304 Stainless steel tumbling media is rust and corrosion resistant and ABLE to stand up to strong compounds. Using a Stainless steel media is important to avoid rust and works great for wet tumbling. The abrasion resistance of Stainless steel media is 3-5 times greater compared to cast steel media. Stainless steel media can be used over and over as long as it is stored properly. After using, strain in a fine mesh Strainer and lay out the pieces on a dry towel. Pat dry with another towel and let them air dry in a dry sunny area before storing. Some customers prefer to keep them stored completely submerged in water. Either way they will provide you with many uses.

Overall tested & works fine, I do have both + & - input on vendors description & comments made in a few reviews

Works as it should; price point is fair & 4stars are only for incorrect or misleading description as “all 304 Stainless”. One review said “magnetic, Not Stainless”; he’s partially right; (as that’s the first thing I tested when received) only 1 of 4 types is Not 304 stainless. It’s the thin straight pieces that are not, the other shapes are 304 stainless. Another complained he only received 1 lb, not 2lbs - I tested that too & it actually was a bit more than 2lbs. As for the rugged edges, I already finished 2 pieces of silver & I’m pleased with results. I am disturbed about false description & I will be contacting vendor; as we all depend on truthful info when ordering & reading all our reviews. As for some complaining about rust.. that’s mostly the fault of user care & possibly the one type of shot not 304 stainless. Always let totally dry before storing! I put It in one of those permanent coffee filters, rinse, shake well the excess water & let air dry. Before storing.

Left scratches!

I needed a second tumbler set-up for jewelry polishing, bought a Harbor Freight tumbler since the other one I have is from there. ( I had to return it since it turned out to be terrible and died within the hour of plugging it in; bought another one from RioGrande Jeweler's Supply) Anyway, I assumed this would be a good media for polishing silver since it has 4 different shapes. Turns out the tiny, little pins, which, btw, are a total "pita" because they cling to any wet surface and fall through the holes of my screen colander, but even worse, they are also sharp on the ends and left minute scratches all over the silver bracelets I just tumbled! I also had to tumble much longer to get any polish, more than twice that of my old shot without the pins. I am Not happy. I'll be sending it back asap. We'll see how good they are about returns next...

The small round ball shapes oxidize and dissolve to rust

I have purchased three different medias from this seller and this media contains some non stainless material. This is just some that were removed with the use of a magnate. The other medias i have purchased are the small pins. They work the best and are used daily for the last finishing before ceramic media. Also use the little saucers but they turn things black so they are only used as starter media for heavier oxidized castings. Please note. The tumblers used with these medias have all been conditioned before production use and only use distilled water with ivory bar soap.

Not as described

If you are a jeweler don't buy this. The pin shapes are roughly cut base metal wire, the rest of the shapes could be steel, but are roughly shaped and have sharp edges and corners that would damage jewelry. The shot is also way too small to have any hammering or burnishing effect on anything but the softest thinnest pieces. They would also get caught in intricate detail work where you would have to pry them out and possibly damage your work. Definitely not as pictured.

Bad quality

Did not like theses at all. Sooo glad I did not mix these with my original shocks. I question the authenticity of the stainless steel. Is it mixed with other metals?? Once used in my tumbler they develop a whitish coating on them and the metals that i polish them with tarnishes rather quickly. And aren’t as shiny and bright and my other shock. Will never buy these again.

Not as described: Highly Magnetic Pins

Significantly not as described. Pins are highly magnetic, unpolished and unsuitable for burnishing fine jewelry. Other shapes are smooth and only slightly magnetic. I would be afraid this shot will rust. I currently have 70 plus pounds of mixed stainless shot so I do know what I am doing. Returning to Amazon.

This will scratch your jewelry!

This is not for jewelry at least 40% that is you can sort it out took me over an hour. if you cleaning shotgun shells and such this is great the way it came. Gave it one star because this is not a Jewelers Mix.

Fantastic Quality!

I wish they wouldn't have raised the price in these (by $10), however the quality is fantastic! I'm not sure what others are talking about theirs rusting.. I've put these through the ringer and mine are as shiny as the day I received them. I'll will purchase more when the price comes back down.
