Freezes up in cold weather , useless for ice fishing. This reel is an embarrassment to the Pflueger brand name

    • Reel looks good, but no customer suppoer
The President Ice Reel I received didn't come with instructions, so some of the workings are just a guess. I emailed Pflueger last week, and then called this week. No one picked up, so I left a message. They never responded either way. Reel looks like very good quality, with all metal components, finely machined, albeit made in China. It is made of fine materials and looks good. I wasn't excited with the free spin action when using a 3mm tear drop, I had too add some weight beads to get down quickly were the fish were. It did rat nest once when I tried to assist the descend. I'll keep trying but not what I expected for the money I spent. ... show more

    • Best inline reel I have yet.
I have purchased and returned a couple inline reels due to one thing or another and this one is a keeper. Easy finger deploy line release in a good location. Good drag system and spool is clear from interference. Single crank handle which I prefer. Dual handle crank is too bulky.

    • Not good for cold or outsfishing hing
Using this inline reel sux when ur ice hole hopping or just outside fishing in the cold. The trigger will get stuck in the open and not come back to close. Letting out a lot of line and creating backlash. The reel is made of metal which get stuck in the cold air.

    • Magnetic brake is worthless
If you are going to put a magnetic braking system on something the parts should probably be magnetic. The aluminum spool keeps freewheeling and causes terrible backlash. Bought 3 of these and not one works.
