claim with Amazon under their A-to-z guarantee that protects purchases from 3rd party sellers and they refunded my purchase price. Thanks Amazon. ... show more
