I'm not sure why it is so hard to find a decent pepper/salt mill these days. I have been using the Costco/Kirkland signature disposable salt grinder for sometime now and have yet to find anything that matches its performance. The click/twist adjustable grinders don't seem to work very well and that is why I avoided the U-select model. There is no need to over complicate a salt grinder. As delivered I would give this model 1/5 stars as the top knurled nut does not stay tightened for any usable period of time. This makes it impossible to get a decent grind as the adjustment changes with each turn. I applied some Loctite 222 (purple, low strength) to fix this issue. Now the knurled adjustment nut stays put and the grinding is acceptable. Still not up to the quality of the Kirkland grinder, but definitely usable. ... show more

This is a very pretty grinder and I've owned Peugeot salt grinders for 18 years. I normally purchase this from either Williams Sonoma or Sur-La-Table. But decided to order through Amazon this time. When I need to replace these I'll shop back at a special kitchen store instead. When I opened up the box there was salt all over the bottom of the box. The grinder was apart and the salt was everywhere. I had ordered a new grinder so I'm unclear why there was already salt in the grinder. I kind of expect this grinder to have mechanical problems in the short term. ... show more

It’s a great product however twice a salt mill instead of a pepper mill was sent. Maybe it’s a pepper mill with salt in it but either way not as advertised… something is not right. The design itself looks great and works for grinding salt, which it came pre filled with. But I already had ordered a salt mill from them which I love, and was expected to actually get the pepper mill as advertised ... show more

I'm a little disappointed with this salt mill, especially considering that it's made by Peugeot. I use only a heavy course salt and unless I screw the knob down as tight as I can (in which case I get salt dust out of it when used) it continually leaks salt out the bottom when picked up or put down. If I loosen the knob the top piece feels wobbly and loose on top. No happy middle ground. ... show more

Does not grind pepper - pretty useless. Tried a few fixes, but nothing worked. The return window is tighter than usual, so buyer / tinkerer beware.

Bought the salt grinder and pepper grinder for the table. Looked great out of the box until I noticed the "cheesey" S and P stick on labels on top of the knurled nut. Otherwise, work well, but for the price, couldn't they do something about the stick-on labels (which, btw, do not come of easily)
