The glass screen really makes the head unit pop. The colors are rich and it's so easy to see in the sun. It's tiny and leaves a lot of space behind it for wires and such. The built in Alexa seems kind of crippled as it won't let me use the drop in feature (yet). The audio quality is great - love Pioneers quality. BUT The downside I almost dinged a star off the rating is the miserable volume and capacitive buttons. What idiot decided to get rid of good physical buttons is beyond me. Thankfully my steering wheel controls let me have my physical button without delay - but there seems to be a small delay on the screen's buttons and it was so frustrating when cranking up my subs and not having good control to quickly turn up and down the volume. The iOS app to design your screen layout and such is really cool and firmware update was easy. The instructions are subpar on the app, but I figured it out without reading a manual so, I suppose that's intuitive enough. The customization of this head unit is really wonderful. I typically only use carplay for everything - but the layout options with using my phone's hotspot for weather, sports, alexa, etc. makes it nice to have options instead of just carplay. ... show more

Simple, unit is pricy but it does feature a full EQ with adjustability, and many more features packed in there. I will agree with most my WIRELESS CarPlay is glitchy and will sometimes drop, but I tend to use the usb for charging anyways. One star down for not being able to program CarPlay properly.     • Great Multimedia Receiver With Wireless Carplay! Awesome Addition To My WRX!
The media could not be loaded. I recently self-installed this Pioneer multimedia receiver on my 2017 Subaru WRX with the basic factory sound system. Despite it being a complicated installation, which took the better part of the day with all the harness wiring and installation, I was able to retain all my steering wheel controls and rearview camera with the addition of the IDatalink Maestro RR unit. My parts list included: 1. Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX 2. Metra AX-SUBUSB2 USB Adapter 3. Scosche SU2031B Double Din Kit 4. Metra 40-LX11 Antenna Adapter 5. iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module 6. iDatalink HRN-RR-SU2 Interface Harness 7. Posi-Twist Connectors Just the addition of the new receiver has significantly improved the sound quality despite no additional speakers/subwoofer. This is due to the added power to the speakers from the head unit as well as the improved equalizer by Pioneer. The Apple Wireless Carplay functionality is fantastic and makes me feel like I'm driving a brand new car! You won't miss the absence of a disk slot I'm sure! Although it would be nice to have a volume knob, adding one to the unit would significantly detract from the unit's aesthetic and sleek appearance. Thankfully the steering wheel controls work great. I had this installed a couple of months ago. It is worth every cent and probably more. Massive upgrade for my use-case. Having wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is an ergonomics game-changer. Less time fiddling with Google Maps on your phone means more time looking at the road. Its ability to pair with a rearview camera means parallel parking becomes a cinch. Having HD radio support means you don't have to compromise on audio quality. I added a steering wheel control adapter to this and it generally worked OK. There is an edge case in usage where if you're using Apple CarPlay and listening to the radio at the same time and you cycle to another station the head unit will cycle amongst all the preset stations indefinitely until the mode-change button is toggled. It definitely isn't the steering wheel controller causing the issue since it only happens in that one specific situation and nowhere else. Thankfully I can say with certain confidence that after upgrading to firmware version 1.30 this singular bug has disappeared. The head unit has an HDMI input which I will be using to plug in a Raspberry Pi running Retropie to replay some top moments with Eddy Gordo on Tekken 3. This head unit has tons of inputs and outputs that should leave most vehicle A/V aficionados satisfied. ... show more
