  • Absolutely fantastic!
Size: PocketBook Verse E-Reader
I've been using the pocketbook for about a week and it has far exceeded my expectations. The last ereader I had was a nook of some sort around the year 2012. The PocketBook is easy to read, has a backlight, and is adjustable. I can adjust the size of the font, read with the lights off, and orient the screen to the position i'm laying in. All of this is without advertisements (eat it kindle). The device came with quite a few different books preloaded in English as well as other European languages. The device appears to take almost any file type, however, I have only used .epub so far and they work exceptionally well. The battery life is great so far, I've read roughly 600 pages so far and have over half of a charge remaining after loading my books (in my mind that's not a full charge) The storage is great, and is easily expandable via micro sd. The screen is very responsive, I have tended to use the buttons, but the device is adjustable to reload the pages every 1, 5, or 10 pages. This results in every 5 pages (default) flashing black, but I feel like it makes the device load less frequently resulting in snappier response. In other words, it's compatible with everything easy to use, and in my limited experience the absolute best ereader i've laid my hands on. I also got the "origami cover" it puts it to sleep when the cover is closed and appears to protect it effectively (my solitary complaint is that it feels fragile without the cover). It feels like the cover is worth $20 just to protect the screen. TBH this is the happiest i've been with a purchase in a long time. I feel like they have provided exactly what is advertised, and it executes it's job exceedingly well. ... show more

  • Insane Storage Space, Great Battery
Size: PocketBook Verse E-Reader
I absolutely LOVE this little e-reader! It's a sturdy little thing and feels solid but comfortably light in my hand. The color is a soft pastel blue and has a lined texture to it. The buttons are clicky and I appreciate that you can edit their functions. I've gotten about a month of use out of it now and clocked several hours a day. Only had to charge it once and that's because i like to use the backlight. (Under less heavy use i could see this battery lasting months) There's a programmable light schedule as well as warmth scale for a set and forget experience. I really like the sd card slot for up to 128gb of extra storage. I have over 350 books right now and barely scratched that amount of space! I could have a huge personal library with me at any time which is wild! One important detail is that the pocketbook store is European. As an American, I haven't tried to purchase anything yet. I didnt choose this device for its store though, but for the storage space. I generally get books from other online retailers. You can read your DRM books on this device through Adobe Editions verification, so I dont have a need for an on-board store. And it has a "send to pocketbook" feature like sending to a kindle device for everything else. Or you could use a manager program on a desktop. Theres plenty of versatility! You should be prepared to set this device up a little. Its not hard but does take time to get your library all settled and loaded up. The screen is very sharp/clear and easy to read even at tiny font sizes. I wouldn't recommend trying to read comics with this screen size however just due to the need to pinch-zoom each panel. That's personal preference though, and could be doable. The backlight is nice and balanced and does get plenty bright. Ive never needed to have it over 1/3 power. Syncing to the cloud can be kind of glitchy at a certain hour so I do wonder if there's daily maintenance on that. But its not a huge deal. And the app that let's you pick up where you left off while away from your device is so handy. ALSO you can change your idle/off screen. Just upload the picture you want and set it from your gallery. This review is a little all over the place so I may come edit it and update with new thoughts in a few months. Overall, I'm very happy with my Pocketbook and I'm so glad it still offered sd card storage. I hope to be able to use it for a long long time! ... show more

  • I like it and is good value for the price
Size: PocketBook Verse E-Reader
OK, so I like this reader, but one thing does hold me back. For comparison I do have a Kindle gen 10 and a Kobo Clara. What I like about the Pocketbook is the cloud they provide. One thing I don't like is that when scrolling thru your books it is slow - comparable to the Kindle. Once you're reading all is good and the light works great, just the scrolling part. In comparison the Kobo is much faster then both of them, but no cloud. ... show more

  • Muy buen producto
Size: PocketBook Verse E-Reader
... show more

  • Too many odd things...
Size: PocketBook Verse E-Reader
I bought the Verse because of the wide support it had for file formats - I was particularly interested in its ePub support. It supports ePubs just fine, but does not give percent read for them while reading like my Kobo does (which makes it difficult to use with GoodReads for reading tracking). I found no way to display a percentage in the settings - either from the Settings menu or from the reading specific settings (the ones you access while inside the eBook). I tested several different ePub files (both "professional" and "amateur/public domain" types of ePubs) on both the Verse and the Kobo, and the Kobo was always consistent with how it gave progress information. I read that the Verse was getting Libby support via a firmware update (the Verse Pro already has it in its latest update). As of 4/28/26 the Verse does not have Libby support - tech support says it will be another 2-3 months before it is available. The automated lighting settings are useless - by default the ereader turns the light off in the wee hours of the morning, so if you read anytime between 11PM and 8AM, you can't read the screen with the lighting set to auto. You can customize the lighting settings, but in my opinion, the auto feature should be useful without having to tweak it. The Verse would randomly stop displaying the cover pictures for my ePubs. I had to open each ePub every time it happened for the covers to be displayed again. I did look briefly at their bookstore. It is not designed with the USA in mind. All prices are set to Euros. I saw on the web that you can contact support to get yourself set to a USA friendly version of the store, but I think that is pushing things a bit - I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get a USA friendly store on a model made for the USA. The Verse would randomly do some quirky things while I was reading my ePubs. Sometimes it would display a page number in the middle of the screen on the right hand side, and sometimes it wouldn't. This was not even consistent within the same ePub - sometimes it would display and other times it wouldn't. Also, if you are reading something that uses superscripts or subscripts (for example, verse numbers in a bible), the text sometimes runs together. I tested the same ePub files on the Verse and my Kobo, and the Kobo never once had any of these problems. Another odd thing - the first time I used it and put it to sleep, the battery drained to 15% in 2 days. After I recharged it, the battery drain seemed to be like you would expect. This did not instill my confidence in the device. Overall, I was very disappointed in the Verse and ended up returning it. It was overall just too wonky for me to have confidence in it. PS - If you're wanting to use ePubs, get a Kobo ... show more
