  • Excellent Versatile E-Book Reader
Excellent not overly complicated e-reader. If you're experienced with digital devices the learning curve is not too long. The display is excellent, sharp, and clear. Responds easily to touch inputs, and also has a good range of adjustments for brightness, font size, and other settings. The battery capacity is awesome. Have used the device for a month without recharging. I do not care for buying books directly from an e-reader. For this reader it is simple to connect the device with a USB cord to a PC. The reader detects the PC, and you select the connect option when prompted by the reader. Find the reader in "File Explorer" on Windows and load the book file into folder "English", or other choice of language folder displayed. I do read a few books in Spanish. Conveniently, press or tap on a word, a menu bar pops up with one selection being a dictionary. The dictionary is Spanish to English since the book is in the English folder. I assume that works with other languages. Amazing. I recommend the Versa Pro if you're looking for a straight forward E-book reader. ... show more

  • Another great reader from PB!
This is my 3rd Pocketbook. I was actually entertaining a thought about buying colored version of reader for a while and thought about another PB version but read reviews that unless you read colored graphic novels/manga there is no point in colored reader. I like the size a lot. Was looking specifically for 6'' display - easy to hold in one hand it's light but big enough to read comfortably. Basically it's a size of pocketbook book :) You can fit it in your small hand back easily. Big bonus for me is an ability to turn pages both with touch screen and buttons. Can't say which way I use more but buttons definitely used quite often. Storage is quite big. I have transferred all my e-library from prior reader and still not using even 1/3 of it. You can upload books either via email (reader sets specific email account when it first switched on), through usb link or internet connection. I think this version also have cloud backup but my prior reader didn't have that so I can't tell if you can successfully set it up from it. I mostly read in epub or fb2 formats but reader also understands other formats and have quite a list of what it can read. I think mobi ones takes a little more time to get opened so I prefer other formats to it. Overall I am very satisfied. Have been using it for 3 months at the moment and have no complaints. Reason of switching from Pocketbook Touch HD3 was that after 5 years battery was not holding as long as it used to and only last a week without charging. ... show more

  • good e-book
I’ve been using this e-reader for a while now. It works as expected and is convenient for daily reading. The screen is comfortable for the eyes, and the device is lightweight, so it’s easy to hold for longer periods. Setup was straightforward, and navigation through menus is simple. Overall, it does its job well and matches the description. ... show more

  • Handy and durable reading companion
I've had my Pocketbook Verse Pro for a year now and it's done a lot to help me get back into reading. I love the less eye-strain-y eink screen and the fact that it forces you to just focus on books. Operationally, the Pocketbook reader app is okay, but highlighting can be kind of a pain, and screen sensitivity is a bit iffy around the edges (solved this by getting koreader which has a wonderful customizable highlight function). The mini games are also fun if you need a reading break. Front light is clear and the physical buttons are great even after lots of use. The battery life is incredible and the tablet is pretty durable (I've dropped it from a moderate height a few times but I also got it a clear case- no issues with screen or performance after). Can't say much for the ebook store (selection not that broad) but I usually just import the ones I already have from outside stores. ... show more

  • Fragile, and/or non-existent warranty Fragile, and/or non-existent warranty
I don't generally write bad reviews. I'm not sure I've ever given a one star review before, but my experience with Pocketbook has been terrible. I bought the Verse Pro on 11/21/2024. I mostly use e-readers when traveling, or if I'm going to be out in the sun, so it never left my house until I took a trip in February. While on that trip, I was reading in a pool and dipped the e-reader under the surface to see how clear the text was underwater. As soon as it was underwater, air bubbles started escaping from the device, so I immediately lifted it out of the water. However, within minutes the screen was corrupted and the device became unresponsive. When I got back from my trip, I contacted Pocketbook support through their website using their "Write" link. I waited for a response for about a week, and having received nothing I then emailed the address listed on their site. They responded to my email pretty quickly, and had me ship the device (at my cost) to what appears to be a private residence in Lawrenceville, Georgia. I never received any status updates. I asked a few times over the course of about a month, and finally (about two months after I initially contacted support, and a month after they received my device) they respond that the device has "mechanical damage" and is not covered by warranty. I responded back that the "mechanical damage" is that it got wet, which I had noted in my original ticket. They replied back with what looks like a canned response, which very thoroughly describes the physical layers of how the device is built, and how internal damage to a glass pane can cause problems with the display. It even had a nice little graphic. My impression is that they deny warranty claims based on "mechanical damage" frequently enough that they have this canned response ready to go. There was no sign of physical damage when I sent it to them. When I traveled with it, I carried it in my backpack in a sleeve, back to back alongside my tablet. It never left my possession so I know it was never tossed around or dropped or subject to any abuse, and my tablet was in the same place and is perfectly fine. The extent of it's use is that it never left my house until this trip, it traveled in a protected sleeve in a backpack that never left my possession on a plane, then in a rental car, and then into an airbnb, where I got it wet the very next day and it broke. I emailed support again telling them of the light use, and they still refuse to honor the warranty. The only possibilities I can see are: 1. The device was damaged when I got it 2. The device is so fragile that even though it was only subjected to light use it broke anyway. 3. The device was damaged in shipping 4. The device was damaged in their possession 5. There is no "mechanical damage", and they're denying my warranty claim for no reason. Regardless, Pocketbook is refusing to do anything about it, so I will not be purchasing any of their products ever again, and would recommend others to avoid them as well. ... show more

  • Would be a good device if it worked consistently.
Firstly, it interacts well with Calibre, and all that implies. I don't have to deal with a constant stream of advertising which is the most important thing I need in an ereader. Second, the size is nice to be held with a single hand and is light enough that the physical buttons are easily manipulated. This is the second most important thing I need in an ereader. Third, this thing claims IPX8 resilience which might be true, but I doubt it. It's generally fine in the bath, but sometimes the touch screen behaves erratically, highlighting words, opening menus, changing fonts, and otherwise exhibiting evidence of demonic possession. It will also freeze up, though I'm able to reset the device to restart it. In general, the touch screen issues are extraordinarily frustrating. It will go weeks without presenting issues, and other times it makes the device unusable. I have tried factory resets, recalibrating the screen, letting the battery drain all the way before charging, all to no avail. In addition to the aforementioned problems, the screen will evince dead zones that spontaneously become properly responsive. Unfortunately, I can't get a new one from Amazon as the first verse pro I ordered arrived with a shattered screen which they did replace, but it seems they've now washed their hands of it. I like that the device isn't fixated on selling me things. Like most ereaders, you cannot remove the store from the homepage, but at least it doesn't nag at me to turn on wifi access so it can beg for more money. (EDIT: I have since discovered you can, in fact, remove the store from the homepage. I like this feature.) Indeed, I think this would be an excellent device, if it worked. ... show more

  • No need for that fancy model
I recently upgraded from my aging Kobo H2O to the Verse Pro, and I couldn't be happier with the decision. The responsiveness is impressive, with seamless page-turning and no lag—something my old device struggled with. For my needs, which are primarily reading e-books, the Verse Pro is perfect. I appreciate its simplicity and focus on providing an excellent reading experience without the unnecessary extra features found on newer devices. I prefer using my other gadgets for that stuff. I have my own e-book files, and the Verse Pro handles them wonderfully. However, it's important to note that purchasing books directly from the device isn't available in many regions, so be sure to check if this applies to you before buying. **Update as of 8/6/25 you can set a device pin code.** One feature I miss from my Kobo is the ability to lock the device with a PIN for added security. Overall, I highly recommend the Verse Pro for anyone looking for a reliable and responsive e-reader dedicated to reading. ... show more

  • The BEST E-reader
Love this little e-reader. Didn’t break the bank and it’s super easy to add books, magazines, etc no matter which route you take! I recommend a case cuz I almost dropped it a few times without it (small hands and clumsy) but it feels durable. I had a nook, kindle, and a Kobo before and this one is just the absolute best! No ads or proprietary software, unless your “free” e-pub comes with ads…. Very giftable!!!! ... show more
