  • Good investment
I haven’t used it yet, but the construction and overall quality seems to be all there. It’s a good little budget ring filer.

  • It works.
I am not sure that there is any difference in the 20.00 version and this 44.00 version. It worked though. Set gap for sprayed LS3.

  • Perfect tool for the job
I had a jegs ring filer that needed a new wheel. As I searched for the replacement wheel I came across this one, which was about the same price as just a replacement wheel. So far I’ve used it to build 3 LS engines, and don’t see why it won’t do many more!

  • One awesome little ring grinder!
I was pleasantly surprised by this little grinder. Once clamped onto the work bench, the pins keep the rings aligned so you get a square cut which is critical for gapping rings. The manual crank allows you to control just how much you grind off at a time. The disc was a tad uneven initially but after a few rings it smoothed out on that part of it. Then rings ground smoothly and evenly, I did not even need to sand the burrs off, there were none leftover! I wish I had got this grinder years ago on other builds. Take my advice, get this grinder and make your life a lot easier!! ... show more

  • Works great with a cordless drill.
Worked great when I attached a cordless drill to it. I had to File To Fit 16 piston rings and had to remove 0.020 on each ring. If I had done it with the hand crank, it would have taken me all day. I removed the handle, attached a screw where the setscrew was and chucked it into the drill. Ran it at a reasonable speed and it work great. I used a silver pen marker on the gap edge of the ring so I could gauge how much to remove. I'm not recommending you do the same because if you mess things up, don't blame me but I'm sure you can figure it out anyway. ... show more

  • You have to use it backwards to get proper grind direction
If you place the ring on the larger anvil surface, the grinding wheel will grind toward the outside of the ring (not what you want, as this can leave a burr). You have to turn the ring around and use the shorter side of the anvil so that the wheel grinds toward the inside of the ring (photo). Fully doable ... just have to be mindful of keeping the ring secure. Also. the grinding wheel is very course at first. If Proform had a clue (not just mindlessly repackaging stuff from China), this could be fixed. ... show more

  • Just spend the 60 bucks
Have a 408 lq4 build I'm taking on. Filed 2 rings by hand. Takes over 20minutes a ring... sucks when you have a lot to do. This turns a couple day affair into a couple hour affair and the cuts are much more perpendicular. Just be careful... if you find out 1 turn of the handle takes. 001 off, dont assume 5 quick turns will take off .005. Itll take off more and you'll overgap your rings. I overgapped a couple of mine slightly by accident. ... show more
