According to the included manual under 'How To COnnect', there is no special key combination to get into pairing mode - just power on and go pair from your device. Initially I had hard time even getting to see BHS-790 in the list but after many attempts got to see it - but even then it failed to pair (because it was not in pairing mode). On a hunch pressing volume-up & volume down does seem to put it in pairing mode and allows the device to pair. Other gripes: - Arrived with completly discharged battery - Would not charge in my car with provided USB cable (LED would not turn on). Brought into office and charged with a known good cable (seeing red LED and after a while turned blue) - Support website fails cert checks (see attched pic)- Why does Amazon not regularly scan vendor links? -N ... show more

This is the third or fourth set of Phaiser earbuds I've purchased, starting in their 600 series. As a fan of their quality products, I immediately looked to Phaiser when my BHS-730s finally gave up the ghost (rubber coating on wire split from the battery/control unit and eventually sparked/smoked). Notwithstanding the fiery demise of the previous set, I immediately purchased the BHS-790s as a replacement. Mostly, I just don't like the wire. This set has a round wire with a rubber coating. It is stiffer and does not lay well around my neck. I understand this may be more sturdy - which I'm glad for - but I really liked the more flexible ribbon-style wire on the BHS-730s. The angled earbud takes some adjusting to - I'm used to just kind of screwing the earbud into my ear instead of angling it in. These do seem to stay in place better, though I am using the "wings" for now, which do help with that. The sound is ... ok. I can't compare with my old set since they died, but this pair doesn't seem to have the same bass oomph of the 730s, and might even be a bit more tinny. Phaiser is well worth the price: I appreciate the fit of the earbuds - I have smaller ear canals and these don't hurt - and I like that they are waterproof, so I can wear them in any weather. They also block out sound pretty well because of the plug style. The sound is usually really good: crisp tones with good bass and midrange, and these are still pretty good. Pairing is a breeze, and controlling volume, play/pause, etc., is also easy. Each set has usually lasted me well into 2 years with continual use. One thing I REALLY like is the magnetic keepers built into the earbuds to clasp the set when not in use, because I lose things easily! I will purchase again, but I hope the tradeoff from a more flexible/flat wire coating to this stiffer, rounded version pays off with the set lasting even longer than usual. ... show more

I bought these to replace an older version. I must have strangely shaped ears, because no earbuds stay in my ears, unless they have a sharkfin to secure them. These are less noise-canceling then the older version, so the sound quality is not as good. Also, the separation of the bud and the fin makes the fit not as secure. They haven't fallen out yet though, so fingers-crossed. ... show more

These fit well and the sound is good, but they are quite loud even when the volume is on the lowest setting. It’s a good volume level for noisy environments like the gym, but inside my home or other quiet environments I’d really prefer to lower the volume.

This is my second pair, the other pair lasted me years before the wire loosened from the ear insert and connection would go in and out. I used/use these when I run and they do not fall out even when sweating excessively. Probably the best feature about them is the seal created with the inner ear, I didnt get alot of outside noise. Ideal for planes, or noisy areas. I wouldnt say they noise canceled, but sure close to it. When I have them on at home my spouse has to wave at me because I cannot hear outside noise. ... show more

I've purchased these BHS-790 buds multiple times over the years, and haven't had any big issues. Getting the bud cap and ear piece selected properly are key to getting them to stay. In an age of in-ear wireless buds, I still go back to these when I want to get my hands dirty and still be able to change volume and skip songs at the push of a button (something that most wireless in-ear buds don't have ability to do). ... show more

The sound is alright for what you pay for, but good lord they are loud. Even at the lowest volume everything was uncomfortably loud. At the lowest volume setting (let’s call that 10%) on my iPhone, they were as loud as my old earbuds on 60-70%. I like using my headphones to listen to ASMR and fall asleep at night, so this was an absolute deal breaker for me. I also made sure it wasn’t the iPhone’s fault, but like I said my old earbuds didn’t sound anywhere near as loud as these. Additionally, the earbuds don’t have their own volume control, which is also something incredibly silly not to include. Sometimes I want to leave my phone in the other room while doing chores so I want to change my volume without having to grab my phone. Quite the oversight in my opinion. ... show more
