  • Well designed card and a nice upgrade from my RTX 3080 in every way.
This is a stock speeds, 3 fan air cooled RTX 5080 GPU. It uses 3 expansion slot attachment method and unlike with many other cards, the cooler is secured to the IO shield via 3 screws, which makes the whole assembly more solid and less likely to suffer from card droop. I still used a card support brace in my build, but this particular card seems to need it less than most other cards do. The 3 cooling fans run quieter than the ones on my RTX 3080 and the whole card runs noticeably cooler, which was a nice bonus. The card has been running completely stable for me and the performance has been rather impressive. I've been playing Doom: The Dark Ages at 3440x1440 with everything maxed out, DLSS 4 set to "Quality" and getting well over 100 fps. With the DLSS 4 set to TDAA (no upscaling happening), the game still runs at well over 60 fps. However, I really don't notice any image quality difference and thus, just keep it at "Quality". Overall, this card runs Doom: The Dark Ages as well as my RTX 3080 ran Doom Eternal. So I'm very happy. Yeah, having to pay 140% MSRP for it sucked, but it is what it is. I'm reviewing a product - not the seller or market conditions. Thus, I'm giving it 5 stars. Edit: Also, my card definitely doesn't have any "coil wine". In fact, the card is very quiet all around - probably the quietest upper mid-range card I've had since the fanless days back in the late 90s. I also have to disagree with the other reviewer when it comes to build quality compared to an eVGA RTX 3080, which was also the card that this PNY replaced. More precisely, I had a slightly overclocked, 3 fan model. To me, this PNY has better build quality and a more solid feel. The eVGA sagged like crazy from the start for me. This PNY has zero initial sag. Probably because the cooler is attached to the I/O plate, in addition to a more solid base plate. Overall, the card feels nice and heavy duty to me. You just have to keep in mind that I always get the cards that are at or close enough to base specs - not the super decked out, turbo overclocked, fancy cooler expensive models. So yeah, as a base model card, I think that this one is very good. ... show more

  • Potential hearing damage? Fans sound like jet engines!
When installed, the card's fans are quiet for "basic" operations - email, watching movies and basic activities excluding games. When a game with somewhat high graphics needs was started, within a few seconds the fans began roaring like jet engines. The noise drowned out the game audio. While the fan noise itself might not be enough to cause hearing damage, I did not increase game audio as it might be so loud to overcome the fans that the volume might lead to hearing damage. Do not know if the unit is defective or if it is a defective design. Returned the GPU: it is not good for a computer setting by the user! ... show more

  • Very powerful gpu, came in pristine condition
This card runs perfectly for me, with my Ryzen 7, it packs a serious punch in 2026, I saw other reviews showing the bad quality of the package, it is ups and takes longer routes but I got lucky nothing happened, be sure to buy the protections if your concerned, the fans are effectively quiet and I have had no issues running it, it is bit hard to push it into the pci slot, took some time to adjust it in my am5 motherboard, it looks awesome with my black themed build, additionally this is one of the cheaper options. ... show more

  • This thing is a certified 5080
Ok, so, straight up? There's a reason why this is one of the cheaper ones on the market right now. Let's talk about that for a sec. First off? My card got here considerably faster than the tracking ever let me know and the package arrived in really great shape, couldn't be more pleased with that. And what's more? It's a genuine 5080. No scams or nightmare situations going on with this listing yet. So, what's the reason why you would pay under 1400 before tax? PNY might say something about "stealth mode" on the box but what they don't tell you about is the coil whine. It can get pretty intense, at least in benchmarks. My right ear was going deaf during time spy, but I WAS getting 175-200fps. But then once I started some actual gameplay, it went well enough unnoticed. So let's talk about gameplay. On the half life 2 RTX demo, my 12 gig 3080 used to only be able to pull like 55fps. The PNY 5080 was coming in at 110 at the least, with 120-130 most of the time. The card's a monster. I fear no man? But this thing scares me. One more thing. It made squeaking noises when I pinched the shroud between my fingers. Like really loud squeaking. Holding it next to my EVGA 3080, it was clear which card had the more solid build quality and it wasn't the PNY. Maybe that's an unfair comparison, EVGA being the goat, but still, the PNY didn't have to squeak that loud when I pinched it, frankly. Anyway, consider the base clock, which I'm thinking doesn't really matter right now cause it's still a 5080. And if you're worried about this thing lasting, all I can say is if you're anything like me and you tend to upgrade every 3 years or so, I definitely think this one will last for at least that (inshallah). ... show more
