Happy with my purchase. Cost was lower than alternatives and it's well made. Width is perfect for the standard Ooni. I build and launch pies with this wooden peel and rotate/ remove with a metal turning peel. Background- I'm a middle-aged IT nerd who loves pizza and worked at a pizza place in college decades ago. We have an Ooni and a metal peel. Even with my "professional" experience, I still have issues with the dough getting stuck on the peel - toppings fly off or the dough rips. It happens when letting the dough sit on the peel too long. If you build your pie with the dough on one of the metal peels with holes and are not quick, you're in for a mess. Wood helps with this, as your dough can sit longer with less flour before getting stuck, as the wood absorbs some moisture. We have pizza parties where the kids make their own pies, so they sit for a while when we stage them up for cooking. Tip, flour your peel and dough ball with 50/50 mix of your dough flour and semolina. Before you launch with this wooden peel, shake to make sure it's not sticking. Rotate/ remove with a metal turning peel because the lip on this is pretty thick and will be hard to get under a pie. Finish is nice and it's also quite heavy, so I expect to last quite a while. Looks nice enough to also use for cheese and charcuterie.

The peel is of high quality and effectively launches pizzas into the pizza oven. However, there is some difficulty in removing the pizza from the oven using this peel. Therefore, I employ one peel for launching and a thin stainless peel for removing pizzas from the oven.

This product has one job .. put the pizza in the oven. It is very good at this one task. I have struggled for months using a metal pizza peel which felt like a lottery system getting the pizza to not stick while launching. Switching to this peel made me realize this is how it is intended to be done in the first place. Stuck pizzas are a thing of the past. All you have to do to use it is rub some flour on the peel and gently slide your pizza onto the peel. Do not try to slide the peel under your pizza, it is too thick for this to work. Do not try assembling your pizza on the peel either, you want the pizza to be on the peel for as short as possible to avoid sticking. After your pizza is on the peel and everything is ready to go, slowly slide the peel into your oven and I like to do a light tap and share then quickly slide it out. It will take some practice so just have patience. After a few times you will be able to consistently get it off without and issue. Remember to position your pizza where it is just barely about to fall off the edge of the peel, this will assist with getting it off. I would avoid using this peel to remove the pizza from the oven if possible, a metal peel is great for rotating or removing. This has made my pizza life a lot easier, highly recommend.
