For over $100 one should get a sub-woofer out, but not here. Also the requirement for the app is not necessary unless there is an accompanying sub woofer and other satellite speakers to round out the system then it would most likely get 4.5 to 5 stars. If you on a budget this bar I highly recommend and IMHO think it has a nicer sound with sub-out. I can't stand watching TV and the sound coming from the built in speaker. It sounds tinny and just doesn't cut it while watching a good movie. That's why this sound bar is so nice to have. You can take a low end tv and make it sound great with the Philips sound bar. The nice thing about this sound bar is it's easy to set up, not only that you can listen in Dolby digital sound. I'm not real keen on all the specs but if you want better sound then this is the unit for you and it doesn't come with a big price. You can operate it with the remote or with the app on your phone. Your phone connects to it via Bluetooth. It also has brackets where you can hang it on the wall but it also will easily sit on a flat surface. Enjoy watching TV again... ... show more

Despite i had a bad experience with the first one I’ve received but, when I got the replacement, I can definitely say it’s a unique soundbar for a such price. No subwoofer but the bass is really cool. The size is great with attractive design. I would give 5 but regarding that you have to connect the bar every single time you turn on the tv is a little silly… ... show more

Sound is ok, but cost is too much for what you get. Easy to set up and use. Voice is good and that is why I kept it. My wife and I are hearing impaired and use subtitles routinely. I noticed on some programs that we did not need the subtitle. Voice was clear and central. But as for the base, etc...meh... ... show more

we have a very nice sound bar with subwoofer but this one we needed for a different TV and Phillips brand has always been a good one and this one seems to have nice sound quality easy to use and seems to be a good value.
