This is my travel rod, I got the bare model so I can spool with personal equipment. This combo is pretty fun, it’s compact, it’s light and I’d hate to say it but the biggest drawback on it is it’s frame. The whole kit has some type of metal, on the rod it shows it is not to be used near BIG powerlines or near lightning. Other then that I have bullied bass, trout, and catfish on this rod and reel completely spooled with 6 pound mono. No issues with gears grinding, nothing breaking, no issues casting light lures. I predominantly use this for shallow streams and man made lakes and it doesn’t break much of a sweat. I am not a pro fisherman but I learned fishing with my Dad and I've caught plenty. As a rod and reel I this is a nice rod, it's got a good feel in the hand, it's closer to an ultra light but not quite ultra, like micro sub 6 foot pole with 1oz weight casting limit The reason I chose it is obviously the telescoping abity and this is absolutely an amazing marvel of technology, I feel blessed to have it really. It's simple, seems like it would last if taken care of and cleaned, and putting it together and back was quick and kinda mesmerizing. It gets so small it's like a wand, a foot long stick, and the reel of course, which I kept both of their boxes. If their is a caveat, maybe the rings seem susceptible to damage if the rod sack is not kept safe or in the box. ... show more

Rod is light but has decent balance reel is smooth was slightly disappointed that it wasn’t prestrung but that’s just my excitement wanting to use quickly. Overall I think it’s a decent deal and can’t wait to take it out on the water

Bought two of these rods on sale for under $25 each! The packaging and delivery service was flawless! This product is cheap, durable, lightweight, and extremely portable. My son has reeled in carp, trout, and bass in the 3-6 pound range with this. THIS IS A MUST HAVE!!!

My husband and his friends were planning a trip to Mexico to ride the BDR trails on their motorcycles. He wanted a collapsable pole that would fit in his bags but didn't want to spend the money. I saw this, the price, and the reviews, and decided to buy it for him. I am so glad I did. He was able to fish on the shores and found out on the trip one of his friends bought the same pole. My sons and I travel and they like to do a little fishing as we see new places. We have looked at other collapsible rods (and even purchased one which proved a disaster) but he loves this collapsible rod. One area he is cautious of is the joints of the rods where they extend out. These can be problematic. He really likes this rod from that perspective. The spool is another matter. He is not pleased at all with this spool. Something to do with the tension and the lack thereof and it causing ‘bird nests’. He told me that he purchased another spool and has successfully placed a different spool on this rod and it works like a charm. He wishes the company would sell rod and spool separately. But as a bundle, he doesn’t feel the value for the buck. I would not repurchase this product. ... show more

This is a great starter rod. It's going to be something you upgrade though. The tackle, case, and fishing line that come with this are garbage. The rod and reel are perfectly fine. The case pretty much fell apart after a few trips to a local pond. I believe much of it is manufactured with hot glue. The tackle was all extremely light weight and hard to cast. I was however to catch 30+ trout, bass, catfish, and carp before just choosing to upgrade my setups. So big props there. Can't believe it didn't snap. ... show more
