UPDATE. if this happens to you there is a fox. Hue folk called me this morning and walked me through it and it works again. So happy. This is an expensive lamp. It works but only when on charger now. The whole “portable” part of it doesn’t. Internal battery does not hold a charge. This obviously is an issue and my lamp should be replaced regardless that is over one year. Love the charging base, however wish there was a magnet or stronger magnet that guides and ensures the lamp’s charging prongs are seated on the charging base.

    • Great little lamp when you get one that works

I like these lamps a lot. I have two in the living room and one in each bedroom for a total of 4 lamps in my house. They are very versatile and, in my opinion, reasonably priced for what you are getting. I don’t have a Philips hub. I use the Philips Hue app and I also connected them to Alexa. So, pretty basic use (these days, at least) which is fine for me. My only complaint is that of the four lamps I currently have, I’ve ordered ten. The other six arrived defective. In one instance, the power outlet was completely crooked to the point that it couldn’t even plug in. In another instance, the Bluetooth didn’t work. And in a third instance, it wouldn’t hold a charge and therefore wasn’t portable. I experienced some variation of all the same issues with three other lamps. Thankfully I could return. It does make me a bit apprehensive about the longevity of the four I kept but I’m enjoying them for now. As a fun little bonus, you can connect them to Alexa and rename them. We named ours after the Muppets. It brightens our day (literally and figuratively) to say “Alexa, turn on Gonzo!” :) ... show more

4/5/2023 Update -- I'm seeing this light show as "unavailable" any time it's unplugged. What's the point of a wireless, rechargeable light if you can't turn it on after you unplug it. Downgrading my review until I can figure this out. So far I haven't been able to find anything out about this. Original Review -- I got this for the portability. It's my first Hue light and I use it with Home Assistant. Setup was pretty easy and it's a nice big, bright light with full RGB. That said, I wish it were a little heavier, so that it wouldn't wobble as much. I also expected and would have liked a USB-C connector for charging, instead of the proprietary plug.     • Hue Go Doesn't Go with Bluetooth

8/23/22 Update: You can set up bluetooth lights with the main Hue app, but it's not straightforward. You have to go to the app's Settings > My Hue System. This is where your bridge is set up (if you have one). Then you can click the blue + button and choose to add a Bluetooth system. You can then add Bluetooth lights to this new Bluetooth system. Once this is done, it works great! I could easily switch between using the bridge/WiFi, and using Bluetooth, via a button in the top left corner of the Home tab. I wish Hue support was more helpful. When I contacted them about this issue (over a week ago), it took several days to get a response, and the response was just to "select the Bluetooth option when setting up the light." I responded to the email asking how to do this and got no response (for several more days now). Anyway, I figured it out and wanted to share with others--I am now satisfied with the Hue Go, and how it functions with the app. Original review: I really want to like the the Hue Go. I have many of the other Hue lights, and they all work great with the Bridge. I was looking forward to taking the Go camping and traveling. However, a battery-powered, Go product needs to work both on, and off the Bridge/home network. Unfortunately, the Philips support site says to use the Bluetooth app, but when I downloaded that app, it doesn't do anything but refer me to the main Hue app. Also unfortunately, the main Hue app can only set up the Go on my home network, using the Bridge. So, the Hue Go is rather useless as a portable product until Philips can resolve this issue with its apps. ... show more

Nice little lamps. Pricey maybe for a lot but I realize the value because I have owned Philips hue products for years that are still part of world. Although more money than some are willing to pay this is an awesome little colorful, portable product. Recommend.

tapping the top doesn't always turn on light. not if you are in a hurry forget it. I have to mess with the on off button. but the light does work.
