  • Magic in a box
Size: 65 Inch
I love these. They work exactly as advertised. I have fully embedded myself in the Phillips Hue ecosystem, so I have plenty of experience in setting up bits and pieces here and there, and it’s never been anything but easy. Everything just works. It’s almost as easy as setting up an Apple product. That’s about the highest praise you can give a consumer electronic. It has the added benefit of working seamlessly with Apple Home. As for the experience, it really makes a difference. It effectively extends the edges of the frame enough that your peripheral vision doesn’t need the image, just the impression of an image. It’s really cool to see. If you’re looking into something like this then I endorse it. It’s a luxury, and a totally unnecessary one, but it’s one that is worth the money if you have invested in your home setup. ... show more

  • Best TV Immersion Kit
Size: 75 Inch
The media could not be loaded. No complaints at all. Performs much better than competitors. Everything syncs well, both timing and color. Once you have it setup correctly (which is simpler than other lighting systems), it turns on and syncs by itself. Unlike systems with cameras, you don’t need to stress about color calibration. Really the best option i’ve seen for lighting immersion. You really can’t go wrong with Phillips. It looks great, it’s easy to setup and easy to use, and provides the immersion I’m looking for. I’ve paired this kit with the play bar under my TV for lights on all 4 sides of the TV. ... show more

  • Too Expensive, But in a Class of Their Own
Size: 75 Inch
It's too expensive, it was painful to spend this much money on TV lights, but as far as I'm aware these lights are in a class of their own and I feel like Phillips knows this so they shoot for a crazy margin. I can only guess. The fact of the matter is, setting this up was as painless as it gets (except the instructions didn't say the direction of the strip mattered, I had to dismount it once to turn it around), and the light show is perfect. I don't know why I feel like a nice synced light behind the TV is worth $500 (nearly as much as my TV itself!), but it feels like a little magic portal and I like it, so that is that. I still don't have the actual light bar underneath the TV for another $240, I have two play light I think they're called. That will be another yikes expensive purchase one day, sigh. ... show more

  • Great idea, poor power management
Size: 75 Inch
Great idea, poor execution. Syncbox has a power supply, low power need. But so does the led strip you purchase to accompany this behind the tv. If you wall mount a tv, make sure you have a 4 plug outlet behind, otherwise you’ll eat up the available outlets quickly with the large wall plug for the syncbox box, large wall plug for the led strip, and your tv power plug. Could have easily added a jumper and led power plug on to the sync box to eliminate the need for two power supplies. Now I’m gonna have to jankify some other solution ... show more

  • Brighten Up Your Viewing Experience
Size: 55 Inch
I've got to say, the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box with the Gradient Light Strip is pretty cool. Setting it up was straightforward, even for someone who's not a tech genius. Once it was all plugged in, it completely changed how we watch TV. The lights sync with what's on the screen, adding a seriously immersive vibe to movie nights. It's like bringing the theater experience home but without the overpriced popcorn. I love how you can customize the colors and brightness to fit whatever mood you're in. And the best part? It's not just for movies; it works with games and music too. My daughter is fascinated by the colors, and she loves watching them change. It's a little pricey, but if you're a home theater enthusiast, it's worth it. Just make sure you've got a good spot to hide the cords for a clean look. Overall, it adds a fun, dynamic element to our living room that everyone appreciates. ... show more

  • I was impressed!
Size: 65 Inch
I was very impressed with the performance of this Philips hue play HDMI sync box. It performed exactly as they say it does. Which is surprising considering how many times you buy something and it isn't quite what they say. Well this is exactly what they say it is and it works very well. I must say I was impressed. The quality of the lights is good, it's bright and quite fun actually. It adds a lot to your movie viewing. The installation took me a little bit just because I'm not great at the high tech stuff so I was a little bit nervous doing it, but I got it figured out and it worked just fine. So I can do it you can do it. I do think it's priced quite high, but I don't think there's anything else on the market that can compare to it. I'm sure the price will come down if the competition get something that's at least close to as good. Right now it seems like this is the only thing out there. They definitely have a corner in the market right now. They did a good job with this too so you do get what you pay for. ... show more

  • It really really looks great. You didn't know you needed this.
Size: 75 Inch
Instant wow. Upgraded from the old version without HDR and am very happy. The gradient strip hugs the back of the TV and throws color that matches the screen so well it feels like doubling the screen size (my kid actually asked if I changed the TV). Setup was simple with the Hue app, and I have a Bridge, so my account was already good to go. Calibration took a few minutes, but I used zelda totk which gives awesome color control where you can look slowly up at the sky and see the wall turn blue. Movies, sports, and games pop. I'm mostly games. Dolby Vision and HDR look clean, and the sync feels immediate to the eye. You can get the same peformance from the old version but ONLY if your hue was the terminal stop on a chain of HDMI splitters and your HDR signal goes to your projector (or tv) first and then hits in 1080p or so at the hue end. This one can be used as a hub itself with anything. The HDMI box handled our devices including switch and PS5 and an old Wii U, and the room goes from normal to theater with an Alexa voice command. Yes, it costs real money, but the upgrade is HUGE and the build feels premium. If you want that “how is this my living room” vibe, this is a great way to entertain. ... show more
