After reviewing many of the choices for fireplace screens, we finally decided on the Plow & Hearth and so happy that we did. It arrived in just a few days, was very sturdily packaged and easy to assemble. The screen itself fits our fireplace perfectly (we have an arched opening) and a 'real' fireplace but now use gas logs. We ideally wanted a brass color to 'dress up' the fireplace, but our only option for this brand and size (44" wide x 33" high) was the copper color. The color on the website shows it as a more 'coppery' color but ours is much darker and we like it better than what the photo showed on website. The screen is heavy, very sturdy and will not easily tilt. I expect the screen and metal will get hot when the logs are in use. We are well pleased with the quality and feel it is a good value for the money.

This is a nice fireplace screen and a quick way to add the functionality of doors to a fireplace that doesn't have them. The finish is good enough, but not perfect. There are a couple of places where the grinding on the welds isn't very clean and the doors don't align very well, but other than that it is a nice piece. On my hearth the screen leaned forward a bit which is a function of my fireplace, not the fault of the product. I installed two bolts at the front of the legs which allowed me to adjust the front elevation of the screen; this made the unit very stable when it otherwise would have been a little wobbly. There are two small brackets on the back of the screen which go into the fireplace and support it from behind. These work, except that the bottom tube to which they attach is hollow and will dent a bit if the bolts are tightened enough to keep the supports secure. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. All in all I'm happy with this screen and it's a big upgrade from the folding screen I've been using up until now.

We purchased the 38" wide "small" version for our 1920s city home in Minneapolis... The screen is well made, and it really does look elegant in front of our fireplace. Before purchasing, we considered buying the larger version with the bi-parting door. That version was too wide to fit comfortably on our hearth, and so we got this version. After seeing it, I am glad that we did. The screen is super lightweight and easy to move. With fewer moving parts, the screen is also that much more sturdy. I am confident that this thing will be around for a long time...

I purchased this fireplace screen to keep a curious puppy from pilfering the rocks from my gas fireplace. The item arrived quickly via Prime and was well packaged. This screen is gorgeous and exactly as it appears in the photos. The craftsmanship is excellent; the screen is substantial and solidly constructed. Assembly was quick and easy—just attaching the front and rear legs. I had not taken into account that the small hood at the top of my gas fireplace would prevent the screen from sitting flush against the face of the fireplace.(see photos) Luckily, the rear feet of the screen were the perfect length to allow the screen to get as close as possible. The unit is heavy enough that my dog cannot dislodge it, but still light enough to move easily. Great product—I will definitely recommend and purchase Plow & Hearth products in the future.

Extremely satisfied with this well-made fireplace screen. I was hesitant to order after seeing several bad reviews, but I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Installation was simple. The front legs fit right into the pre-drilled holes, and only requires washer and nuts to be installed and tightened on the back side. The rear legs have one bolt only. Then you insert screws and washers for the handles and you’re done.

I normally don’t take the time to leave reviews. After this experience, I had to take the time to warn others. First let me start by saying that the product is beautiful and nicely made...IF you are lucky enough to receive all of your parts! Upon receiving the large screen I emptied the contents of the box. There was an empty accessories box enclosed and there were small parts strewn throughout the larger box. I gathered those items and realized I was still missing one handle, the screws and washers for that handle and the wrench that was supposed to be enclosed to tighten the bolts. The handle I did receive was slightly damaged, but I’m not that picky, so that wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I found the enclosed instructions and called the customer service number for Plow and Hearth to see about receiving replacement parts for my order. I called and spoke to a representative that told me that I needed to send the item back to Amazon and purchase it directly from their website (even though it was shipped from them through Amazon). They said according to the agreement they have with Amazon, they cannot help Amazon customers. WHAT??? It is YOUR product! The representative went on to tell me that I can return it and buy it directly from their site and if I have any missing parts from that order, they would then be able to help me. This makes absolutely no sense...AND their website charges even MORE for shipping! I said I don’t want to send the entire wrought iron screen back for a handle. I even asked if I could just pay extra to purchase replacement parts for this screen. NOPE! After reading several other reviews (a little late) I noticed I was not the only one. So it seemingly didn’t make any sense to send it back and reorder from a company that has such poor customer service. I really like the screen and decided to see if I could fix the issue without breaking the bank for their mistake. After $8.44 and a trip to Lowes I purchased a set of drawer handles that I thought would fit the bill. They actually worked perfectly. I think they actually look better than the rounded one that the screen came with. If you don’t mind taking a chance to see if you are one of the lucky ones, then I think you will really enjoy this screen. If you are ok with making some adjustments for missing parts even though you paid for a complete item...then this also may work for you. If you think the company should stand behind their product and provide customer service...this IS NOT the product for you. I hope this helps.
