The Philips Lumea IPL device has been such a welcome addition to my self care. I have always been interested in trying IPL and I now only wish I had done it sooner. This was extremely easy to get started with— the instruction book was detailed, straightforward, and very helpful. There was zero pain, no irritation, no discomfort when using the device. I have used this both in my face, underarms, and overall body so far. After 2 sessions, I have noticed an overall decrease in hair present; and I expect that there will continue to be less as I follow the program. To get started, use once every 2 weeks (so easy!) for 4 sessions, and then keep up with a maintenance session. The device has delivered results for me, but I also appreciate that it was designed to be safe— for the skin, the user, and your environment. The light flashes, but it penetrates well into your skin and without pain. And even after a long session, the device doesn’t overheat. I absolutely recommend this Philips Lumea device I have 2 attachments (face, body), but I am looking to add more to target specific areas even better. Love that I can now spa quality hair removal at home, and for a fraction of the price. ... show more

I love this device! I’ve tried several at home hair removal devices and found that the number of repetitions needed to achieve results was too high for me to stick with using the product. With the Lumea, I saw results after only two uses. Not only does it work effectively, it’s extremely comfortable. I used level 5 on my face with no discomfort or skin reactions. This is in stark contrast to the discomfort of in-office treatments I’ve received that have had frankly similar results. The device is small and this model comes with two attachments. They are easily interchangeable. The device also comes with a bag, which is useful for keeping the attachments and plug together. Other devices I’ve used have wound up as tangles in my bathroom drawers—this promises to prevent that. The device also comes with an app, which is convenient for guiding newcomers through usage but isn’t necessary if you can’t download it. As for usage, it was extremely simple to use. Point and shoot! You place the sensor against your skin, the front of the device lights up to signal you’re ready, and you press a button. Bam. Move on. Admittedly that part was a little fun. All in all, I’ll absolutely be recommending this product to friends and family. I also look forward to using it again after I have more kids and my hormones cause hair to regrow (yay). ... show more

    • Great at-home IPL device!
I’ve been using the Philips Lumea 8000 for several weeks now, and I’m genuinely impressed. To be frank, I was initially skeptical because I’ve tried plenty of hair-removal methods over the years, but this has exceeded my expectations. The device itself is very easy to use. The skin sensor was helpful and reassuring - it suggests what level you should start at. Each session is relatively quick. I started noticing slower regrowth after just a few sessions - I found that some hairs did not come back, and those that did came back thinner. Compared to the cost and inconvenience of salon treatments, I feel like this is a great long-term investment. I love the convenience of doing treatments at home, on my own schedule. If you’re patient and follow the instructions, this really works. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable, effective at-home IPL device. ... show more

After two sessions of this product I can say that I have noticed a reduction in hair growth. It is super easy to use and has an app that helps guide you through finding the right level of intensity. This product is great for beginners like me. Point and shoot. If you are looking for something that does toes, or upper lip this product might not work yet. (We’ve asked for a micro tool) I tried and just couldn’t get the angle right on my small toes to make it work. I will definitely recommend this to others. Great product. ... show more

I've had this for almost a month and I've used it twice on my legs and underarms. I've seen a difference in hair growth, and I recommend it for at home semi-permanent hair removal. I've had laser done in a salon which works pretty well but hair does regrow after ten years or so, and there are always a small number of hairs which seem to miss getting hit at the right time! Having something at home is really nice to supplement salon removal, but also works really well if you just want to do something yourself and not deal with salon time/expense/tips. Comparing this to another home IPL that I own, I like how straightforward the device is to use, I also really like the light at the back of the device that indicates that a good connection is made and that the device is ready to flash. I don't find the device painful, but I'm very experienced in all forms of epilation! Getting a good connection on my knees/ankles is challenging. ... show more

    • Well-designed Product
I really appreciated that this device is powerful yet gentle. I could feel the IPL penetrating down to the hair follicle but my skin never felt hot or irritated. I liked the design (the “hand-feel”). Compared to a competing product, I noticed the light did not escape the attachment. Other products are almost blinding. This one, all the light goes into the skin where it’s intended to go. I noticed a reduction in hair growth after two sessions, which was exciting. The manual makes it clear that more than two sessions are required for full removal, which is why the app would be handy for regular reminders (I just used a good old fashioned calendar). Definitely a great product and a fair price for the technology and design. The only thing that took a little getting used to was being able to tell when the indicator light was indicating that the device was ready to flash again, but I kind of got a sense for it after a minute or two of using it. ... show more
