  • Well designed card and a nice upgrade from my RTX 3080 in every way.
This is a stock speeds, 3 fan air cooled RTX 5080 GPU. It uses 3 expansion slot attachment method and unlike with many other cards, the cooler is secured to the IO shield via 3 screws, which makes the whole assembly more solid and less likely to suffer from card droop. I still used a card support brace in my build, but this particular card seems to need it less than most other cards do. The 3 cooling fans run quieter than the ones on my RTX 3080 and the whole card runs noticeably cooler, which was a nice bonus. The card has been running completely stable for me and the performance has been rather impressive. I've been playing Doom: The Dark Ages at 3440x1440 with everything maxed out, DLSS 4 set to "Quality" and getting well over 100 fps. With the DLSS 4 set to TDAA (no upscaling happening), the game still runs at well over 60 fps. However, I really don't notice any image quality difference and thus, just keep it at "Quality". Overall, this card runs Doom: The Dark Ages as well as my RTX 3080 ran Doom Eternal. So I'm very happy. Yeah, having to pay 140% MSRP for it sucked, but it is what it is. I'm reviewing a product - not the seller or market conditions. Thus, I'm giving it 5 stars. Edit: Also, my card definitely doesn't have any "coil wine". In fact, the card is very quiet all around - probably the quietest upper mid-range card I've had since the fanless days back in the late 90s. I also have to disagree with the other reviewer when it comes to build quality compared to an eVGA RTX 3080, which was also the card that this PNY replaced. More precisely, I had a slightly overclocked, 3 fan model. To me, this PNY has better build quality and a more solid feel. The eVGA sagged like crazy from the start for me. This PNY has zero initial sag. Probably because the cooler is attached to the I/O plate, in addition to a more solid base plate. Overall, the card feels nice and heavy duty to me. You just have to keep in mind that I always get the cards that are at or close enough to base specs - not the super decked out, turbo overclocked, fancy cooler expensive models. So yeah, as a base model card, I think that this one is very good. ... show more

  • Don’t buy this.
My GPU was plagued with the whine noise. I wouldn’t buy from PNY ever again.

  • Another home run for PNY
Another win by PNY. This is my second GPU I’ve bought from them. Works great.Top tier graphics almost 0 noise. Multiple fans for cooling. The card itself is just great quality. Everyone complains about the price but if you’re looking at this size of GPUs you should already expect to shell out the big bucks. And the RGB and card itself just looks great. ... show more

  • Amazing graphics with poor hardware compatibility issues
I would give this graphics card a 5 out of 5, but I can't. The way it was rolled out, with defective systems, keeps me from doing so. It performs amazingly in gaming and video. However, when installed, my system began to have windows startup errors. I eventually found that when I switched my PCIe 5 slot from auto to PCIe 4 manual in the BIOS, the startup issues stopped. This was on a Z790 motherboard that is only 2 years old. Nvidia should have tested better than this, as this is not exclusive to my experience. Now, I had trouble finding the startup culprit because every other windows startup would go to a black screen. This continued intermittently until I decided to try a displayport cable with an HDMI converter, instead of using an HDMI cable. Nvidia's support failed to even suggest either of these fixes. They just fumbled with making me clean install different driver sets and hot fixes. God forbid that they accept that they released a partially faulty piece of hardware that almost everyone is having problems with. In conclusion, the PNY RTX 5080 performs at astounding levels. I absolutely love it. On the other hand, Nvidia rolled out their current series 2nd best consumer level graphics card with all sorts of extreme compatibility issues and didn't seem to have any idea what the issues were, even many months after day one release. Nvidia needs to start doing better than this. ... show more

  • Too expensive, but it does what I wanted from it, so full marks.
My niece spec'd out a new system because she was having difficulty playing AAA games on ultra settings, and she's big on visuals. Anyway, she's quite happy with the performance of this card. I believe the game she was having trouble with was Monster Hunter Wilds. The RTX 5080 chewed right through it on ultra high settings. So mission accomplished. The entire build cost about $4k. And yes...half of that was this card. Personally, I would not have made the move just for one game (and games going forward). But I supposed if you're putting together a build with all the rest of the components being top tier (or near enough), you might as well bite the GFX bullet. I doubt things will change on the price front anytime soon. ... show more

  • Overpriced
0 stars. Way overpriced. Would probably be fine if it sold for MSRP. Or even MSRP with a SMALL markup for being a partner product.
