So first off, I want to preface this by saying I've been a user of the August lock since 2021 or so, And the August experience while functional for what I needed it to be was never great. However this Phillips lock is a far, far better improvement then the August lock. My biggest gripe with the August lock was the fact that it was not reliable both from a network standpoint and a continual lack of security, with random openings of the lock and weird times and or random inability to access the lock at critical times. Which was extremely frustrating. This Philips lock has resolved all my problems. It is so fast to open and close the door it's unbelievable. Not once have I lost network connection or been unable to access it from the app. Some people are saying that the app is not great but truly you don't need a super fancy app to open and close your lock. You really don't! Pros of this lock: Clean uncluttered and smooth app, no lag Ability to add fingerprints Ability to see the battery status of your lock and all its accessories ( Come on August why was this so difficult to do) Easy integration with Alexa and Google Home Easy passcodes, easy history view Ability to assign codes... temporary and otherwise Cons: So far none, I will update this if I encounter any cons.

The installation was a little more involved than was necessary because the dead bolt bing replaced was probably the original installed 30 years ago. On the first attempt following the instructions to have the bolt retracted, it would not work even with the key from the outside. I loosened the screws and was able to wiggle the inner assembly to reposition the bolt and turn the key to the lock position. I decided at that time to remove the inside plate and reinstall it with the bolt extended. Once I was able to turn the key to lock and unlock positions, I retracted the bolt and continued with the installation steps. Finished the installation and was able to lock and unlock the door from inside. So far, so good. Now for the phone app. It asks for email, password, and a code. The installation book said the code was on the back of the battery cover. I tried everything I could read. Failed every time. Finally I called the help number. The lady asked if I got the email with the code. NOT MENTIONED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. I checked and had 6 emails. Used the code on the last one and was able to complete the setup. My only remaining issue is with the voice command, and I should have researched more on that. I have Siri, Alexa, and Google. It doesn’t work with Siri so can’t unlock from my watch. Alexa will lock the door but I have not been able to get her to unlock. I haven’t tried the Google Assist yet, that’s next. Over all I’m not sorry I made this purchase, but when I find a dead bolt replacement that is this easy to install and works with Apple, I’ll probably pass this on to a relative.

This technology is spectacular! The convenience that it offers combined with the ease of use and ability to track who comes into the house is just what we needed with two teenagers. Not having to fuss around for keys or remember to lock the door every time we go in or out is a lifesaver! The keypad is easy to install/use and allows for a code and/or fingerprint reading. I have a Yale / August smart lock but it does not ship to my location so I tried this one. Build is ok, it’s smaller than my other 3rd generation smart lock and has a built in wifi so it doesn’t need a wifi hub. Functionality is almost the same except for the Auto Unlock function. You will need to knock on the door to unlock it, unlike my Yale smart lock which detects if you are within a few meters from it and it will unlock automatically. Hopefully this gets fixed with future software updates.

The product is as advertised. It was easy to install. I installed the lock and keypad, but did not install the door sensor. The key is to make sure the dead bolt lock opens / closes smoothly first. I had no problems with connecting the app to my wifi, with the lock or the keypad. The fingerprint set up went smoothly too. I was even able to easily add it to my Google home. The video on Amazon, along with the pictures, were a big help. The lock, keypad, fingerprint and app are all working great! I can't comment on the battery life as I just installed it today. A definite buy.

Very happy with this device. Hooked right up to my old deadbolt and connected easily to my WiFi. App works well and now I can remotely lock and unlock. If you want to use Alexa then you need to connect to it From the Philips app not from the Alexa skills store. A+ product.
