Size:Small The PlexiDor Small Wall Units open from left to right with precision smoothness. Even the smallest puppy or kitten can easily push open the door. The single plexiglass panel does not require a replacement flap. All four sides of the panel are equipped with the same high density, industrial nylon pile weather seal as the larger units and provide the same level of energy efficiency. The spring loaded 4-way lock can be set to IN ONLY, OUT ONLY, IN AND OUT or LOCKED. The small units do not come with a steel security plate. The wall units can be installed into stud, brick, block or cement walls up to 12 inches thick. Each wall unit includes an aluminum tunnel that connects the interior and exterior frame. The tunnel materials ensure a professional fit and finish that provides a quality appearance for your home. The tunnel will not rust, has no sharp edges and is easy to clean. The PlexiDor Small Units are designed for cats weighing up to 24 pounds and dogs weighing up to 9 pounds. This is best for breeds such as Cats, Chihuahuas, Papillions, Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Pomeranians, Japanese Chins and a variety of other small dog and cat breeds. This is quality made unit, but it has a poor design. Very hard to open, which means very hard to train your dog to use this door. I also bought the door closer, and the track for it, which is a poor design. I always felt if someone wanted to break into your home this doggy door was an easy idea. I just feel it is not terribly secure. If this is off of your mudroom or such it is probably a better idea than mine was off of the kitchen. No break-ins, but..... ... show more

    • Nice door, but my cats might be boneheads...

We are very impressed with the quality of this door, having owned two others made by competitors. That being said, our cats are experiencing a pretty steep learning curve in trying to use the thing. This door hinges on the side where our other two swung from the top. It takes quite a bit more oomph to open because of a pretty stiff spring. I think it speaks to the quality and energy efficiency of the product, but our cats, who are very accustomed to using cat doors, are completely bamboozled by this door. After two MONTHS, one cat will use it reluctantly and the other is constantly stuck on one side or the other because he can't seem to figure out how to just charge on through (and believe me, it's not for lack of patience or instruction on our part). After being awakened from a deep sleep last night by the infernal flipping noise he makes when repeatedly pawing at the door (which is in another room) I just can't give this product five stars. If you purchase this door, I hope your pets are not as dim-witted as mine seems to be. Also, be aware that this door is as difficult to install in a wall as the other reviewers say. It took my husband, who is an experienced do-it-yourselfer, the better part of a day and a few choice words. ... show more

    • Great pet door, lousy installation instructions

This door was expensive but the instructions for installing it was very poor. I searched high and low for a small pet door that would fit a 10 inch block wall and this was the only one I found. (Thanks Amazon) The door works great and my kitty learned to use it quickly. I left the plexiglass door open for a few days so I'm sure that helped a lot. The weather stripping and door swinging mechanism is a little tight but, as long as my kitty can work it, I'm satisfied with the door itself. My very experienced handyman worked on installation for a total of 10 hrs. He was very frustrated by the installation and looked online at a couple videos. I wouldn't recommend an ordinary buyer to try installing this yourself unless you're very BRAVE...lol Overall, it works great and looks very neat and inconspicuous in my wall. We installed from kitchen into screened porch and it is a perfect solution for our needs. ... show more

    • Takes A Beating and Keeps Swinging

Love, love, love this door. We've had it several years and our 65-pound Catahoula and 40-pound Aussie mix give this thing hell but it just keeps swinging back like a champ. I swear, the dogs don't even slow down when they sprint through this door. We would go through regular flaps once a year and they'd become warped and lose their heat/cold keeping capability after a month or so. This door does a far better job of insulating against weather than the traditional flap door can. It's also comforting to know I can lock it for extra security, although it's hard to imagine anyone trying to crawl through with a snapping, snarling Catahoula on the other side. Yes, this door is pricy but if it lasts as long as I think it will, then it will be cheaper in the long run than replacing flap doors. ... show more

I love the functionality of this door, it works great. I rated it four stars because the installation was not as easy as decribed. My husband does construction for a living and had to modify the interior of the wall to make this work. The door itself looks nice and it only took a few days before my dog was going through it on her own. We are still training the cat to use the door, she goes up to it but won't push on it. We have to push one open a little for her and then she goes through. I figured it might take her a little longer to get used to it. ... show more

Had this installed under window in laundry room. I shut the door to the room rather than bother with the lock when I want to keep the dogs inside. We have had numerous dog doors prior to this one. The shepherds have started using it, cautiously after a few months. The doors are harder to push open then description said. Also, their is a mirror effect on the outside so the dogs can not see in to see if there is another dog on the other side which can lead to collisions. The chihuahuas are not able to use it. If you have big and small dogs and want something for both, this will not work. ... show more

    • Nice outcome, difficult to install...really!

Nice door. REALLY, REALLY CHALLENGING TO INSTALL! You will need to cut both tops and sides to fit. Tough to do with a hack saw. I used a table saw, but most people don't have a table saw to make this manageable. I am a very experienced carpenter and installer and I found this product to be very difficult to deal with. The outcome is very satisfactory, but if you are the least bit timid about installing things, walk on by because this product will have you crying to your mama! ... show more
