I recently got my hands on the Philips Hue Go White and Color Portable Dimmable LED and I am so impressed! This little light has really exceeded my expectations. One of my favorite features is how portable it is. It's super lightweight and has a rechargeable battery, so I can take it with me anywhere without having to worry about finding an outlet. Plus, the range of colors is incredible! I can adjust the brightness and temperature to create the perfect ambiance for any occasion. 4/5/2023 Update -- I'm seeing this light show as "unavailable" any time it's unplugged. What's the point of a wireless, rechargeable light if you can't turn it on after you unplug it. Downgrading my review until I can figure this out. So far I haven't been able to find anything out about this. Original Review -- I got this for the portability. It's my first Hue light and I use it with Home Assistant. Setup was pretty easy and it's a nice big, bright light with full RGB. That said, I wish it were a little heavier, so that it wouldn't wobble as much. I also expected and would have liked a USB-C connector for charging, instead of the proprietary plug. I steadily increase the amount of HUE lights in my life, and it always is an improvement. I currently have, spread across 2 rooms, 3 strips, 2 bulbs, and now the GO. This lamp is really great for casting a lovely glow across a wall, bookshelves, or (in my case) vinyl record shelves. I love that it's wireless, and I move it into a different room from time to time. But usually I just use it in my living room with my other hue lights and I love the new dimension of light that it has given us. I will keep talking up these lights and getting more and more friends to upgrade their lives by adding colorful lights. And colored lights, in general, are amazing, but colored lights that you can change, and program, and fluctuate throughout each day...it's just the best. ... show more

Good lamp with a good mobile app. There are so many mods, but you can pick your own color. Only two downsides for me: short battery life and price.

    • Hue Go Doesn't Go with Bluetooth

8/23/22 Update: You can set up bluetooth lights with the main Hue app, but it's not straightforward. You have to go to the app's Settings > My Hue System. This is where your bridge is set up (if you have one). Then you can click the blue + button and choose to add a Bluetooth system. You can then add Bluetooth lights to this new Bluetooth system. Once this is done, it works great! I could easily switch between using the bridge/WiFi, and using Bluetooth, via a button in the top left corner of the Home tab. I wish Hue support was more helpful. When I contacted them about this issue (over a week ago), it took several days to get a response, and the response was just to "select the Bluetooth option when setting up the light." I responded to the email asking how to do this and got no response (for several more days now). Anyway, I figured it out and wanted to share with others--I am now satisfied with the Hue Go, and how it functions with the app. Original review: I really want to like the the Hue Go. I have many of the other Hue lights, and they all work great with the Bridge. I was looking forward to taking the Go camping and traveling. However, a battery-powered, Go product needs to work both on, and off the Bridge/home network. Unfortunately, the Philips support site says to use the Bluetooth app, but when I downloaded that app, it doesn't do anything but refer me to the main Hue app. Also unfortunately, the main Hue app can only set up the Go on my home network, using the Bridge. So, the Hue Go is rather useless as a portable product until Philips can resolve this issue with its apps. ... show more

I need a battery operated light that has a timer but this one has to be plugged in for the wifi timer to work. This is the 3rd light I've tried (all different brands) to no avail. Out of the 3, this one is the best but still doesn't meet my needs.

The battery life is just so-so, needs recharging after 3 hours or so. The bulb has a nearly worthless stand that is molded into the light fixture, and quite short and narrow. It doesn’t allow for an orientation other than a fixed 45 degrees upward-a strong wind would blow it over. Id like to direct it downwards. Disappointed overall, but it does work with Hue bridge and as such, controlled in unison with other Hue bulbs. ... show more

The thing about most battery-powered lights such as camp lights -- most are not smart. This one is and, unusually for Philip Hue, it even has Alexa-capable functionality without the Philips hub. I use it as a table lamp for a corner without power outlets, and as an end-table night light I can carry with me to the bathroom. On max brightness it won't last through the evening, but easily can at 50% and far longer on its nightlight setting. And, of course, it works with all other Philips Hue smart lights to create dynamic settings. The biggest drawback is that familiar Philips Hue sticker shock. It's either pay premium for something you know that works, or roll the dice on one of the cheap knock-offs. ... show more
