This is a great head unit, sound quality is outstanding, make sure to buy a dash kit. There's not a way to install this head unit and have it look finished without one.

    • Giant Screen
I didn't realize how huge the screen was going to be. Had to get a specialty mounting kit for it. It is a floating-mount made special for this radio. Check the Crutchfield website before pulling the trigger. If it does fit your vehicle, you will love it.

For the money. Not worth it. The audio is 2 seconds behind my phone. Whether it's Bluetooth or android auto. The resolution is horrible, I should have returned it when a had the chance.

This was a monster to get installed into a Jeep JL/JT dash. If you want a challenge this is it. Overall the unit itself puts out clean sound to my Memphis 4 channel amp running Memphis component speakers. The functionality of the unit is fast no doubt but it is too complex. The amount of features should remain but have them on tabs on the main screen. The resolution is acceptable but for this price point it should be better. I think that a $509-$529 price is more justifiable. I used the Metra KIT-WJL2 dash kit which is specifically required for the install. In my opinion the brain should of had its own mount to be put in independently. Also required is the idatalink Maestro RR to integrate the vehicle controls into the Pioneer radio. Stuffing it all in with the wires, RCA cables and accessory connections is almost impossible without trimming a few edges off of the dash. The supplied USB connection will NOT CLEAR, period. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to connect it last after mounted. Looking back I only got this over the Alpine 407 for the Jeep because of the 13 band parametric EQ. It will give me a better fine tuning option for sound quality. If you are going to attempt this be patient and take your time getting the cables in. A bungee cord from the mirror will help immensely and the thick wire is the antenna for the unlabeled adapter. The radio looks so good that my wife wants one in her Jeep now… ... show more
