  • Needs a better connection
Style: Lily Extension
I love Philips Hue, have loved them from the start and I was super excited to get outdoor versions when they came out. I was very surprised by the price of these lights. $200 for a single light is a little crazy in my opinion but I purchased 11 out door lights anyway. They were great for about 11 months or so, then one light suddenly wouldn’t stop flashing like a strobe light. Took the out of the daisy chain connection which completely screwed up my entire configuration, and found that despite how tight I had it on, water must have made its way into the t-connectors and cause rust and the pins were broken off completely. I got a replacement then a couple weeks goes by and another light, same issue, then another. Well now 4 out of my original 11 are non functional. That’s almost $800 in lights that barely made it a year. For that kind of money I’m a bit disappointed in the quality max needless to say that as they die I won’t be replacing them any longer, and probably going to look into more affordable brands. Maybe if they redesign the connection type and also find a better way for them to connect together, I might consider trying them again down the road. But reconfiguring was a headache in its self. Do I think they’re make great products,? Yes! Do I still love my indoors hue lights? Yes! I just don’t recommend the any of the outdoor lights, period. In fact, I have a standard color hue in my outdoor front porch light, even though it says not to do that but that light is gong strong for 3 years now…. ... show more

  • Good looking light but dim for colors other than white
Style: Lily Extension
I love this product for what it is, which is a simple to use smart landscape option from a brand I trust. However, Hue products remain overpriced compared to their competitors, some of which have become just as good at a much lower price point. Still, this is a good looking light that has weathered the weather (harsh sun and lots of rain) well. My main complaint is that while the white is very bright in all shades, if you switch to any other color it becomes significantly more dim. Otherwise the product is easy to control and customize through the app, and I have never had trouble adding them using the serial number approach from within the app. It also works well with Echoes. ... show more

  • These are Add-ons! Don't buy if you haven't got the base kit
Style: Lily Extension
I love these lights! No they don't come with a power adapter to supply the power. It comes with the base kit, buy that first. I bought TP-link bulbs in the past because they are much cheaper, but Phillips bulbs are remarkable. They can dim real low, and brighten really well all while supporting a wide variety of color that no other bulb can. I'm switching all my bulbs to these because of how well they can paint a room to a specific mood. ... show more

  • Hue ecosystem is nice, but their proprietary cable is annoying
Style: Calla Extension
Nice way into the Hue ecosystem for outdoor deployments, but they should get over the proprietary cable. The included cable is 16 feet long. I bought a lot of these bollard lights. Sometimes I needed a 16 ft. cable. Sometimes I needed a 3 ft. cable. In a traditional outdoor lighting scenario, usually you'd just be cutting your own low voltage cable to whatever length you want. Having to bury a bunch of extra cable is annoying. ... show more

  • Beware the version you are purchasing.
Style: Calla Base Kit
I love these lights. they were easy to install and integrated quite easily with my Hue system. My only issue is that I seem to have purchased 5 lights and ended up with 2 sets of slightly different lights (different generations I assume). Coming back to check on Amazon, I see indeed that 3 of the lights link to one listing and the 2 others link to another listing. The noticeable difference is that there are some Hue features like the fireplace and candle effects that I cannot use on the 2 older lights. ... show more

  • Expensive and WORTH IT! A+++
Style: Calla Extension
These are the top-notch LED lights right now and after installing nearly 20 around the exterior of our home, I can say we'll buy even more for our backyard. NOTE: Plan ahead!!! If you seriously think you'll have a Philips Hue ecosystem with over 50 Hue products one day (think about the indoor bulbs/switches/sensors and the outdoor lamps and spotlights), then immediately buy TWO Hue bridges. You can only put 50 products on one bridge and that's overloading a single bridge, in my opinion. We just installed a 2nd bridge and placed all interior products on the 1st bridge and all exterior Hue landscape products on the 2nd bridge. This frees up your Wi-Fi signal for normal use around your home and boosts the signals to all the Hue products. ... show more

  • NOT as RELIABLE as one would hope
Style: Lily Base Kit
How do you not love Philips Hue lights? They are so cool and generally work well that you figure they are worth the price tag. So, you buy a bunch more. HOWEVER....with such a high price tag, they had better be reliable. They are not as reliable as they should be. I've had a number of very expensive pieces of equipment, including this power supply, go bad in less than 2 years. Be prepared. You are going to spend a lot of time troubleshooting and spending more money to replace items in your system that have failed. And Philips definitely does not stand behind their products – service takes you into a black hole of non-native English speakers. One of my power supplies had a serial number that was known to be defective. The Philips website says if you send in a photograph of the unit with the serial number they will send you a new power supply. Forget about it. Nothing but wasted time on the phone with people that have not helped. Beware! UPDATE: they finally came through with a replacement power supply -- and replaced the bulbs that failed as a result of the power supply failing. ... show more
