This is my first laser engraver. I'll be using it to mark power tools with plastic housings at work. The paper instruction manual isn't particularly detailed, but there are instructional videos on the included thumb drive. I stumbled through those videos and got the machine working with LightBurn and I'm starting to dial in the power and speed settings on some old junk tools. The text I'm engraving is currently mirrored, but I can get that sorted while I'm practicing on the junk tools. I have a good amount of experience with a Voron 3D printer I built a while back and the software and operation of this laser is very similar in a lot of ways, but there is still a learning curve for me. Engraving unknown types of plastic is a bit challenging, but I am getting acceptable markings after 20 minutes of experimenting. I can see that I'm going to have to use it for this purpose outdoors, as the smoke and fumes from the plastic burning don't smell too nice. I haven't tried cutting any materials yet, but a machine of this type and power level is only appropriate for cutting very thin materials. At the price point this is a very capable piece of machinery for basic engraving.

It's remarkable to be able to get laser engravers at this price point. Though naturally less capable than more powerful units, at 10W this engraver can do a good and precise job of engraving. It can also cut, but slowly and with multiple passes, so the best use case is for engraving, or cutting thinner softwood. The 10W power is achieved through dual 5W diodes. Pros: - It works! - It was very well packaged. - There is a user manual written in understandable English. (But, see cons below). - It comes nearly fully assembled. The frame, gantry, and belts are fully assembled. Two sets of feet are supplied. The laser head unit needs to be attached, and cabling needs to be run and connected to three connectors. If you already know what to do, the process is quick. (But, see cons below). - The product integrates with the free LaserGRBL software. (But, see cons below). Cons: - The instructions are horrible. There is absolutely nothing explaining the hardware or the assembly steps mentioned above. I figured out how to connect the laser head and cabling, but with zero help from documentation. Given this is precision equipment, it would be nice to not have to guess and fly blind. - There is no parts list provided, much less descriptive explanation. As a result, there are numerous parts provided that have unclear purpose. - There is a thumb drive provided that is supposed to contain a video, which no doubt would have been helpful. However, the thumb drive is either empty or corrupt. One might think the user manual would have a web link for viewing or downloading the video, or a link to YouTube, where the company could place the video at no cost to them. They could also put a link and/or upload the video on the Amazon listing. There are videos of other, somewhat similar, engravers on YouTube, and it helps to view a couple of those to get the feel that you're on the right track. - While the LaserGRBL software works, again the instructions are not very thorough. For example, it's not clear that you need to download a driver (or how to do so), install it, then restart the computer. That said, once the right hoops are navigated, the software works well. My assessment is this is a good entry level engraver, with enough power to do useful things, and not so much power that engraving precision is lost. However, the manufacturer/ seller misses the boat on the productization steps that would make it a five star winner. Close, so close...

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Phoisk Laser Engraver, and I must say, I'm impressed. This machine offers a great balance of power, precision, and versatility. The laser engraver's output power is impressive, allowing it to cut through a variety of materials with ease. I was particularly impressed with its ability to engrave intricate details onto wood and acrylic. The laser's high energy density and small focal spot ensure that the engravings are sharp and precise. One of the things I appreciate most about this machine is its large engraving area. This allows me to work on larger projects without having to worry about limitations. The adjustable laser head and risers also make it easy to work with objects of different heights. So, I must be an outlier here. I spent a couple hours with the manual and watching the included videos, I installed all 3 mentioned pieces of software on my Dell G7 laptop. I fought through the videos, trying to change settings and ports as shown. I never got motion. I've failed at getting more than the fan to run. The company really needs to do a better job at making the videos take more time, actually talking you through the process and having a way to take a person who knows nothing to the point that the machine runs. I'm going to wait until my 19 year old son is around to see if he can figure this out.
