These are the real deal and are very long lasting. We, stretch ours to the limit by using bottled water in our Pioneer Teardrop fountain since our cat has, serious bladder disease and needs to drink a lot of fresh water. We keep the bowl in a high traffic area, so there are definitely things getting kicked up into the water like lint and dirt particles and these filters are small, compact, no charcoal mess, and really do a fabulous job of keeping the water in the teardrop fountain as clear as larger/higher priced filters. We can easily use them for 6 weeks... often stretching it longer because the water is still clear and the pump running well without any real gunk when we take the motor apart to clean it periodically. Just open the package, run the filter under cold water for a minute, and snap it into the slot and you're ready to go. This replacement filter is for my Pioneer Fountain that my cat uses. You get 3 filters in one box. Great value for money spent. I have checked at pet stores and if they even carry this, it's three times the price. I only have one cat, so there is not as much strain on the filter as other users have indicated. It does a great job at removing the excess saliva, hair, and grime that builds up. I can stretch this filter for about 3 months and it's great value for the cost. I have a diabetic cat and I have to spend thousands a year on her medicine and vet visits. I'm happy I don't have to spend a lot on the filters. They are easy to change and you just throw out the old and put in the new. My kitty usually indicates when it's getting time for a new one. She will paw at the water or just not drink it when it's not being filtered enough. I'm not very savvy at changing and replacing things around the house, but this is easy! ... show more

My Pioneer Pet Stainless Steel Fountain Raindrop Design cat fountain only uses this type of cartridge. It's a great looking fountain, easy to clean and the cats like it. These cat fountain filter cartridges are rather pricey, so for years I just kept the last one and cleaned it periodically - it opens and you can clean the filter fabric and replace the charcoal with drinking-type charcoal purchased in bulk. This is a much less expensive way to do it. When my original cartridge filter fabric was on its last legs and the pegs that hold the cartridge together broke, I bought these so I would have replacements. I love my cats' fountain, and will continue to do as I have done with the filter and still have back-ups when one of the cartridges deteriorates. ... show more
