  • You just cna't beat the Pioneer
Size: 24000 BTU - 208/230 V
I'm a licensed Handyman. And I've installed about 12-15 of various sizes of the Pioneer MiniSplit. I saw them originally about 10 years ago on a vacation in the Caribbean islands. At the time I was having a cooling/heating issue in an add on office at my home. I started to notice while on vacation just what the homes and apartments on the island were using and I noted that about 30-40% of them were Pioneer. When I got home I bought my first one and used it in my own home. From then on I use Pioneer exclusively for installs for my customers. I've used various sizes and both 120v and 240v. I used to have my HVAC guy do the final purge and evac of the system, but on the last one I did a few months ago I bought the equipment I needed to do that work myself. It was EASY to do. The only issue I've ever had with one was a bad remote that was replaced in 2-days. ... show more

  • If you DIY - Buy all the tools. Requires a 1/4 to 5/16 R410a adapter also.
Size: 24000 BTU - 208/230 V
Final Review after updates: Gauge problems gave me false pressure readings, and I thought the unit was not charged with refrigerant as listed. It was fine; my gauges were at fault. This is a very solid, well made AC unit. I'm very pleased with it. It comes well boxed. The "kit" comes with every part you'll need...even a sleeve for the hole in the wall to hold the f-glass out of the hole! I recommend you buy a 4" cover for the exterior lines [3" is too small for the corners unless you're going straight down the wall]. You'll be glad you did; These lines are ugly and susceptible to damage, including rodents and sun damage to the drain tube, but the cover takes care of all that so long as you close off the bottom end with screen cloth. *Note* The vendor will NOT warranty the unit if it is not professionally installed by a licensed HVAC Tech. I ended up hiring a tech to come and verify the system. I think that was worth it, and my warranty is now valid. I'm a retired Auto tech. I've installed and serviced car AC systems for 20 years. I had no problems installing the 24,000 BTU unit. I have some advice if your going to DIY: 1) Measure 3 times where the hole in the wall will go. Make absolutely sure you're in the right spot. 2) Have, borrow, or buy these essential tools: a tubing bender, a clamp-on amp meter, **AND** if you're NOT going to hire an HVAC tech to charge and test the system, also get the essential special 1/4 to 5/16 R410a adapter. [no one had this part in stock, and it took a week to get it!]. If you have that R410a adapter, you CAN rent the gauges and vacuum pump from your local auto parts store (Auto Zone or O'Rielly) to complete the installation. Be CERTAIN you follow the evacuation steps and charge procedures exactly as directed. Be sure to leave the vacuum pump running until you've closed the valves and thereby shut off the lines to the AC unit. You MUST have a power shut-off switch within direct view of the outdoor unit. This can be a breaker box, but you must have a means to shut it down in clear and direct view. DIY can save you around a thousand dollars, but do it right the first time around. In final testing, this unit only draws 10.6A / 230V (2438 Watts) running MAX Cool. That's excellent! ... show more

  • Good Mini-split. would recommend
Size: 24000 BTU - 208/230 V
After 15 years, our LG mini split stopped working. A good run after 15 years. We couldn't find a similar LG. Someone recommend this mini-split. Here is the pros and cons: Pros: 1 - Very powerful mini-split. During the summer, it kept the whole room cool. It does a perfect job. Cons: 1 - the swivel is not very good. I wished it swivel more down. If you sit underneath it on a coach, you won't feel the cold air or heat. During the winter, when it was really cold, the HEAT (air) blew out. it only heated the other side of the room and not area right beneath the heater. The swivel does not point down enough. :( Outside of the swivel, this is a great product. ... show more

  • Horrible tech support - company was purchased
Size: 24000 BTU - 208/230 V
I'll change the review if tech support ever responds to my email. I have 4 indoor unit (2 connected to a dual zone). The 110V (small and cheap, less than $800), worked ok for a couple years (but only blew cool air that measured 68 degrees at the blow) - heater worked good - very inexpensive to run - no regrets and tech support (int 2015) was great The dual zone (2 indoor units, 2400 btu total) has worked great, with exception of a few incidences with water dripping down and damaging furniture - works great for cool + heat, and very inexpensive, working for ~4+ years now A single zone, 2400 btu - works great for cool (only had for 6 months), but has already had 1 incident of dripping a lot of water down on furniture (couldn't be due to drain pipe issues though, but all units will eventually drip water occasionally) The single zone, 24000 btu (WYT024GLFI19RL) has an indoor unit with a cover that's different from the others, it has additional clips that prevent the cover from being removed so that you can clean it (all units will have mold growth (black and white) in 6 months if you don't clean them) - tech support sent me the wrong instructional video and won't respond to any further email inquiries - When HighSeer was the own, tech support was great - now, they suck the units are pretty good for the money - but if you want tech support, this company has been purchased in the last 5 or so years and the tech support is obtuse, seemingly intentionally ... show more
