I am in my mid 40s with naturally black hair. I have silvers showing at the top of my head so it’s noticeable against the black. Like a landing strip :P For the past 10 years I have been using drugstore permanent hair dyes, Madison reed, and esalon products. All of these are messy to work with, time consuming, and left over products that cannot be reused. I even tried another brand of dye shampoo. My previous hair stylist noticed that my hair looked “dead” or “frizzy” from the permanent hair dyes. This product is much cleaner and easier to work with. Much less time consuming and you get to control how much goes on. Pleasant fragrance. Does not stain my skin as much as the other products. My first time using this, I made the mistake to use my regular shampoo after rinsing the dye shampoo off and I only allowed ten minutes per the bottle. My second attempt, I left the dye shampoo in for 20 minutes and lathered more. The results were amazing and I have not used the shampoo again for a month. I am happy with this product. I shared with a girlfriend of mine about this product and she started using this and she is also impressed with no color bleeding or transfer. My bath towel and pillowcase remains clean. The shower does not have staining at all! The price point is worth it to me. I have not noticed any "frizzy" or "dead" hair since i started using this. The photo of the glove i share is after i finished applying the dye shampoo, no stain! I have washed my hair 5 times since my first application and there is no dye bleeding or the color has not washed out. I am happy with this product :)

Used for the first time today, as directed. I did not shampoo my hair after rinsing, just used conditioner. I also washed my hair two days prior so it was not freshly washed. Color is black and matches with my current color - covered gray's perfectly. I may adjust my review after the first wash or a few washes but I am thoroughly please with the ease of use and result. The scent was not offensive or too strong. For the ease of use and what I paid for this product I consider it to be a great value and addition to my haircare routine.

I really wanted this to work and for me to love it. This product came having already leaked a lot of the color out into the box. Be warned, they aren't kidding in the directions, this WILL destroy your shower... I never had this issue with regular box dyes staining my shower so powerfully. I've given it a fair shot, followed all directions, but it didn't work. I've tried it twice now, and it simply isn't worth it. Wish I could say it was!

If I could rate 10 stars I would!! This is a LIFE saver!! My natural hair is blonde and I’m color into black for many years. Because my hair grow super fast and a big color contrast, makes me do my hair color every 10 days. And this shampoo is literally made my life so much easier. Just a quick 10 minutes and you’re done. And it’s really does amazing job, the color is exactly the same if I’d do regular dye. I’m really happy about this product!! I’d recommend to anyone.

I would give a five staring I was cautioned that the darker products would stain finger nails, also that the darker colors would also stain light colored towels, and counter tops, also the tub or sink used to wash it out. With that said, I loved how the product colored my Grey out growth! A consideration note, my hair is dark brown and I ordered the black because the picture of the dark brown I believe would give my hair needs a line of color demarcation. So for those that are not very dark brown use the black or get their dark brown and black to (bridge the gap) That's it. I really love this product my hair came out great and I was able to easily with a Mr. Clean sponge remove all spots that were left on my sink and tub. GREAT PRODUCT!

July 14, 2025 - 9:10PM So…I’ve been putting this off for a very very long time…I’m 54 this month and hated the fact that I was getting white hair/patches growing in my beard and mustache. I use/uses another product…it’s not dye, it’s a brush on mascara product which also works great! BUT! OMG! I just got this today and decided okay let’s do this. I followed the easy instructions and waited 10-15 minutes before showering. When I got out of the shower and looked in the mirror I was flipping amazed!!! It was black!!! So, yes it works and I love it, but next time I will have to go to a darker brown. Although I like it black (which it’s always been), this is jet black! Either way it’s an amazing product and I will update this post again.

The media could not be loaded. I’m gonna wash that gray right out of my hair!🎶 I know that’s a commercial from a long time ago and from a different product, but I am very pleased with this hair dye shampoo. I thought it was a little expensive for a bottle of hair dye. However, I think the value for the money now is OK because there’s plenty left in the bottle , so I will be able to use it twice. The product is very effective because all of my gray is covered. The recommended time is 10 minutes, but I left the hair dye in for 30 minutes. All it took was a rinsing afterwards and done. The bottle comes with a nice cap so that the product doesn’t leak while not in use. My 4C hair became very curly, soft, and even began to bounce while putting in the product. The color is natural in my opinion. I am loving the black hair dye. I think they have a permanent customer in me.

This product didn't work for me. I developed a rash and swelling after doing a skin test around my perimeter. I had an allergic reaction. There are chemicals in this! I had to get medicine to stop the allergic reaction. It's a no for me!
