    • Great radio

I bought this to replace the stock radio in my 2015 Nissan Frontier. I had it professionally installed so they were able to tell me what additional parts I needed for this so I could still use my XM radio, back up camera and steering wheel controls. I’m glad I went with this item, it works great, has many features and the back up camera is much clearer than the stock one. Touchscreen works great. And I can actually see the screen when the sun hits it unlike my old screen. ... show more

    • It’s pretty ok
Pretty good but the features sets are confusing on the Pioneer EX line. They all look very much alike so be sure to read the small print and get what you want as far as phone/video/supported apps/and supported accessories. They don’t progressively get more features as the model numbers go up. The on-screen graphics for menus and various displays look a bit dated and cheesy on this model, as well as the fonts. There are limited options for menu/display appearance but plenty for display color. I wasn’t expecting the radio to show a large, fixed dial display to show the radio is selected but doesn’t move when the channel is changed for example. It’s just a picture, not a functioning dial. Come on, it’s 2025! On the positive side, It does what it says it does and sounds pretty good, it does switch the factory sub amp on/off on my 08 Ford “shaker 500” system without issue and the Bluetooth works well. This is one of the more budget models so there’s that also. I’m gonna keep it for a while and see if it grows on me, it is a step up from the factory radio. ... show more

Got the switch installed to get the video on screen with weblink. Its wired to the unit, and still fails it disconect when touching the phone. Is annoying to get back to the weblink. • Not as good as the original, but works great.
This unit is not your old school Pioneer. The thing doesn't even come with a locking cage. I mean I expect a ready to install unit. However without a mounting cage, it's not ready to install is it? As for the actual specifications, there are none in the book. Now I need to make brackets to install this in my travel trailer. Not sure what I think of Pioneer being bought out. Seems as though the new owners may not be so good at quality. I will update after I make some metal brackets and see how this sounds compared to my real Pioneer from 1999. It still works fine btw. If it sux it will go back! We will see if Car Ux has ruined the Pioneer name or not here shortly. Anyway I picked this up for the Dvd player and the unit having video output so I can run it to my 24" TV on the trailer. (Update) 08/26/2026. Okay more things that I'm not impressed with. The manual does not give the speaker wire designation to how to wire it. I had to use my old Pioneer manual to get the speaker color codes. Perhaps some of the literature was not in the box, not sure, it wasn't secure taped closed when I received the box. Moving on. This unit has been hooked up and ran for 24 hours turned up to about (by listening to it) to just under distortion. It is was running at a 6 ohm load with Yamaha speakers. It sounds great. Very impressed with the built in amp. 24 hours were of course to burn in the amp and speakers as well, which were new as also. After getting through the kinda minor, but unneeded issues this will probably be a nice dependable car audio unit. If you can figure stuff out on your own and so slight fabrication you will probably enjoy this unit I can recommend this Pioneer. ... show more
