Top Amazon Reviews

  • Big spend, big GPU, big joy.

Tech wise nothing to write up here, its absurdly overpowered for the time which is great and you get what you pay for. Cyberpunk on all ultra and max ray tracing1440p with minimal overclocking 85-90 average frames. Things the box and summary don't tell you. Its gigantic, hogs a lot of space in a case. It does include a card brace but you need to take care positioning the support peg or you could easily jab it straight into a fan port. You do need that silly velocity xlr8 software to change the lighting and there isn't much goin on there, rainbows, breathing or static etc. You will need a card brace and if your case doesn't have room for the included brace dont buy this without one its a very large card. Multimonitor is fine, thing can run 4k movies and play cyberpunk at the same time no issues. The Amazon review wants me to mention value for money, thickness and warmth. Value for money: if you can afford it and want it, its the card for you. If you'd struggle to get by if you got one don't get it then. Easy. Far as opinions and clock speeds of comparison for value for money against a 3080 you can nitpick all day 3090 has 24gb and costs a ton and if that's what will make you happy in your gaming pc hobby dont look back its rad, but no its not cheap and penny for power especially with markup here its a rough call for a bargain shopper. Again though to squash the value for money thing, this is a top of the line unit, it is not a budget item its the top. Thickness? Yes? I don't know what amazon wants here its not a ribeye. Its a chunky gpu, again buy a brace. Warmth? Far as temperature its fine, fans work and base is fine. You certainly get a warm feeling seeing it in your case. Tl:dr This isn't cheap. It is powerful. If you dont have a budget to worry about easy get. If you do have a budget to adhere to, I don't have any sudden revelations that a 3090 is a regretful purchase and I'd wished I'd gotten a 3080 for better value... I dont. This PNY 3090 XLR8 is exactly what I wanted, giving me the exact performance I expected and I recommend it to those who want it and can afford it. ... show more

  • Product works as expected
Style: Retail Packaging
It is a 3090, and it arrived in excellent condition with no visible wear or damage. The cooling solution is small for a card of this power, so if you want good thermals it should be undervolted and provided with ample airflow. Performance is good, and the noise profile is acceptable for a product of this price range. Picture shows this product (below) compared with an MSI Ventus 3X OC 3080 12G (top). ... show more

  • Loud but reliable.
Style: Retail Packaging
This thing can be pretty loud and that's the only downside. I have great graphics quality. Make sure to get a support for it because it's a monster. They're also on Amazon and only cost a few bucks. But that will save you a lot of wear and tear on your gfx slot in your motherboard.

  • Works perfectly
Style: Retail Packaging
I bought this card more for machine learning work than for games. That said, the first thing I did was download a number of benchmark programs on Linux to burn it in, and set all the graphics parameters to their max settings. Everything went flawlessly. Nothing could really dent its performance event at my max screen resolution of 3440x1440. I use Windows (which I have on an external SATA SSD) only for music production (as a DAW), but I booted into Windows and downloaded steam to try some free high resolution games. Again, there was nothing it couldn't do. Then I used it for the reason that I purchased it, downloading OpenAI's gpt-2 xl transformer model and setting it up to work on my system. Suffice it to say that this places incredible demands on the card. Again, flawless performance. On my screen is a readout of the card's fan speed and temperature. Even when the fans were spinning quite fast it was almost silent. It is a very thick card and requires a plexiglas brace. Also, I held off for months because I didn't want to pay crazy prices, and finally ended up paying about 20% over list, which is why I only gave 3 stars for value. That's NVidia's fault for releasing the RTX series in October of 2020 and then forcing users to wait 5 months (and still waiting) for supply. Overall though, I expect this will meet my needs for years. ... show more

  • It's good for how I use it, overpriced if it's over $1800
Style: Retail Packaging
I got this at $1799 a month ago for that price I got what I wanted I guess, it's not much of an overclocker (at least mine isn't it likes to crash at anything above a +40 clock) as I had heard and expected the gddr6x on the back of the card gets extremely hot, personally in using a fan to cool the backplate as much as I can, and in a 4c room it hits about 54c with the air cooler and a 80% fan. it's not necessary but I prefer to dissipate more of that heat if I can. I want to get an EKwaterblock for it, and try cooling it more but I'm sure I won't get to much more from mine. But overall it's still a great product, especially if you need more memory than the 3080 offers. I could have made it with the 16 gb on amd's cards but I wanted the headroom for the future. And the rtx features are fun ... show more

  • Weird, But Good!
I only paid $900 for this GPU, which at the time was a steal. It took a little while to ship and once it arrived it came in a nondescript box with not owners manual, warranty info, or fancy packaging. Just a brown box, closed cell foam, and a anti static bag. I was skeptical about the product considering the price and packaging. But turns out it is actually a new PNY 3090 and nothing about the GPU itself appears off. It performs as it should and (for me) was a great purchase. Maybe not the best bang for your buck, but if it’s on sale I would definitely recommend grabbing one. ... show more
