There are better mechanical pencils out there. They are all made of better materials and cost a lot of $$$. These pencils, however, are the best mass produced pencils you can get. The leads are durable and don't break. The pencil grips are comfortable, even with lengthy periods of writing. It's super easy to refill lead and new erasers. The plastic used also seems to be more durable and better looking than any of the other cheap pencils out in the market. It is a shame that this is the only place I can find these now. Impossible to find these in a store locally. Pilot is my favorite brand for mechanical pencils and no sharpening too! I got hooked on them at work and although now retired they’re still my preference.

I had purchased another brand of mechanical pencils (staples) and used them until I just couldn't bear it any longer. The eraser was garbage...just smeared black smudges all over the paper. I finally purchased these, and everytime I erase I feel like I am in heaven. I half expect a mess, but then I am very pleasantly surprised by how perfectly it erases. The writing end works great too. The lead is thin, but it does not break easily. Best mechanical pencil I’ve ever used. The eraser can be difficult to change on some but not others even though they all seem to be built the same way.
