    • A very nice center channel speaker!!
My experience is that Polk makes an excellent inexpensive speaker line based on the 1970s Monitor series. The CS-1 Series 2 speaker is really nice. Actually, the CS-1 Series 2 speaker uses the same speakers as my 2 front Monitor 40s. The speaker configuation and speaker types are the same only, in a different box. The Polk center speaker's sound; highs, mid, and lows mimic my 5.1 fronts (Polk Monitor 40s). The Polk center speaker replaced a Jamo c400cen center speaker and the overall performance of the system, using only the Polk center speaker, in my opinion improved. Because the highs produced by the Polk speaker seem a little muted I wired the Jamo center speaker in series with the Polk center speaker (I did this only because I had the extra center speaker). It gives the center channel a 'bigger, crisper' sound so I backed down the dbs to match the volume of the fronts. The reason for replacing the Jamo center is because, by itself, the sound produced by the Jamo just did not fit with the Polk system I developed. The Polk CS-1 Series 2 speaker is bigger than the Jamo center but not by much. The Jamo may weigh more than the Polk center. the Jamo delivers a higher brighter pallet of sound while the Polk center speaker leans into the mid range pallet. Put them toghether and you have an amazing sound. However, you don't have to hook up extra speakers to realize that the Polk CS-1 Series 2 speaker can easily hold its' own with any good speaker system in the 100w to 150w range. I've been doing some upgrades to our 15x18 2-story living room where we have an 86" tv and simple low-power 5.1 surround sound setup. Our Sony 5.2 receiver puts out 90watts per channel in 5 channel mode so I wasn't looking for massive power handling needs... so I paired this CS1 with Signature S10's (for L/R mains) and have in wall MC65's. High-pass crossover set around 130Hz and all these speakers appear well balanced with each other. I also have a 12" 500w powered sub set to 160Hz so might actually play around with raising the high-pass to 140-150Hz and see how that sounds at higher volume. The Sony at max volume drives this CS1 without any distortion, just clean clear audio. I personally recommend this center channel if you have the room/configuration for it to sit under your screen and your power requirements are on the lower side (I believe max recommended power is 125w). ... show more

We had been using our sound system without a center speaker ever since we got a new one. It was really hard to understand the conversations. It is SO nice to be able to tell what people are saying now. My only problem with it is that it is way bigger than the measurement I thought it gave and does not fit at all in the space I had for it so now it is standing up on another speaker. At least it makes a nice perch for the cats to see the fishtank now too, I guess. ... show more

Bought the cs 10 center channel at the end of jan2020 and now its been two weeks and this center channel is very well built...i will say its DEFFINTLY can be used to anchor a boat in a storm if that was your only and last choise for one...but yes its been threw all the tests that i can think of..i have a sony avr with well over 125 wats per channel the the specs and ratings call for on the polk center channel it sounds great no distortion or any bad things to say about it....well i do gotta say this thow...i have it mounted above a flatscreen and angled somewhat downward and i anchored it securely becace one slip toward taken a noise dive towards tv bellow and anything else thats it has in its path wont be there for long..i cant stress enough on the weight aswell as it being a solid built piece of hardware...i would buy this again for 120 bucks...thanks polk and amazon... ... show more

Center speaker for Polk surround system I assembled. I live in a small place but love full, clean and rich sounds. This is larger than many center channel speakers, check your set up requirements. The speakers handles dialogue and music with ease; excellent bass output and crisp high end. Paired with Polk TSi200 front L/R and TSi100 back surrounds. Sounds great with out a subwoofer but I got one a few days later. As long as you have the space to accommodate, this is a very fine, solid and well executed speaker. I am delighted. ... show more
