Great rod for traveling! Fits easily in a suitcase when collapsed. Feels like a good sturdy rod when in use. Reel is smooth, bail quit easily flipping automatically after about 250+ casts but that always seems to happen with my gear. Overall: Awesome. I will be purchasing more for friends!

I am not a pro fisherman but I learned fishing with my Dad and I've caught plenty. As a rod and reel I this is a nice rod, it's got a good feel in the hand, it's closer to an ultra light but not quite ultra, like micro sub 6 foot pole with 1oz weight casting limit The reason I chose it is obviously the telescoping abity and this is absolutely an amazing marvel of technology, I feel blessed to have it really. It's simple, seems like it would last if taken care of and cleaned, and putting it together and back was quick and kinda mesmerizing. It gets so small it's like a wand, a foot long stick, and the reel of course, which I kept both of their boxes. If their is a caveat, maybe the rings seem susceptible to damage if the rod sack is not kept safe or in the box. ... show more

This is a great starter rod. It's going to be something you upgrade though. The tackle, case, and fishing line that come with this are garbage. The rod and reel are perfectly fine. The case pretty much fell apart after a few trips to a local pond. I believe much of it is manufactured with hot glue. The tackle was all extremely light weight and hard to cast. I was however to catch 30+ trout, bass, catfish, and carp before just choosing to upgrade my setups. So big props there. Can't believe it didn't snap. ... show more

Honestly the reel is absolutely great and smoother than my more expensive reels. Had my doubts when purchasing but the telescopic rod is great also. Fits in my bag and I can take it with me when I wanna ride out on my dirt bike or supermoto. For the price it’s a great deal but I’m still surprised how good the reel it self is. ... show more

Ordered two 2.1m full kits with carrier bag case for ~US $70 each. We were looking for a telescoping rod with case to travel with so we didn’t have to redo the line every time we took a multi-section rod apart. This is our first Plusinno purchase and it was a good price for what we got. The rod felt good in the hand and the lower section is solid. At first glance, the telescoping sections seemed a little chintzy but after using it, it had great action and works extremely well for squid and lighter fish (perch, trout, sand dabs, etc). We like the smooth action of the reel that came with the kit (Plusinno HA3000) and it casts well. The reel seems to be mostly metal instead of mostly plastic, which I prefer. The only problem we saw with the reel is the screw cap that holds the handle on to the reel can come loose. After a month of use my wife’s handle flew off during a cast and I checked my screw cap and it was also loose (probably due to shock and vibration of casting). I contacted customer support to see if they sold spare parts and they sent us replacement parts with no issue. It’s simple enough to check the screw cap once in a while. I might try to put a little of that blue stuff that increases friction on the threads. We haven’t used the lures that came with the kit since we have our own favorites and the fish react differently in different regions. You can find lower priced options that provide exactly what you paid for. The rod and reel we got with this kit will probably last us a while longer than what we might get with many of the lower priced kits. We’re not professional fishing folk and this kit meets all of what we were looking for. The loose handle would have lowered the rating to 4 stars, but the great customer support pushes it up to 5 stars. ... show more

This rod is a great deal for the money. It collapses into an easily transported short length, but extends into a good length for casting, and it has a wonderful folding handle that even my more expensive rods don't have. I like it!

I am retired and occasionally go fishing. Not so much to catch fish, but to get a little exercise as the doctor recommends, and, to be outside in beautiful Virginia. I thought these would be a great alternative to have in my truck on the occasion I saw a good fishing hole. Because of my disability I can't drive long distances and so I have to stop pretty regularly to keep my knees from locking up. What a way to do that: Fishing for a little while. Well, to these poles and reels. I got them, put one of them together, took it apart, bagged it back up and sent it back. The quality seemed Ok, the truth is in the fishing, but I didn't like the way they extend and retract. Like a two-piece rod, these have 6ish miniature rods you have to pull out, line up and hope you have them snug. Then, when you are done, you have a length of line you have to keep from getting tangled as you struggle to get them loose without breaking the small ends of the rod. Just too much hassle, too much chance for breaking it or tangling line or not getting them set right. The reel seems Ok.. but never tested. Very compact and would be a great product with some engineering adjustments. Like being able to lock the rod sections in place after extending, small grooves/guides to keep the pole section from spinning around and tangling line. Just not for me. I will just carry around my 2-piece ugly stick and a few lures. BTW. the lures (untested) looked Ok. the plastic bait looked pretty cheap.. so don't count on the tackle being great, get your own ... show more

My sons and I travel and they like to do a little fishing as we see new places. We have looked at other collapsible rods (and even purchased one which proved a disaster) but he loves this collapsible rod. One area he is cautious of is the joints of the rods where they extend out. These can be problematic. He really likes this rod from that perspective. The spool is another matter. He is not pleased at all with this spool. Something to do with the tension and the lack thereof and it causing ‘bird nests’. He told me that he purchased another spool and has successfully placed a different spool on this rod and it works like a charm. He wishes the company would sell rod and spool separately. But as a bundle, he doesn’t feel the value for the buck. I would not repurchase this product. ... show more
