The pump is for gas. It needed to be resealed and the hose clamps needed to be doubled up. Once that was done it works well and does not leak.

Coming from an agricultural upbringing, I'm more than familiar with fuel transfer pumps. My Dad and brother would always haul a big pump out to the pastures, and run it off one of the truck batteries to top off the tanks from jerry cans of fuel. I'm not raising cattle here on my "spread", but I did want something to fuel up my generator or car tank instead of wrestling 5 and 10-gallon fuel cans. This looked perfect, and I gave it a try. And I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use and how fast it pumped. For the price, you get the solid cast iron pump, a carrying handle, 1 pair of 3/8" nozzles, 1 pair of 5/8" nozzles, 3/8" and 5/8" clamps for hoses, plumbers tape, and a 13' power cable with alligator clips on the end, and a reversible flow switch. I discovered that you will need a bit more than the 6-8 amps in the listing. I tried a lightweight lithium 12-volt and found it too little for this pump. Once I opened the hood on my car and used that battery, the pump roared to life. I used this to transfer gasoline from a 5-gallon jerrycan to my car and was surprised at the transfer speed. It took only 2 minutes to pump all of the gasoline into my tank. Normally I would have expected it to take 2-3 times longer. You could seriously use this in an Ag situation and it would work just fine. OVERALL - Dad would have loved this instead of the big beast pump he used to use. Keeper! ... show more

Don't waste your money on this pump. It pumps so slow gravity flow is faster. Total waste of money. It will not even start to pump gas if the container is lower than the pump. TOTAL JUNK.

Pump works well. Nozzle size is for diesel not gasoline. Hose is just OK doesn't look like it will last. The filter will not fit into a 5 gallon fuel can.

The build quality seems sturdy, and the fuel pump is stated to be safe for gasoline. However, while I do have a way to hook up power to it, I do not have hoses and hose clamps to attach, so I have not yet had a chance to see it in action. I'll try to update this review once I get those parts.
