  • It works GREAT
I was worried this wouldn't arrive in time for me to use it, however it showed up the day before I changed my differential oil and I'm glad. It works great, get it.

  • Excellent, Smooth Operation
I found this pump indispensable for changing the transfer case and rear differential oil on my 2013 Toyota RAV4. There just isn't enough room to pour oil directly out of the bottle and into the cases. I consider a pump to be pretty much mandatory for RAV4 gear oil changes. Pros: - Very smooth operation. Very controllable flow. - The included exit hose is plenty long enough to reach the cases in my circumstances. - The intake tube on my pump is rigid plastic rather than the clear hose pictured. I prefer that because the rigid tube reaches better to the bottom of the container. - The pump can be twisted and locked into the down position when not in use. Note: The pump screws into standard bottle openings. The opening on Red Line 75W85 GL-5 Gear Oil1 Quart bottles is non-standard--it's smaller--so the pump doesn't screw on. It'll still work; it just doesn't seal. ... show more

  • My First Time
I bought this with the intention of filling my transmission fluid after I dropped the pan and changed the filter on my 2011 F-150, which uses Motorcraft Mercon LV. This was my first experience doing this sort of thing; never used one of these before. I had no trouble fitting this pump onto the Mercon LV quart bottle. Even with fitment issues, the pump will still work without a proper seal, which is a good thing because the best way to clean it after use is by sticking the straw into a bucket of water and pumping the water through it. Something to note is the photo is NOT accurate. The bottom portion of the pump is not flexible tubing, it's a solid straight straw which is roughly 6" in length. The straight straw worked perfectly fine, after tilting the bottle a few ways while pumping I was able to remove all but 1/2 tablespoon of fluid. I ended up adding too much transmission fluid and had to take some out, this pump worked great for that too. It did require 3/8" tubing to be added to the straw end, which is just a tad larger than the tubing that is on the out spout. It took me roughly 4 minutes to pump out the entire quart, but I didn't have the truck raised, was laying half way under it and had to pump the bottle with my arms over and behind my head with minimal room to work with. I imagine if you had proper room to work, or better yet a lift, it would take less than 2 minutes per quart. I found the tubing to be adequate in length, roughly 17" inches; if anything it was a little too long for what I was doing, but again the truck wasn't raised. It's easy enough to unclasp the tubing and add a longer or shorter piece if needed. The one thing I found slightly frustrating, there is no way to release the suction in order to empty the fluid in the tube. This isn't a big deal if you plan to empty the entire quart because as you begin to pump air the tube begins to empty. It can get messy if you need to check the fluid level part way through a quart bottle. What worked for me was raising the tubing as high as I could to gain a few inches of empty space in the tube, then I wedged the tube between the trans lines which held it in an upright position. When it was all said and done, I'd lost about 1 tablespoon of fluid between drips on the pan, ground and my hand. ... show more

  • Two part review...
My car was down for a coolant reservoir change and needed this pump to extract the remaining coolant before I began disconnecting hoses. Time was of the essence, so I ordered this pump at around 18:00. one evening and paid the additional $2 for next morning delivery. The pump worked as advertised...no issues whatsoever. I'm not sure I would want to try and pump out quarts and quarts of fluid with it (as you would for a transmission service), but for my purposes and perhaps a front/rear differential service, this works just fine. As for the delivery, I was impressed. Gray Santa (aka Amazon delivery) usually makes rounds in my neighborhood in the middle/late afternoon time frame...and that's when I expected this to arrive. I was floored when I stepped put of the shower the next morning (by 08:15) to find this waiting for me. An extra $2 well spent for morning delivery to get my job done. Thanks Amazon! ... show more

This worked great. It really was self-priming and just worked really fast. I used it with Amsoil quarts, so it didn't fit around the top, but slid inside perfectly and reached the bottom as you can see in my photo. It really was easy to use and perfect for the intended purpose. I threw it away as I used it for rear differential lube which smells really bad and I would not want to mix fluids like that. Great product and exactly what I need. ... show more

  • Extremely useful paired w/ standard 1 qt oil jug
This pump came in extremely handy for adding transfer case and differential fluid in the tight spots offered by a 2005 X3 and 2012 X5. It fits the standard 1 qt "oil jug" and does a nice job reaching the bottom of the bottle. The tube that runs *in to* the bottle is not flexible, but runs straight to center-bottom of the jug. I don't know about other bottle fitments, so I'd advise keeping an empty 1 qt oil jug or two around for your specific needs. I used an empty 1 qt oil jug after doing and oil change, made sure the jug was drained thoroughly, added a small amount of the fluid I was going to use (e.g. gear oil) to rinse out the jug with the "target fluid", emptied that into my oil drain pan, then filled (and labeled) the jug with gear oil. The output hose on the pump is a good length and is flexible, and worked well for reaching the various fill ports I needed to access. It's a good buy in the amount of time it'll save you. ... show more
